My friend bullied me for 2 years in class 11 and 12.He was jealous of my personality and my good academics. He taunted and bullied me verbally and sometime physical ly. But I didn't leave him because I thought one day he will change because of my politeness. Ultimately after 2 years I found myself my heart with anxiety and stress. At that point I realised GOD and my politeness would not going to help me. I have to fight for myself for my self care, my overall health. I watched martial arts and filled my heart with strength to not allow people to bully me. Narcissist people only understand language of "thappad". Moral of story is fight for yourself, fight for your survival, fight for your self respect. Today you can easily find toxic people, greedy people who don't love you but want to use you. These people have good image in society but their heart is filled with hatred and selfishness. It's better to stay alone rather than living with toxic people. Become strong

To be precise NPDs are not born they are made. So you can’t quantify in no. Who are more and who are less. Excessive materialistic admiration from one or both parents is the root cause of NPD.

People can confuse NPD with ASD, AVPD, OCD, PPD, BPD. Madam I feel that someone can be abusive but they don’t need to have npd to meet that criteria - I learnt a lot from self-aware people with npd

Very very true and correct .my father in law was very worst with all family members and so we faced too much in our life and so my daughter became almost like narcissist due to him .and she faced devorce two times .

My daughter's name is Nidhi .bad atmosphere due to my Father in law and that time we had too much struggle even she was taught every good lessons by me and she studied in convent then also she turned narcissist.

Nobody can fix it dear! You have to accept it and remember you CAN be extremely happy in the same house as your narcissistic parents if you want to be happy. Just an advice, DO NOT STOOP TO THEIR LEVEL OF HARSHNESS. Just give out love and acceptance. And we definitely can see them changing

But I think there is a gender bias here. Dada, papa, chacha…. Dadi, mummy, didi, etc can also be narcissistic. My mother-in-law could be a narcissist and torture me out of jealousy. May have controlled her husband and son as black sheep and now the daughter-in-law is the new target. Maybe new researches will soon declare that equal number of men and women are narcissists in a society

I know that for me, I tried for YEARS to convince myself that my mom loved me because “All moms love their kids,” and that she “meant well” when she did things that I experienced as harmful to me. When I did dare to speak with a friend, I was met with, “All moms are doing their best, Stephi! You sound pretty judgement of your mom after all she did for you, don’t you think?”
Would my friend have responded this way if I had shared that I felt this way about my husband? I don’t think so.
So what can we do about this mother myth that keeps so many suffering in silence about the pain they experienced with their mothers?
A couple of things:
1) OWN your own pain with your mother - When we own our pain, we create safety for others to do the same, both within our circles and in our broader society.
2) SHARE my content and that of others you come across that speaks honestly about mother-adult child relationships - If you feel more comfortable, you can caption your shares with something along these lines: “Sharing for anyone who needs to see this right now.”
3) TELL your own story of pain with your mother - When and where you feel comfortable (this does not need to happen on social media) share about what happened to you with your mother, how that impacted you, how you feel about it, how you have worked to heal from it, etc.

Totally Agreed I was never being loved so I am still struggling with loving myself and to love properly. I had to learn these things myself when I became a mother myself...Else I felt v empty...My mom is a covert Narc which explains her behaviour. But it took me 41 years to accept that actually she never loved me. It was hard to accept even though it was clear enough. Now I have set strong boundaries so that I am not impacted by her any more. But Yes I agree our society never likes to accept that problem. Whenever I raise it people look at me with bad eyes. Bcoz it is a TABOO to bring this topic abt mother Myth.I am happy to see this comment Bcoz we need to raise this concern and accept and work it out to not have disformed kids who are left confused as grown ups...

I was a hopeless romantic once but then got cheated on and from then on I have seen 95% of the guys around me getting cheated on. Even the attitude of the girls which I'm familiar with is of 'settling' and not 'marrying'.
