I am engineering student that use RAINS "Rolltop Rucksack" 17L Been trying to find similar bags like the BS Rennen Daypack 22L that keeps the compact profile in an urban setting, waterproof, fits 16" laptops All I carry is a 16" laptop, 12.9" ipad, couple pages of paper, a pencil case, and pouch of chargers. I carry my own lunch; you can imagine finding it hard to stuff in it in the RAINS' bag that I have. Been hard trying to find a good substitute that opens like a normal bag, this is one is a hard trigger for me
Just wanted to say thank you for the recommendation. Needed to replace my north face, so ended up going with the Bellroy classic backpack plus, since I needed the extra space and am very happy. A little expensive but definitely worth the price. Thanks for the recommendation!
Love your reviews! Would you recommend an Able Carry Daily for school? Would love to see a review of the Chrome Industries Hawes 26L by you, and the NIID R0 that I mentioned a while ago 😂.
I got the High Sierra Swoop Sg backpack from marshalls for 15 dollars. It is a good backpack for students with 30 liters of space. Teo water bottle holders, laptop sleeve, small pockets for trinkets.
Great video! One thing I wish about backpacks is that a waist strap would be handy, especially if carrying around a 16" laptop inside. Would be much more comfortable :
Note on the boundary supply rennen only the black is in stock and they have discounted the other colors. (Don’t know if they are discounting the line all together or not) Costumer service told me this Secondly is 140 not 150
Would the Aer Tech Pack 3 not be an option for university? I happen to like the techiness a bit more. On a side note, would you nake a review on thr LTT backpack? It would be nice to have your thoughts on it
Aer Tech Pack 3 would be another great choice! A bit limited in its capacity, but if you carry less gear it's a fantastic bag. Already reviewed the LTT bag, be sure to search for it on TH-cam
@@Nomads.Nation That's right! I had somehow completely forgotten about the video. Thank you for the reminder, and thanks for your input in the tech pack 3
@@Nomads.Nation My wife and I live in the UK now and she has only replaced her Jansport once before now at the end of her time in college after getting it in high school. We still have it and are getting it replaced a second time, and they are still honoring the warranty even though it has been over a decade and we moved from the US (where we originally purchased the bag) to the UK.
its a beautiful bag for sure! Just not my favorite for functionality - not a lot of features and those straps are sooo thin (not always ideal for carrying heavy tech gear / text books)
A goruck bullet could belong on this list imo. And for me, I'd pick the cpl for the evergoods pick. That plc is kinda crap xd. Moment also has a simple nice backpack that's not expensive that could join the list.
@@grreeeeeethe bullet bags are priced in the same range as an evergoods or Aer bag. They have a lifetime no questions warranty. Which is a lot different than how the warranty might go for aer or evergoods. Sooo what's wrong with them? They are also super comfortable. Carry weight well, which you sometimes have with electronics and books. And they will last you forever. Sooo?
@@DaemonViews you get way less liter per cost, for one. students don't need lifetime warranty, they need something cheap that will get them from a to b without a lot of fuss. I think this guy's idea that any student is going to drop $210 on a backpack instead of 10-15 cases of beer is absurd. but a goruck is even more absurd.
@@grreeeeeeI do agree that the chances are really low that someone would pay this amount. My first expensive bag was 200 dollar and was a messenger I bought for work. It was insane at the time for me to pay that amount for it. All the cheaper bags like my eastpak and H&M bag did just fine those uni years. But then again. A phone was also not 700-1000 dollar. So prices are different anyway. But you can't hate on goruck prices and find evergoods prices normal... Price per liter is kinda ridiculous. You buy the liters you need. Edit: Goruck Bullet 16l laptop costs 155 dollar. Seems fair to me.
no, I've reviewed 300+ bags, never seen a waterproof one. I hear scuba diving bags are best for that. Many of them are water resistant though - in particular the Aer City Pack Pro in XPAC, or the Able Carry 13
Love your reviews Aaron. But for someone who loves backpacks, I cringe so much at the way you handle them, especially when you just rip open zips with so much force unnecessarily all the time!
I think it's better this way, so someone can see how the bag can stand everyday use. Also I like it when bags can open like that, so you know the zippers don't require extreme efforts to open
I appreciate your feedback! I like to beat the crap out of my bags to really see how durable they are, so I think it does provide value for the review itself 💪

Any thoughts on the Patagonia Refugio 26L?
haven't reviewed it so can't say for sure, but Patagonia is a very reputable brand

At the Uni where I work, the Timbuk2 Tuck Bag is the "go-to" for many of the students.
Good to know! I guess this list is more for the students who like to go against the grain lol
Happy to see Jansport making the cut. No one is looking at Eastpak though. Why is that? I grew up with these two or is that not the case in the US?
I have the idea it's not.
I had this discussion with Klint.
But here 80% would be eastpak, 15% kanken and then some random stuff.
I wanna do an Eastpak review very badly, hopefully soon!

I love my Alpaka Metro backpack. The able carry 13 looks good but I'm worried about that back panel not being well padded and ventilated.

aer make some the most boring, uninspiring, overpriced bags on the planet.

To be honest, the kids these days don't really go for bags like these. They got for more like Nike, Adidas and puma.
