Your videos are really neat. It really got me around to the idea of catching my own food, and got me into fishing in my area. My wife and I go every week and eat what we catch. Being in nature and knowing where my food comes from really helps me appreciate it a lot more.

That was a ripper day on the water. The intro was great and the drone footage of the GT's and the hookup gave us another perspective that we never get to see, such good fortune they swam past as you put it up. Not true the larger fish and places With a lot of fishing pressure, some predator species will literally not hit lures. It’s like they get wise to them. Don’t get me wrong some fish you can catch three times in a row after you throw them back.

Hi Andy here’s a tip put a couple of drops of super glue on the keeper part of the jig head this will elevate the plastic twisting after you get a take also when you fishing in the rivers forget about that Weedless set up that you use just use a normal jig head when it hits the water keep the tip of the rod up your going to get a lot more hook ups with the hook stIcking out of the plastic

Make a descender....easy to do with one of your lip grips or a barbless inverted big jig head. Swim bladder deflation is not really recommended. ODF&W has lots of plans for both.

Andy fish with their swim bladders inflated can be descended back down to depth with a barbless hook in their lip and a small weight to lower them. Jiggle the rod and the hook with pop out. No need to pop the swim bladder. A fish descending device is mandatory in Canada for rockfish species.

Andy, just a thing with Barotrauma, my wife is a body piercer, she said to try a 14 gauge canula from a body piercing shop that may be useful instead of a knife into the bladder.. this would have a small pierce instead of a knife cut. Less trauma means better recovery for the fish..
The official way is to use a barbless hook and a weight to slowly lower them back to depth around 50ft or so. It will deflate the swim bladder. Jiggle the rod and out comes the hooks to release the fish And avoid all infection. They are used in Canada and called a fish descender . We have species of rock fish in Canada with low limits that are slow growing and use of the descender helps mortality rates when released.

What a great trip, lots of variety and awesome fishing. The drone footage of the GT was spectacular. Gotta love the Daiwa gear, I just splashed out on a pair of 21 Saltist MQ 6000 with a pair of Saltist Hyper rods. Not cheap but, great quality and the reels are super smooth, light and have heaps of grunt. Your tent set up looks the goods too.

I've used wooden spoons and knives in the past that have had a hole in them similar to the one you're using in this awesome video! and the hole has been a measuring guide for a perfect serve of pasta it may not be the case with the knife your using but interesting to see great looking chopping knife that rolling action is unreal for herbs by the looks.👌

I’ve tried this many times, sometimes it works other times the hook won’t come out, it’s pretty hit and miss, especially in a lot of current.
