Virtual Soil Series Part 1: What Is Soil

In this video, join a Metroparks interpreter to explore the 5 main ingredients of soil. Instructions are included for an experiential learning activity to help students understand that soil is made of water, air, minerals, and both live and decaying organic matter. Over time, these ingredients undergo changes that turn them into nutritious soil. This video also includes discussion questions that teachers can use as a follow-up activity, which lead directly into topics covered later in the series.
