Hello Im Lance (aka Bundy Bear) and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advise to customers.
Parts seen in our videos can be purchased from www.queenslandt...
We have a lot more than we can offer on our web site available to us and in our store. If you dont see what you would like please email info@queenslandtractorspares.com.au and we will help where we can.
I do try and help with technical advise at bundybearsshed@gmail.com if you have a question or are having trouble with your project.

I have to rebuild a 1840 at the end of this month, all new orings and seals. I think your lucky someone went through the trouble to take yours all apart what a time saver😉

Great videos! I live in Colombia, South America, not easy to find a good mechanic, I own a JD 2140 and I like to get involved, I am thinking of splitting the tractor and check how thing look inside!.

Can this pump stop pumping? I have a problem with my main pump pressure and I think my reservoir in the front is not filling properly. I have changed the filter and checked everything and I still have a pressure problem. My hydraulics are slow and jerky. JD 1640, thanks.

If the resivior is not filling it can be a high pressure leak not letting the pressure build up. Try blocking off a loader valve or the steering and see if it does then.

Cool, for sure, also cool here in Glen Bard NS Cda this morning, in a not so good way,... before work-22 C yup minus not factoring wind chill. Keeping a heater on the hydraulic/transmission fluid on the 230. Hows the parts situation for 135 6 speed. Been following that closely.

G Day David, I think I have the 135 gearbox parts now, been away for a break but hopefully this weekend I get some more done.

Hey how are you doing? Really like your videos and very informative! I rebuilt my transmission pump on my 1980 2240 john deere tractor. It was leaking into the clutch housing. It was fine for 6 months now it is doing it again. My tractor does have a hydraulic problem and I can't figure it out. It does fine until I get the front end or nose of the tractor down the hill. My steering my 3 point hitch and my front end loader becomes jerky or really slow depending on the steepness of the hill I am on. But the rest of the time everything works great . It is above serial number 350000. It is a standard tractor with a two stage clutch no hi or lo or no independent pto or none of that stuff. My transmission pump only supplies my front pump if I understand completely. I am from Kentucky in the United States. We do some farming here but nothing like we used to. Wondering what you think my problem is? Keep up the great work and videos. I love these older john deere tractors. I have 3 total. Wondering if you got your 2030 going. I appreciate if you have any ideas for me if you don't I understand. Good luck with your 2030 and thanks for your videos and any responses for me. Also I thought about replacing my pump with a aftermarket transmission pump from reliable tractor parts because it is a complete pump almost cheaper than I can rebuild mine for and a 6 month warranty. Wondering about your thoughts on that also using a aftermarket pump. Just cheaper than john deere also. Thanks once again!

I would look at the transmission supply pump as there were mode over the years there and it may also have a small split in it.

@@BundyBearsShed Thank you so very much! My pump is identical to the one you are working on. I am thinking of getting the aftermarket transmission pump because it is complete. I have resealed mine but leaking again into the clutch housing after 6 months of use. John Deere wants 754.00 dollars for theirs and I can get this one for 200.00 with a 2 year warranty. It actually comes with a 6 month warranty but you can buy extra warranty. The transmission pump is total around 250.00 with the 2 year warranty. I hope it will be okay because I don't want to have to split the tractor again after this time. I also am going to check the pipes really good which I did but I could have overlooked something. Hope your project is going well and you are doing well! Really enjoyed your channel! I love these old tractors. I have a 1951 model a that was bought brand new by my uncle. I have the 2240 1980 model year and I have a 1972 820 john deere that is a really good tractor. I also have my granddaddy naa Ford tractor . We used to also have a 2040 and 1530 but we sold them. The 20 30 and 40 series are my favorite. I also like the 50 and 55 series. I will let you know what happens with my 2240. Let me know about your 1640. I really appreciate your time and channel! I also run that feeler guage around my gears like you did when I was resealing it . My seemed to be a 6 or 7 thousandths. Also on mine I couldn't see those chamfered sides on my gears. The outside ring of my big gear was pretty grooved and that raised piece in the middle of my pump was rough looking. Again thank you so much and good luck with your projects!

Love your videos. They're extremely helpful. We have a 1640 and the issue we're having is we frequently lose hydraulic pressure. We have to keep the RPMs up to have anything at all and even then we have no pressure more than we have it. When this happens we lose power steering as well as remotes. We have the tractor split, this pump looks great, we're wondering if replacing all the o rings and seals will fix the problem, or if you have any other ideas? Thanks for your videos!

Hi Bundy Bears great videos not sure if your get this but do you no which way the seal goes behind the needle roller bearing for the centre shaft am i correct in thinking the lips of the seal face towards the clutch instead off the usual way lips to oil? thanks.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

The spring and lip goes to the rotor or the rear.

Love your work Lance, your videos have been a great help in maintaining my 2130. Is this tranny pump similar to that in the 2130?.

Not really, the 30 series was the same basic principle but they did it differently.

Look up LSA oils TTU tractor transmission oil. Most brands have an oil to suit in their Lube Guide
