Been writing down a bunch names I missed for a part 2 of this video. Thanks all for the suggestions! Edit: I made a part 2 to this: th-cam.com/video/XDHd0oQeeFU/w-d-xo.html
On my server we had a level 1 human named Chair, who would go around to various buildings in the alliance capital cities, and announce how many chairs were in each building. He counted himself as one of the chairs.
@@RX7FDfreak yeah, I plan to. Not sure what server yet. I doubt I'll be able to put as much time into it as I used to, back in the day. I was a university student with too much time on his hands back then, now I'm working and have kids. RIP raiding chances.
Man, it's been years but I still remember hearing about Angwe, even though I didn't even play on his server. A lot of this stuff I didn't know about however, like Kralnor and his staff posts. Really well made video, dude. I learned a lot!
The feel when you find a comment from your main go-to-for-WoW-stuff on a random WoW related video that popped up on your feed kk XD Also remember about 3 or 4 of these (not to mention Leeroy. Who doesn't know Leeroy?). Tseric's case actually marked me a lot back then. Ever since I was a child I wanted to be involved in the gaming industry, especially in making games. And MMOs were just the most amazing thing ever. Until then, if you didn't have anyone to play with you could never play multiplayer games, but in those you could play with dozens of people at the same time by yourself. In my head it was the pinnacle of what I wanted to make. Then after that whole issue, and considering my own experiences in the game, I realized that dealing with people is a stressful job, especially if you put a lot of effort on it only for some to treat you like they own you because they bought the game. At least that's how I see a lot of people in these communities behave. So, long story short, I figured that if I wanted follow that path I should stay away from making MMOs. It's like having a child, takes a lot of commitment and they are hardly thankful: it starts small, you pour all your love onto it and it eventually grows big and strong. Then they start to take you for granted, nothing you do is good enough anymore and they complain about tons of small things while ignoring all the effort and care you've given them. And in the end, you will probably live to see it die and bury it yourself. It's sort of sad. Anyway, god dammit, that Gedran guy! * "You dirty bastard of a dwarf"! * ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Awww, we had an orc player who was basically the best friend of the Alliance. He just chilled in our cities, waved to us and did not even kill the vendors (most of the time).
I've never done that but did usually help any low lvl Alliance players I saw out and about trying to defeat hard enemies. Was always hilarious to see them be like wait did that lvl80 Blood Elf just kill that thing for me.
we have this lovely Undead Rogue on Grobbulus named Eddie who does the same. everyone loves him. he is a pro at WoW translator and always talks to us with his cute Orcish accent. a true sweetheart.
We had a troll rouge going about storm wind back in vanilla days. And you had all these people with pvp turned on trying to find him to kill him, in the general chat you’d have things like ‘troll spotted in dwarven district!’ And then all the players would be rushing there as fast as they could. By the time they got there another message would pop up ‘he’s in the trade district!’ And then all the high level players would mount up and rush to trade district.. Teenage me found this hilarious 😂 ahh the memories of vanilla days!
Devil of the Seas Eh. I can understand to an extent why people do it (RPG literally stands for role-playing game after all) but at the same time, people make it look weird and gross like those two.
I remember meeting an undead rogue in vanilla wow on a pvp server inside a random empty bar in Stormwind surrounded by his Alliance friends. This undead Rogue, who was shrunken due to noggenfogger, had actually figured out the language system and was able to type Orcish in such a way that it was readable to people who spoke Common. Sitting around drinking with people I'd never met, interacting with a horde member peacefully for the first time trying to learn his language was one of the best, most surreal gaming experiences I've had.
#2 2:37 Kramerr slaughtered an entire Horde City after another on a PVP Server. For an entire day as a level 60. The Horde was outmatched. It took Blizzard like a week to fix it. It was one of the most infamous slaughters in WoW History
I wouldn´t even had this on the list because this was staged. but most people know of Leeroy so its on here nevertheless. Alot of members of [Pals for Life] acknowledge this very short after the release of the Leeroy sketch.
I like to think that I was infamous for short period of time... Expand this comment if you want to read the story. In vanilla WoW I played a Night Elf Shadow Priest, and loved it. I played on a PvP server, and the problem was that, according to wowcensus, the server I played on was home to the largest Horde guild of all guilds on all servers, Goon Squad. They were so huge that they needed 3 or 4 sister guilds to accommodate all their players. I enjoyed world PvP, it's one of the things that excited me about the game. However, on this server if you ever encountered a horde player, in mere minutes entire parties of level-capped Goon Squad players would arrive, kill you, and simultaneously camp your corpse and the graveyard. I'd be 30 levels lower than them, and 5 or more opponents would be willing to spend a full hour of their day ensuring I couldn't take more than 2 steps with out dying. I loathed them. I never felt as though they were cheating, or doing anything against the rules, I just thought it was mean-spirited and not how the game was intended to be played. Then one day someone from the Goon Squad posted on the message board. It was an invitation, to a world event they were creating in which players of all levels would participate in a giant clash. Players were split into different level ranges, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40, etc. Each group of players was designated one of the many large bridges in the game like Tol Barad, Deadwind Pass, Frost Whisper Gorge, etc. Horde would be assigned one side of the bridge, alliance the other, and at a given time on a given day the two sides would clash in a world-scale pvp event. But I hated them, and I saw this as my opportunity to seek revenge for the daily ganking and griefing they inflicted on me. I was in the 40s, and I chose to head for Tol Barad on the north side of the Wetlands, where the players in their 20s would be meeting. I arrived early, and climbed the giant chains suspending the center of the bridge, and hit shadowmeld. As the chosen time approached, I saw dozens of players assembling on both sides of the bridge, but no one saw me. And then the time came. The 2 factions charged towards the center of the bridge, I would choose a target, and press the button for my favorite spell: Mind Control. 1 by one, the horde players would stop in their tracks. With stars spinning around their heads, they would turn 90 degrees, and take a running leap off of the bridge into the icy waters 100s of feet below. One after another I'd make them jump off. With no shoreline to climb back on land, they were forced to either swim half way around the zone or hearthstone away. Eventually they saw my perch atop the chains and tried to fight me, but being 20 levels lower than me they could hardly touch me, and it wasn't long before I'd throw them into the drink too. I loved it. To this day it's probably my most favorite experience in gaming ever. Some of my own guildmates criticized my choice to do this, but I've never regretted it. A couple years later, a buddy of mine actually spotted a forum post someone had made taking about the event, and shared screenshots of me controlling their body and throwing them over the side of the bridge. This was an organized guild of hundreds of players who routinely chose to grief other players to the point of being unable to play. Me throwing a few dozen of them off a bridge for an hour hardly compares.
My brother told me of a rogue called Knives (Mal'ganis I think) in Burning Crusade who was in a group that killed Kael'thas and had his phoenix mount drop. The loot system was set to rolls instead of master loot. They were told to skip and redo the loot under master loot. Knives rolled need on it, got it, and quit. He quickly became infamous on that server as he would AFK in Orgrimmar on the mount and everyone would come to spit on him.
Nurgaladion (nelf rogue) from the server ravenholdt. He was so hated for his pvp skills in vanilla. Tbc and wrath. He was the scurge of ogrimar and strangelton vale/ gurubashi arena. The twinks hated him. He became so hated that about 20 guilds got together in tbc and collected enough Gold to buy the guild Zylos hand to gank Nurgaladion 24/7 for 2 weeks. Nurgaladion had dedicated hate websites and forums. Even went so far that there was a forum post offering real money for Nurgaladion Home adress and phone number. He was and Will forever be rememberd as the best rouge that ravenholdt has seen.
Xaned - Human Rogue from Bloodlust could 1v1 ANY Rogue on the server, and did repeatedly. Hosting competitions constantly for Rog v. Rog duels. He will be forever remembered as a great, in my eyes
You forgot for the Dives rage moment is that in Hearthstone, the Raid Leader card has references to the video. Such as the line "Hit it very hard" and "Handle it!"
Yep, back in those days some guilds would have to 'partner' with other guilds to do runs.(In this case P4L and Dark Legion) During one of these runs while instructions were being given out. Aruthan was being told what he needed to do.. when he was told "Aruthan, then you run in.." he heard "Aruthan you run in" so he ran in and caused a wipe. A funny moment. A few weeks later the infamous video was released . Granted, it was funny. But IMO the original event was the best because it wasn't staged.
He yelled at him for being on a roleplay server and says he should join a normal server instead, but the dwarf literally joined in on the roleplay whole heartedly
Man should have kept it in Goldshire or gone somewhere more private. Yes, it was a roleplay server, but even ERP should be kept on the down low. Man had no one to blame but himself. He was practically begging for it considering the location.
here is another famous name, Doubleagent, the pandaren toon that hit level 110 without being either alliance or Horde. He reached 90,100 and 110( on each expansion accordingly) without ever leaving the starting zone.
+45bullshark I believe he did it just for fun and to be the only one to do so. his history got to famous that Blizzard made an in-game character on the monk class hall, he can be found mining ore(thats the way he got to 110)
@@gordonlove5121 I think an adequate response to that would be "I kept my dignity".... followed by quietly going to cry in the corner because I don't get laid
everything. its made extremely easy, dumbed down and for unskilled casual players. thats why the subscriber numbers dropped by half when that started happening after the third expansion.the casuals were still playing the game when it was hardcore, they just were not good. by making the game easier and easier with every expansion they just made their hardcore fans quit. casual players are toxic trashes(mad cuz bad), not consistent and will quit the game at the first sight of a change that they dont like because they dont care about the game(like the new improved leveling right now. they are all threatening to unsubscribe). thats why u DONT try to please the casuals... since the 4th expansion everything has been done to please the casuals, yet they have never stopped crying and complaining about everything. im sure blizzard already saw their own mistake. i came back now and what i saw is a completely different game with a lot of things straight up deleted from the game...
many things, ive quit myself even thought I think legion was a great expansion until a certain point, the best one since wlk. ill try to resume. 1- Classes are boring, most classes feel the same. 2- Gameplay depth was dumbed down (i think this is the expression) now there is very little mechanic to the rotations you can do it without even looking at the screen. 3- Pvp is boring 4- Pve is also boring , this might be because I play since a long time. 5- The lore isnt cativating anymore with rare exceptions Bfa is looking good. 6- WHen I started play wow on wlk the world was vast with many secrets, this was just 2 expansions in but since then the world lost that , there is little incentive to explore or to bring a friend saying hey come look at this place is amazing, I used to get my friends and show them places I explored and now its just doesnt have that. And No I dont think it was because of flying mounts. 7- The devs dont seem in love with their game anymore , and look lost on what to do, in legion they showed this with lots of decision going back and forward. There were classes little and big problems that took many months to fix etc. I still cant getover the fact that they made fdk boring
The classes mechanics and depth is one of the most important points for me, I remember in wlk I played rogue on molten (it was a very buggy class) so most rogues didnt do any damage. But well I was really strong most by the fact that ive spent hours testing and perfecting the rotation I went from 3k to 7/8k dps just by practising. Right now this also works but the little things that would make a diference dont exist anymore
What a compilation of cool stories. Never heard of a game that had "legendary players" if not for E-sports or something like that. This is like the community building the story of the own game. That's incredibly beautiful. Imagine having your character becoming a legend and all player around the world knowing your name hahaha. Fantastic.
I played during this time and while these are cool I can tell you I knew none of these people never heard of them. But a truly legendary name heard round the world is zezima from runescape. Everyone and I mean everyone had heard of zezima
I had a gnome rogue friend back in vanilla emulate Angwe. He'd chill in Orgrimmar most of the day, with a Horde character parked on his friend's account so he could keep an eye on general chat. He'd gank people in the middle of the city, and had a reputation for being both a skilled player and a nuisance. At one point he practiced stunlocking, and began ganking people while just wearing a pink dress and two level 1 maces. Easily one of the best players I ever met.
I'll share a story here, that no one will read, but this video made me remember my best experience I've ever had in a MMO. Wow came out and it was a hit, everyone was talking about it, but back then I was ~7 years old. So when I came to my dad to buy me this game for birthday that was really close, he said yes until he saw how much money it costed. Then my grandma came over for my birthday and told me to ask anything for a gift so I understandably said World of Warcraft. (To clarify the only thing my grandma knew about games was when I was even smaller and played Commandos 2 where in the intro is a Hitler flailing his arms around so she came to a conclusion games=bad in about 3 seconds :^)) So when she heard it's a PC game she was like "Nah, gon smack you up and ask something different." So then I just said I want a little cake from nearby cake shop. We went there, I ate my cake, was about to head back home but grandma probably saw how sad I was so she was like "Fine, I'll buy you the stupid game, but I wanna see your school grades every month, once it will be even slightly worse I'm gonna take your game away" Isn't my grandma nice lady? Anyway she bought me the game and in my country (don't know if it was everywhere) when you bought it in a special shop, you had a card in the box which gave you first 3 months for free and THEN you needed to pay monthly. So I started playing and the only MMO I was playing back then was Runescape. Days went by, a 2 week long holiday came because my school needed to fix the roof after a huge thunderstorm and I was glued to the computer all day long. I couldn't ask for anything better, my older brother was away for a month, I had 2 weeks of free time when most of my friends were sick because of the cold weather so no one bothered me to go outside and honestly I don't even know how long I spent playing each day, but it was god damn alot... parents were angry at me, my sister wanted to play some board games or just do stuff, but I was grinding dem xps... Well, nothing special happend in my early days I met few people from my country so I added them and after the 3 months I asked my parents if they could pay for the next month. Once my dad heard it is payed monthly, he went to the PC, uninstalled WoW and took the box with the DVD. And off to Runescape I went again. TBC came out and soon after WotLK came too and I was still without a any way to play the game (Honestly if there was any way to play the game and not paying monthly I didn't know about it and all of my friends told me it HAD to be payed monthly) And then when we were cleaning before christmass I found the box with the game. I took it and since I had my own PC by that time I installed it right away, of course I couldn't log in but I tried to somehow talk my parents down to pay at least for 6 months, then I'll find some kind of summer job so I can pay it by myself for the next 6 months... yeah ... I was ~12 years old? Well my mom took a pitty on my little ass and agreed to pay for 3 months. I was so happy. Christmass came and because of all the family union and relatives I didn't see for many years I kind of forgot about that UNTIL. My friend came over the day right after christmass and told me that there are P R I V A T E S E R V E R S Where you don't need to pay ... well you've guessed it, I went to my PC, called him on skype and went on a huge night figuring out how to connect to a private server. Once we both downloaded the game with out shitty internets and some patches too, we were off and finally connected. I went for Undead warlock and my friend for Human Paladin and we said to ourselfs that we have exactly one week (the christmass holiday was ending in a week) and on the last day of the holiday we'll have a 1v1 fight to see who is better. I had a idea of going the same class and finally we've agreed on warlocks since it was a bit harder with the micro management of your summons. This... is the best time I've ever had with a MMO in my entire life. Yes I might played Runescape and play it TO THIS FUCKING DAY (With OSRS releasing on mobile the most of the time at work is some agility training or something I won't do in my free time) Well there I was Undead Warlock starting out really fast against another warlock (forgot which race he was) and in this short period of time I've met so many people, so many great friends which I talk with to this day ... it was crazy. It begun when I hit level 4 and random guy asked me if I need help. I was like nah thanks boiiii and explained him what I'm doing whilst killing some basic mobs. He then asked me if I wanna enter his guild and offered me a upper hand aganist my friend via some items that are hard to get on this server. I was like FUCK YEAH and he then helped me via power leveling and once I've hit some level he traded me a item I could wear. It almost boiled down to me starting Wow and instantly writing to this guy. It was weird since he was ALWAYS online, 6 AM, 2 PM or 10 PM he was there. To clarify english isn't my native language so I had a real bad time trying to say what I¨ve ment and one day he just said "Wanna call on teamspeak?" So I agreed and it was the cringiest, weirdest and fucking the most hilarious call in a history. We just say HEY, HELLO and then it was fucking 15 minutes of silence and awkward coughs. Once we went over that he started talking about how to deal with this location and that location and to add he was only 1 year older at that time so not that he was some fatass nerd in search of friends or some kind of pedophil, well And to skip the rest it was near our fight, when I've met ~10 people from the guild and my friend joined another guild. We both agreed on a place where we will fight and I don't exactly know the name of the location, but I know it was in a Alliance territory. I said at the guild I'm heading off, and 7 guys said they'll go with me to see the battle (mostly just to make fun of us how much we suck I think) And once I told my friend not to be scared but I'll have few people with me. He then later on invited few people from his guild and eventually 5 people came with him. It was supposed to be a battle on a field but there were aggresive mobs with higher level then me and my friends were so we moved the battle onto a near bridge. It was such a great moment, having 7 max level guys behind me cheering my name and on the other side 2 levels lower friend of mine with 5 max level guys cheering his name. I said one of my guild members will start the battle and once he said "FIGHT" we went nuts. Until this moment I've NEVER had a single pvp experience what so ever and my friend being the smarter actually went and tried some PVP/Duels. It was a close fight but the first round was his (We went for BO5) Then it was my victory and the round after I've won again. It was 1:2 me being one victory away from taking this 1v1 home and after the talk between the two guilds I let him win so it was 2:2 Fucking sweaty hands and forehead, my guildmembers cheering me up whilst his cheering him, but then the unthinkable happend. One of my guildmembers yelled "FOR NEWLIFERS" (our guild was called NEWLIFERS) and charged into the other guild's member. Before I could realise what happend 7 of my guildmembers were slaughtering 5 of the opposite guild but we being in a Alliance territory it was really bad, cus their guild member had it much closer to help them out whilst our guild had a loooong way to get there. Soon more people from my friends guild arrived and from a guild chat more of my guild was on the way too. Me and my friend agreed not to fight and just watch how the big bois are fighting instead. It took fucking 2,5 hours before it was over ... and from this day these two guilds were "at war" so whenever you saw someone from the other guild, you HAD to report his location and instantly there was a killer squad that head out this way. As I said this was the fucking best part of any MMO I've ever had and this "random guy" that invited me into the guild is still a friend of mine as a few others but with this one we talk/write and sometimes play to this game. Dota, League of Legends, PUBG, Sea of Thieves, Escape from Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown, CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, Warcraft 3 or Age of Mythology with some occasional Rise of nations. Honestly Lucas, thank you for being such a awesome friend and I can't wait to finally meet you next year. He lives in Sweden and I live in Czech Republic ... and finally I've saved enough money to be able to fly over there and visit him... damn even by playing Runescape for over 15 years soon I've never had such a great memory as this one which happend in a single week of playing on a Private server ... damn
That's pretty funny, just read that whole thing, yeah I gotta say, this game brought back memories. Ups and downs with this game. I'm glad I moved on from it becuz it consumed my life practically lol. That really was a neat story and a plot twist haha.
Idk why but I was HOOKED on your story. It honestly sounds like an awesome memory. Had wow a couple times, but never good enough pc or Internet to play
On my server(back during the WotLK invasion events), there was a level 1 Hunter who, every day at the same time, would run through Org yelling "the ghouls are coming! the ghouls are coming!" and then Feign Death outside the AH(he would stay there for about an hour, sometimes moving so he wouldn't get kicked, but always FD'd again) People used to crowd around and wait for him and /cheer him on or /pat him to make him feel better. Little did we know, he would continue to do it, for the WHOLE expansion and then "the Dragons are coming!" started when Cata was announced. I stopped playing during Warlods, so idk if he's still doing it, but he did it for every new expansion that I saw. He never leveled that Hunter, it was made just for those moments. his commitment to it was admirable.
There was a priest on my server during Wrath that would spend all day slow falling from the tallest building in Dalaran and then tell us how far he'd gotten. He almost made it to Wyrmrest Temple once.
Tseric, that poor guy. I really liked him him,he was correct in his breakdown of how CM's are treated,or were treated,it's gotten a little better. When he fought back with those idiots he was done,he was just hammered all the time.I remember the whole thing,I was a AGM and the GM of our guild left to raid with her new boyfriends guild....This is where I quit the game for a while. The nonstop bitching and fighting,it was horrid and just a microcosm of what he had to deal with.
You made the best WoW content. I haven't played the game for years yet I come back to these videos and relive fond memories. Wish you all the best MadSeason.
Man, Gedran was hilarious. "YAR YAR HUMP HUMP!" PS I remember years ago hearing about a group of roleplaying pirates who griefed a ton of players from atop a mountain. They totally stayed in character and even when a mod staff turned up they talked to her in pure pirate. Cannot remember their names but I know I read about them in PC Gamer UK.
What a great vid! I remember so many of these. Good times. Would love to see Gedrah added to this list. He was an Orc Hunter on stormscale back in classic. He was incredibly influential in the hunter community and has an NPC in Outland Shadowmoon valley. Great guy personally too. RIP Tseric
Gedrah was feamous for having all of the extremely rare leatherworking recipes back in vanilla (remember when professions actually a thing?) the in game Gedrah was a leatherworking trainer in shadowmoon valley, Bc. Nice touch.
You misrepresented some of the facts with analogkid. the guild gave him the bow, yes, but the the hunters had no problem with it. kiljaeden was on farm, they didnt have any more content to push, so a bow upgrade was really just for show, and they agreed to give the bow to analogkid because of all of his hard work during progression. the hunters werent upset by it, and they eventually got the bow as well, of course. the drama was on the forums, there was no drama within the guild about it.
Further, he misrepresented how good the bow was. Thori'dal wasn't actually the best bow in the game, there was one other bow that was like a 1% dps increase, but it of course required ammo to use. The truly top tier hunters who cared about those 1% min-maxes, didn't actually care much for the bow outside of bragging rights.
Most infamous Rogue I heard of around TBC, was the Troll Rogue 'Reptile' of Xavius EU. She would miss raids and other important Guild events just to stalk IF or Neutral cities all day, which eventually caused *hated* reputation of some like Gadgetzan, meaning even the AI had her 'kill on sight'. She was also kicked, quickly recruited, then recycled again through many Guilds for prioritising outdoor PvP over anything else - even the famous kick for turning on the rest of her Guild group in Booty Bay Arena. Hundreds of threads were made on that realm's forum about her, the most popular of ones where witch hunts for gold rewards.
i was on area52 when they gave the rogue the bow and the reason they didn't give it to any of the 2 hunters was because they were fresh recruits to the guild and it was their first raid with them. I remember talking to a friend that was in that guild about it and it turned out the 2 hunters quit because of it days later.
Man If only the server Duskwood was just slightly more populated I guarantee the name 'DeadlyStrike' would be famous. He was sort of a server celebrity because everyone knew he was the worst. He gave in to every troll, so much so that he became the troll. A good portion of his pugs he would run (which would be multiple raids every single day) just failed. I got in several of his groups and oh boy was it a good time.
Damn i watched all of these and i never played wow in my life, though in a backwards order, but you have a great and calm voice, topic wasnt that interesting to me, but you gave such great explanations everywhere and laid out stories so well that i understood everything. Great job, keep it up, you have some talent down there + a perfect calming voice. : )
Ragetiger1 My guild in vanilla always plays that over the mic whenever we wipe on Ony.. Funny enough, one of our guildies sounds almost exactly like the guy in the 50 DKP minus video.
Angwe was on dethicus, my server. I remember having to go through him to get to kalimdor. I had no idea he was that much of a legend but Im glad I got to hang out with him a few times
for druids, Alamo teechs u 2 play DURID! was legendary. we got pooped on so much back in the day and his guide made us laugh. not only did he explain the class and all our forms to everyone complaining, but he also told us druids to help one another, "u shuld always halp unother". how beautiful is that?!
I was hoping that Ezra would be on here, I remember back in the day playing on my old realm Norgannon, he was on alot. He was the reason for the Ashes of Alar and they even gave him the mount for himself for free, he died from cancer not longer after. Even has a quest in the beginning of Tauren quests, and also a crossbow or something aswell. Cheers, good video!!
*Belated viewing & Info* Found some info on Ezra: Ezra Chatterton (aka Ephoenix, 1996-2008) was a brain cancer patient from California and an avid player of World of Warcraft who played with his father Micah on the Norgannon US server. Fulfilling his dream of creating a character for World of Warcraft, Ezra visited Blizzard Entertainment's offices through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He worked with Tigole in creating Ahab Wheathoof, a tauren farmer looking for his missing dog Kyle, in Horde 15 [5] Kyle's Gone Missing!; he also provided the voice. Ezra also received the world first [Ashes of Al'ar] (the phoenix was Ezra's personal symbol, as well as his middle name) and created the [Merciless Gladiator's Crossbow of the Phoenix]. Ezra suffered a stroke in August 2008, and passed away on October 20. As the news reached the general public, thousands of players sent messages of condolence, and Horde players journeyed to Mulgore to complete the quest in his memory.[1] Blizzard also paid a special tribute; beginning with 2009's Lunar Festival, the Elder in Thunder Bluff has been renamed Ezra Wheathoof in his memory.
Oh yeah, I remember him. That also reminds me of two artists working at Blizzard, twin brothers that went by the name TwinCruiser. One of them died suddenly at age 19, and a monument was left for him (I think in the Barrens).
Great video and good times, I was in the raid when Analogkid was rewarded the bow. Back then I didnt think it was such a big deal, loyality should be rewarded, and out of the two hunters in the raid, one of them already had the bow and the second one was still a recruit hence they gave the bow to Analog.
It'd be like the local music house finding a stradivarius violin in the shed and letting a 70 y/o tone-deaf member play it instead of a 12 y/o prodigy who just joined the club, I still don't think loyalty should be rewarded in that way, it's really silly
In addition if I remember correctly it wasn't actually Best in Slot for hunters ether due to its firing speed, while it was best in slot for rogues. But its been a long time so I may be off in this.
Yes but at the time of burning crusade the Golden Bow of Quelthalas was debated to be better because arrow dps gave it a higher theoretical dps output.
I'm too lazy to hit the subscribe button. The early days of the game were surely nostalgic and magical but that's because we didn't realize how unpolished and unfinished it was. Now a days, it's almost a ghost town. Well, not really but it's not what it used to be.
Haven't played WoW in YEARS but do miss the old Vanilla WoW days. My first toon back shortly after release was a Night Elf Warrior... Myself and a few other level 20s or so use to corpse crawl sneak to the cow noob zone and would all shadowmeld but one level 2 dude we corpse dragged with us... A noob would see him as an easy target and in their confused state would hit him and thus agro to us who all drop from shadowmeld and kill him and any buddies who helped him lol. Good times :D
Will Green There is a way to get that game back again. Light's Hope, private vanilla server. They just released Zul'gurub and there's thousands of players online around the clock so you always have someone to play with.
In Vanilla, on Shattered Hand, there was an Alliance player named Copperfield who would walk (yes, walk) around Blackrock Mountain in clothes (no armor on). I played Horde and we would see him all the time there and usually just wave to each other, although some players would kill him (and get chastised for it).
A lot of people don't realize, the Leeroy video was staged. The entire thing was planned out in advance...the guild did it intentionally as a sort of parody of "nerd guilds" that meticulously plan out encounters.
From what I've heard, it was a staged video. You can hear the guys almost burst into laughter. But it was a representation of something that actually did happen earlier but they wanted to make a video about it.
Even more ridiculous is that things like this occurred on an almost daily basis in dungeon runs, most notably Blackrock and Strath, with both Hunter pets or the inevitable "damn, I accidentally hit the key" - wipe.
Fairly certain everyone knows it's staged. Doesn't change the impact it had though. The video was so popular people who didn't play or even know what WoW is still ended up seeing or hearing about it.
That funeral is only remembered because of Serenity Now. At the time, people thought they were assholes; but they essentially turned a boring old in-game funeral into one of Warcraft's most memorable events.
Neat video. I've played since the beginning and I've only heard of a couple of those guys. I was very surprised that Ming didn't get mentioned. The rogue who condescended people and wouldn't even talk to you unless you were high ranked in PVP. He was a legend in his own mind. He was criticized for his garbage videos where he pretended like he was an awesome player. One day, he vanished. Then when I saw forum people posted, I was surprised that guy Bigguns was left out. He was a low level alt who used to get into debates with people and was usually always right. He was one of the first people to get criticized for not posting on their main but opened people's eyes to the concept that truth is truth, no matter what toon you post it on. This was back when even forum moderators had the mindset of "disagreeing = trolling" and banned him for it. He made an appeal and got the forum ban lifted. He then made a thread discussing it. Embarrassed, the moderator who banned him deleted the thread. He was around for a long time. I was also very surprised that Shazaman wasn't mentioned. He was another low level alt who debunked "we twink only to fight other twinks" myth years and years ago. He successfully fended off any and all retorts including trolls. He disappeared one day, not sure if he was banned or not. He was around for a long time too. I was also there when the Tseric situation happened. Tseric was just a bitter nerd who wanted to use the forums for his own personal soapbox and hid behind his moderator status as protection.
Is bigguns the reason why the tos for blizz forums is so draconian? I kinda couldnt believe it while reading it, the bit about getting banned for posting about a removed post and what have you. Its really a great insight into the company culture that allowed the harassment to continue, the might is right mentality. The hiding behind trying to keep anything bad from being said about anyone that prevents people from reporting abuse. Its the single best example of the damage censorship does. When people dont want to hear the bad things, they proliferate cause nobodys talking about them.
@@xijinpingsfavoritehemorrho1328 The forum rules are idiotic. They're written in a vague/generic way so that the moderators can freely cherry-pick what to infract. If you say something that makes them look bad, you get banned. They'll lump anything they personally don't like into a generic category of "nonconstructive" which can encompass 90% of all the posts on their entire forum.
@@matthewdavis5486 Exactly its really transparent. The car repair forum i use doesnt remove posts that are just pics of a guys car even though its nonconstructive, cause they want the community to , you know, like the mods.
Not perhaps famous worldwide, but I will never forget Kuroma from daggerspine. This dude was grand marshal for MONTHS, seemed like the entirety of vanilla. He is still relevant in daggerspine's pvp from what I can see. Dude has more than 528k HK's. He was a legend, and all my RL friends STILL talk about him to this day.
Watched the video in hopes that Kuroma would be mentioned! I too played on daggerspine over a decade ago in classic as a troll hunter. I remember Kuroma being alliance Druid and always tangle with him in world pvp. Epic times!
@@terbofishing6402 Alliance had Kuroma, Horde had Keytal; one of the greatest PvP SP players in the world at the time. His videos were huge, and they have been uploaded to TH-cam.
World Of Warcraft was the best MMO hands down and my biggest regret was not playing it ,as I was a free to play grind loving player for a long time since the 2000's so I know what's up but my family couldn't afford a good PC and when I finally could afford a decent laptop my attention was already caught by other games ,I know my life would have been definitely ruined in so many ways by this game but damn..what an awesome time to be alive and witness how it evolved ,even the toxic community was civilised 😢😭,nowadays ..at least we have the memories and stories .

Nostalgic stuff dude, thank you for this! I was thinking about Hamstring Rage during this, but that doesnt fit any particular criteria :D I like your Street Fighter outro!
Back in Vanilla, on Earthen Ring, there was a Paladin (on Alliance side, obviously) who was such a good general in Alterac Valley, that whenever he joined the game, Horde side would basically just quit. I was Horde side, so I observed this first hand, through the chat. This was back when AV games would last for a whole day, sometimes more, so wanting a quick AV match was NOT a thing back then - they were epic fights, and there was pride put into it from both sides... quitting was not an option. But this guy just made people quit outright. A few times we actually fought back, and I think I won against him once or twice, but that was it. Can't actually remember the name anymore, but he was legendary on the server back then.
I know 2 people who were in the Pals For Life guild and played with Leeroy back in the day. They both said the video was staged, with some subtle/not-so-subtle signs that it was. They were basically recreating a similar instance that happened during a raid that wasn’t caught on video.
Angwe was on my server. He camped the docks and killed people waiting for the boat. He was really nice but he infuriated people and he was a good player. He killed me dozens of times.

If Indalamar is 'The Warrior' then you should also talk about Mute from 'World of Roguecraft 1-3' showing that Rogues could kill someone while being naked and with a 2dps weapon. Also, I hope to see some more Famous PvP players in the next vid, from back then like Drakedog, Vurtne, Swifty and others.
On the PvP server I was on decades ago...we had the entire cast of saved by the bell invade orgamar as gnome toons. Everywhere there were bodies of Slater, Zack, screech, and even Mr belding joined in to litter the streets as the guards defended our capitol.
You can call it dating, relationships, marriage, prostitution or porn.. it's all the same thing. Women trading (potential) sexual favours against not having to work in life is how women have survived for millenia.
Are you kidding me? It's a whole world of its own in there. Celebrities galore, regular people, important guilds/clans (because every world needs a corporation)... Can't stand the game myself, the gameplay puts me to sleep early game, but the way that it's set itself up is a wondrous thing to look at.
I know you weren't much into TH-cam personnel, but Swifty was an amazing Warrior that used only 1 1-h Weapon and an OH that slowly did damage to himself, so he couldn't be CC'd in PvP; which made him absolutely domineering, along w/his high BWL Raid gear. Also, Faxmonkey was a Troll Mage that showed the true potential of Mages back in the day and how to play Frost Spec properly in PvP, both in BGs and World PvP.
my favourite thing about this video is that it's the first I saw by you and every single video I've seen since has been in the exact same way, in the exact same (outstanding) quality :)

Also remember about 3 or 4 of these (not to mention Leeroy.
* ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
i'm actually surprised that there is nothing about level 58 death knights (p.s love your channel nixxiom)

Saw a human character just chilling in Orgrimmar fishing the other day. No one bothered them. It was kinda nice.
How did neither the Human Player and Orc Player not get killed???
The first one had me dying of laughter XD

I remember meeting an undead rogue in vanilla wow on a pvp server inside a random empty bar in Stormwind surrounded by his Alliance friends. This undead Rogue, who was shrunken due to noggenfogger, had actually figured out the language system and was able to type Orcish in such a way that it was readable to people who spoke Common.
Sitting around drinking with people I'd never met, interacting with a horde member peacefully for the first time trying to learn his language was one of the best, most surreal gaming experiences I've had.

Nice story! :)
good for you. chalk one up for the good guys. counter griefing griefers ... HILARIOUS
Great story.... 😂😂😂😂
loved it ;)
Reading didn't disappoint ;)
My brother told me of a rogue called Knives (Mal'ganis I think) in Burning Crusade who was in a group that killed Kael'thas and had his phoenix mount drop. The loot system was set to rolls instead of master loot. They were told to skip and redo the loot under master loot. Knives rolled need on it, got it, and quit. He quickly became infamous on that server as he would AFK in Orgrimmar on the mount and everyone would come to spit on him.
You couldn't use flying mounts outside outlands in TBC so its probably Shattrath you're thinking of.
no, he isn't, the mount from kael'thas that he is talking about is a ground mount, cause he is talking about magister's terrace
I'm pretty sure you could mount a flying mount in Azeroth, you just couldn't fly with it. Back in TBC that is

He yelled at him for being on a roleplay server and says he should join a normal server instead, but the dwarf literally joined in on the roleplay whole heartedly

everything. its made extremely easy, dumbed down and for unskilled casual players. thats why the subscriber numbers dropped by half when that started happening after the third expansion.the casuals were still playing the game when it was hardcore, they just were not good. by making the game easier and easier with every expansion they just made their hardcore fans quit. casual players are toxic trashes(mad cuz bad), not consistent and will quit the game at the first sight of a change that they dont like because they dont care about the game(like the new improved leveling right now. they are all threatening to unsubscribe). thats why u DONT try to please the casuals... since the 4th expansion everything has been done to please the casuals, yet they have never stopped crying and complaining about everything. im sure blizzard already saw their own mistake. i came back now and what i saw is a completely different game with a lot of things straight up deleted from the game...
many things, ive quit myself even thought I think legion was a great expansion until a certain point, the best one since wlk. ill try to resume.
1- Classes are boring, most classes feel the same.
2- Gameplay depth was dumbed down (i think this is the expression) now there is very little mechanic to the rotations you can do it without even looking at the screen.
3- Pvp is boring
4- Pve is also boring , this might be because I play since a long time.
Fantastic.

(To clarify the only thing my grandma knew about games was when I was even smaller and played Commandos 2 where in the intro is a Hitler flailing his arms around so she came to a conclusion games=bad in about 3 seconds :^))
So when she heard it's a PC game she was like "Nah, gon smack you up and ask something different."
So then I just said I want a little cake from nearby cake shop.
We went there, I ate my cake, was about to head back home but grandma probably saw how sad I was so she was like "Fine, I'll buy you the stupid game, but I wanna see your school grades every month, once it will be even slightly worse I'm gonna take your game away"
Isn't my grandma nice lady?
TBC came out and soon after WotLK came too and I was still without a any way to play the game (Honestly if there was any way to play the game and not paying monthly I didn't know about it and all of my friends told me it HAD to be payed monthly)
And then when we were cleaning before christmass I found the box with the game.
My friend came over the day right after christmass and told me that there are
P R I V A T E S E R V E R S
Where you don't need to pay ... well you've guessed it, I went to my PC, called him on skype and went on a huge night figuring out how to connect to a private server.
Yes I might played Runescape and play it TO THIS FUCKING DAY (With OSRS releasing on mobile the most of the time at work is some agility training or something I won't do in my free time)
Well there I was Undead Warlock starting out really fast against another warlock (forgot which race he was) and in this short period of time I've met so many people, so many great friends which I talk with to this day ... it was crazy.
To clarify english isn't my native language so I had a real bad time trying to say what I¨ve ment and one day he just said "Wanna call on teamspeak?"
So I agreed and it was the cringiest, weirdest and fucking the most hilarious call in a history.
We just say HEY, HELLO and then it was fucking 15 minutes of silence and awkward coughs.
Once we went over that he started talking about how to deal with this location and that location and to add he was only 1 year older at that time so not that he was some fatass nerd in search of friends or some kind of pedophil, well
And to skip the rest it was near our fight, when I've met ~10 people from the guild and my friend joined another guild.
We both agreed on a place where we will fight and I don't exactly know the name of the location, but I know it was in a Alliance territory.
I said at the guild I'm heading off, and 7 guys said they'll go with me to see the battle (mostly just to make fun of us how much we suck I think)
And once I told my friend not to be scared but I'll have few people with me.
It was a close fight but the first round was his (We went for BO5)
Then it was my victory and the round after I've won again.
It was 1:2 me being one victory away from taking this 1v1 home and after the talk between the two guilds I let him win so it was 2:2
Fucking sweaty hands and forehead, my guildmembers cheering me up whilst his cheering him, but then the unthinkable happend.
He lives in Sweden and I live in Czech Republic ... and finally I've saved enough money to be able to fly over there and visit him... damn even by playing Runescape for over 15 years soon I've never had such a great memory as this one which happend in a single week of playing on a Private server ... damn

The Onyxia Wipe video is the reason that the Raid Leader from Hearthstone says, "Handle It"
Hit it *very* hard!
There was a guy who used to run a guild on Executus called Devastation, The Guild was called Tindi Losi. And his rants were quite Epic
‘MORE DOTS’ the references to this video are endless with a lot of them being ingame
Since I know we are going to miss these video's I'm rewatching all of them on a weekly basis :) You will not be forgotten my dear friend!
Loved this video, keep up the good work!
Never change, Moonguard.
lol
Deadly Wanderer I was there from the day the server launched. BC era was amazing. Today...eughh...
Please never change, so i can keep dishonoring the alliance scum faction.
Back before they quarantined Moonguard from the CRZ, someone from WRA actually outdid them. With a horse. In public emotes. *shudder*
RIP Mayorbanks and Nljay.
I had totally forgotten about the Onyxia wipe. My God! that was so hillarious at the time and even now! thanks for this!
On my server(back during the WotLK invasion events), there was a level 1 Hunter who, every day at the same time, would run through Org yelling "the ghouls are coming! the ghouls are coming!" and then Feign Death outside the AH(he would stay there for about an hour, sometimes moving so he wouldn't get kicked, but always FD'd again)
People used to crowd around and wait for him and /cheer him on or /pat him to make him feel better.
Level 1 hunters have never had feign death, though.
I remember him=)
@@eldiablo1467 seems like a major plot hole.
There was a priest on my server during Wrath that would spend all day slow falling from the tallest building in Dalaran and then tell us how far he'd gotten. He almost made it to Wyrmrest Temple once.
Paladin Leeroy is also alive in Dark Souls 1 where you encounter him before Gravelord Neeto's tomb if you aren't hollow.. .

"YAR YAR HUMP HUMP!"
PS I remember years ago hearing about a group of roleplaying pirates who griefed a ton of players from atop a mountain. They totally stayed in character and even when a mod staff turned up they talked to her in pure pirate. Cannot remember their names but I know I read about them in PC Gamer UK.
"It be a sea goddess here to punish me crew for our sins!"
Nice touch.
pekosbob JUICE!! Yassss
Wow funny. I posted this then ran into Gedrah at the Hunter class hall. Had no idea be was out here too! (first time hunter leveling)
Your calm explanation of the Onyxia wipe juxtaposed with Dives screaming is wonderful.
Hundreds of threads were made on that realm's forum about her, the most popular of ones where witch hunts for gold rewards.
a true rogue.
i was on area52 when they gave the rogue the bow and the reason they didn't give it to any of the 2 hunters was because they were fresh recruits to the guild and it was their first raid with them. I remember talking to a friend that was in that guild about it and it turned out the 2 hunters quit because of it days later.
Yep, I played on that server at that time too. The bow went to the right place =)
Wonkington Gaming I remember around that time a lot of people were guild hoping too.
The legendary wasn't even bis since they buffed ammo without buffing the bow.
well fair enough id quit too lol
Yeah a lot of beta males play this game now
I can’t wait till blizz introduces the quest where we have to find mad seasons other emotions.
I got in several of his groups and oh boy was it a good time.
holy shit we played on the same server. i played from WotLk to mid Cata - I remember him raging in Stormwind.
Wow, I actually remember Angwe. I played on Dethecus as Kroveron, a night elf priest, and I recall being ganked by him more than a few times. Ugh.
I played there too as Tatters the Undead mage. Angwe was a legend.
Still remenber this level 60 human warrior named Cobb with his Arcanite Reaper, decimating everything, Good times. Now it's totally diferent.

*Belated viewing & Info*
Found some info on Ezra:
Ezra Chatterton (aka Ephoenix, 1996-2008) was a brain cancer patient from California and an avid player of World of Warcraft who played with his father Micah on the Norgannon US server.
I was on Norg. Alliance side though. Eternal Keggers what what!!
Ezra was the first person to get an NPC named after him as well as a weapon. RIP kid, you won’t be forgotten.
Back then I didnt think it was such a big deal, loyality should be rewarded, and out of the two hunters in the raid, one of them already had the bow and the second one was still a recruit hence they gave the bow to Analog.
muSPK oh, wow. Thanks for sharing that :)
Yes but at the time of burning crusade the Golden Bow of Quelthalas was debated to be better because arrow dps gave it a higher theoretical dps output.
the reason they did not give it to the "newbie" is because there were tons of clan hoppers.
It’s like 10 years later and I’m still dreaming of playing wow ...
I'm too lazy to hit the subscribe button. The early days of the game were surely nostalgic and magical but that's because we didn't realize how unpolished and unfinished it was. Now a days, it's almost a ghost town. Well, not really but it's not what it used to be.
Had to watch your videos again. Hope you have a great time with whatever you do now
Haven't played WoW in YEARS but do miss the old Vanilla WoW days.
They just released Zul'gurub and there's thousands of players online around the clock so you always have someone to play with.
i quit just after bc came out
to much drama lol
Yeah, I remember a lot of these from back in the day, good times.
Leeroy's story is a sad one, fucking blizzard cashed in on his hilariousness, while himself and his friends got nothing in return
did you expect anything less
This is Blizzard we’re talking about here
Eugene InLaw He got to be a guest at a blizzcon and is semi famous, so there's that.

do you know why they shut i down?
You just destroyed my hopes and dreams.
Today everyone uses the "my cat jumped on my keyboard" excuse.

Yeah, I was waiting for it, but then I realized this is about individual players, not entire guilds.
If it was my funeral I would have been glad that the last thing I did was make a big world pvp battle
That funeral is only remembered because of Serenity Now. At the time, people thought they were assholes; but they essentially turned a boring old in-game funeral into one of Warcraft's most memorable events.

I still think they were assholes. I don't comprehend.
Matthew Davis he was probably like that because everyone in the game was a shit talker back then.
@@bhec7715 Who are you referring to?
@@xijinpingsfavoritehemorrho1328 The forum rules are idiotic. They're written in a vague/generic way so that the moderators can freely cherry-pick what to infract. If you say something that makes them look bad, you get banned.
Horde had a huge disadvantage on vanilla AV, and quit anyway.
Good to see another paladin being an absolute boss (not me if you're wondering)

If Indalamar is 'The Warrior' then you should also talk about Mute from 'World of Roguecraft 1-3' showing that Rogues could kill someone while being naked and with a 2dps weapon.
Also, I hope to see some more Famous PvP players in the next vid, from back then like Drakedog, Vurtne, Swifty and others.
WotLK pvp legends Hoodrych, Venruki, Vanguards, Nadagast all had items named after them and even some npcs.
Mute was the Warlock. Just thought I'd throw that in there :P
he did not want to include the big youtubers/streamers cause most of us know them already =)
I still have those vids on my drive lol. I found all my old WoW vids from vanilla, so many pre-battle grounds fun.
I think you mean Grimm?
On the PvP server I was on decades ago...we had the entire cast of saved by the bell invade orgamar as gnome toons. Everywhere there were bodies of Slater, Zack, screech, and even Mr belding joined in to litter the streets as the guards defended our capitol.
What about that girl who exchanged her sex for a legendary mount costing 1000 gold?
Exchanged her sex??
Cao Cao
Right? Not sure if it means her gender or sex sex
I imagine he tried to say that she exchanged sexual favours for in-game items but it's kind of amazing to see it written like that :D
If she still has that 1000g mount then she has one of the rarest mounts ingame now loool
You can call it dating, relationships, marriage, prostitution or porn.. it's all the same thing. Women trading (potential) sexual favours against not having to work in life is how women have survived for millenia.
"And that would be the World of Warcraftuh." - Alex Trebek
Yo I’m getting hyped up for vanilla wow. I love your content. I remember all these references over the years!
I come back to this video every so often just to re-hear the legend of Angwe.
I didn't know warcraft players had official celebrity rankings
Are you kidding me? It's a whole world of its own in there. Celebrities galore, regular people, important guilds/clans (because every world needs a corporation)...
Can't stand the game myself, the gameplay puts me to sleep early game, but the way that it's set itself up is a wondrous thing to look at.
Liked before even watching because I know it's gonna be great.
