A followup to my famous/infamous players video as requested. You can find the original here: th-cam.com/video/e0Xp96z6IxE/w-d-xo.html . Just a note on the last one(serenity now) since I know it's going to be controversial: I don't have a stance on it. In the video I tried to be as neutral as possible so you all could form your own opinions on it. I feel that not talking about them wouldn't be right in a video labeled "The most famous and *infamous* " - I think most people would agree that they are the most infamous guild in the history of the game. You can discuss it amongst yourselves all you want, but leave me out of it. I just wanted to be the neutral party that provides the info. Anyways, if you think I missed someone and you'd like to make a suggestion, feel free! I have quite the long list already but it never hurts to get more. Hope you enjoy the video.
The Saronite Bomb glitch was a known bug when the raid was in the PTR builds. They used that knowledge to gain the "unfair advantage" that comes with exploiting bugs. SFD was a good one. It's pure dictatorship, but perfect leadership. All seen in nearly all progression guilds - the hive mind.
MadSeasonShow i remember playing in a guild called "roadrunners" on a german server. The guild leader had the name "Monkalamar" and was one of the nicest guys i've ever met. One day we got a new member and couldnt believe it. This member was *blind* . But our leader wasnt afraid using him and put hope in him...and we did it. Complete some raids with a blind person and a guy who couldnt hear well. I will never forget this. :,)
I was in a guild in vanilla called Corp Hur. It was by far the best guild on the server. Our guild leader, named Avatar, was very similar to this guy. Tanked Nef on a hunter in vanilla when most couldn't even clear BWL. I always look to see him in these videos because of how famous he was on Warsong.
What Serenity Now did was disgusting, but there was a response on the forums at the time that stuck with me: "If I died in real life and my guild held a funeral for me in-game, I would be disappointed if no-one ganked it..."
Different opinion over here. A real person died and people used WoW as a way to "come together" in some way, perhaps the only viable way they had. The memorial had nothing to do with the actual game, it was a moment to express grief over the loss of a friend. There's no fun intended in such events, and putting "it's a pvp server!" over a real tragedy is the most disgusting thing I could think of in a video game.
The solution was really simple though. They didn't have to meet in a contested neutral zone. They could have met in front of Undercity where there are tons of people, or in some place within Orgrimmar. Maybe the idea was that the pond seemed to fit the atmosphere but it was sort of idiotic of the organizers to host it there on a PvP server. No Alliance guild is going to march into a major city to stop a funeral successfully. They will simply be outnumbered. Was it right for Serenity Now to do what they did? Probably not. But it's like setting up an event in the middle of an active warzone. Of course people are going to take advantage, especially when you put it out on the forums for anyone to see. Anyone who has played WoW knows that people are dicks and grief other people regardless of the consequences.
Not quite so simple - if you read into it, you will find that they met in Winterspring because it was the deceased's favorite zone... I certainly understand what you are saying, but it wasn't done in a contested area to bait anyone, either.
I think the part about it being a game was missed here. While someone dying is a good reason for mourning and such... It's still a game and things like this happen in video games...
Now he's on medication after spiraling out of control and badmouthing all of the current best raid guilds only to fall once more into irrelevancy. Like a real king.

6 years behind but thank you for being the first non-swedish speaker I've heard that actually tried to pronounce something right. you said Kungen perfectly for a non-speaker
Great Video MadSeason I love these videos I don't play WOW any more but I did for 12 years shame with some of the ways the game changed but maybe with Metzen back they may improve it finally.
Great video. And the way you pronounced 'Kungen' was good! If you're still taking suggestions, have you ever heard of the Chinese guild 'NIGHTMARE' on Frostwhisper-EU during vanilla? People were afraid of that guild because as soon as you killed one of them, somehow, the entire guild would show up. They were always online and they were always ready.
Best part they posted a photo of them all crowding around the dead girls character like as if it was a world first down boss photo and posted the photos and videos online. That's what made it worse lol. I guarantee you many retired vanilla players still hate serenity now till this date
I mean it's sad and all and I have massive respect for the guild who hosted the memorial but if I was deceased, I'd love to have an in game memorial like that. I'd be rolling in my grave laughing.
Fuck off, whiteknight. People are not actually laughing at a dead person with the intention of disrespecting them, its just some typical brainless internet mumble, get over it.
@MadSeasonShow please hear me out. I want to let you know that by far this is the best part of your channel. This is the best series on your channel. If you can actually summon these every now and then somehow and squeeze every last drop of these players that would be amazing. I'm one of these type of players too. I can relate to some of these people. I remember nearly every single one of these happening live because Im old. I hope that you can dig deeper and find even more players even if it's modern. It's very interesting to see these personalities come out in game
The dudes who ruined the funeral outraged alot of the players at the time. While I'm sure their intent was entirely negative but in hindsight what transpired over the years is the infamousity of the event. I fear death as much as the next guy but once I'm dead my fear is that my name will be lost to time. The majority of us will be forgotten but only a choosen few will be remembered. In this case at least people will still talk about this from time to time so that's something

Serenity Now bombs a world of Warcraft funeral is probably my favorite video of all time. I try to watch it at least once a year because it gives me a very nostalgic feeling. I really hate that you can't find the original on TH-cam anymore because I loved the music in it.
Back in EQ 1, I was on Talon Zek, a PVP server. I learned to do an instant (mouse turn, swipe, reversal, backstab) move with my rogue. This allowed me to backstab - at will - Mobs as well as other players in PVP. This move took me hours and hours over days to perfect (outside of MMORPGs, I didn't play video games outside of solitaire, so in general, I wasn't that good on the keyboard). Once I perfected it, it was very cool producing massive damage stats on Mobs and winning most PVP battles. However, even back then, I was an elderly grandmother, today great grandmother, and my wrist would get sore doing it in a relative short time of gaming. I started to get a RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury) and started icing my wrist after game nights. Even though I worked a full time job and couldn't play every night, after a while, my wrist hurt even after rest. So, I stopped doing it except on special occasions. The problem was if I didn't practice it constantly, I would mess it up ending up backwards to the mob or players back rather than arriving facing their back. Eventually, I just stopped trying to do it and as a result, I avoided a permanent RSI. But it was fun while it lasted. .
When they made him into a roaming boss with apparently no limits to how far he'll chase you if you bait him, I'd have been disappointed if no one had taken the initiative to lead him into Stormwind. SHADOW BOLTS FOR EVERYONE!
In my old days playing I used to be a PvP player, I used to spend my free time while waiting or just being bored protecting low levels from getting ganked and basically patrolling gadgetzan and going where i was asked to go, usually the ganker would call some friends with higher GS or just to try to outnumber me but as a fucking DK i would just shred them all easily, if that was my ING funeral i would definitly fucking love to get it ganked not by only a guild but by every enemy player in the final battle i would have there, it would be epic and memorable for everyone that would know me, but for god sake, that girl loved to fish because she liked the water sound.. im pretty sure she didnt wanted that to happen
Outside their server, they're legends, when I think about the good old wow days, I think about serenity now, grimm and unbreakable. The montage vids will never be the same
Having come from Illidan, the server the Funeral Crash happened on. It...Really hampered the Alliance side, in my opinion. It slowly became more Horde dominant after because of this. I actually raided with Serenity Now during my WoTLK days, and I think once or twice in Cata. I wasn't in the guild, I just took what I could get when it came to raids. It's definitely a disgusting event, but it also showed how seriously the PvP element was taken on that server. PvP'ers on Illidan didn't fuck around. For better...And...Definitely for worse here
I remember watching the funeral raid when I was like 10? So many firsts for me. First wow experience, first scatman experience, first notion of trolling as I watched my mates dad cackle hysterically at it. Good memories.
"she loved fishing...and pvp" (what the Serenity Now guy says before ganking the dead player's character) may be the greatest line ever uttered in any mmo ever
Did you ever hear of the Mithril King? I heard he played on some realm in vanilla and knew some secret routes for optimal mithril mining. Legend says he always bought out all mithril on the AH and held a monopoly on mithril on the realm.
Being perma locked is the opposite of interesting when it's happening to you. This was one of a few things that were legitimately broken in vanilla. Diminishing returns helped a lot though.
@@joshuatucker2521 Sure. It can also be argued that rogues needed it to actually be killers, which was the lore of the class. It was just a poor game mechanic for almost everyone else. Particularly if you were a shaman or a prot warrior. Playing shaman on PVP servers didn't really become even slightly fun until earth shield was introduced in BC, and then all the rogues immediately started whining that their free kills had disappeared.
@@politicallycorrectredskin796 I remember leveling a warlock in vanilla. Being jumped by a rogue was pretty much a death sentence before level 42 as that's when you got death coil. It's astounding how long it took Blizzard to pay any kind of attention to the ridiculous amount of stun locks that rogues could do!
@@johnzackarias11 Yeah, lock was bad. But the absolute pits was shaman. Zero escape, no counters, even at level 60. The only thing you could do if you were lucky was to spec imp ghost wolf and run away quickly. But that wasn't possible if you got locked obviously, so usually you just died. Pretty sure earth shield was designed specifically for Burning Crusade to help shamans against rogues. I can remember rogues on my server whining that their free kills had disappeared...
@@politicallycorrectredskin796 That's one of the reasons why I, during my brief time as a max level shaman, only played PVE. I could never get used to the PVP style of shamans! Either way, I do remember TBC rogues suddenly not being overlords anymore. Not powerless by any stretch, but definitely less impossible to beat for several classes.
It might've been to honor their friend in some way, since they were all so big into pvp. It was probably also to show respect to the other side's players as well.
They probably did it on purpose. I mean. WinterSpring is literally an open world battleground. Fishing in WinterSpring?.... I bet you, the guild was PvP based. The player probably loved PvP, and the leader of the guild probably knew said person, as well. It's too much of a setup.

My casual ass never knew doubleagent was a famous player. I actually remember seeing him as I was playing a long time ago and thinking, ‘how did this guy manage to do it?’ Guess I found out.
Then you would know that that's not thow thier funerals looked. At all. Wouldnt suprise me if you're one of the people who think they had horns in their helmets..
I remember back in TBC on one of my characters, a mage in Shattrath and I tried to attack something outside and was not able to. In fact, all NPC's wouldn't be able to see/attack/interact with me. I was given an error that stated something to the effect of "Battlemasters, something, something aren't able to perform that action" every time I tried to interact. After trying to whisper a random person in Shattrath, he was absolutely shocked to see the tag next to my name even though I was not able to see it but it made perfect sense why I was invisible and unable to interact with anything. I was an innocent young noob and just wanted to play the game so I made a ticket and every thing was set back to normal. I've never heard anyone else having this kind of experience.
18:10 something similar happened in Planetside a outfit held a 500+ person funeral for a member who passed and a rival outfit created characters of the same faction just to crash it, it's kind if hard to find the details for it however I do know the outfit involved did take steps to prevent such trolling. There was another back in 2020 for Ezrason that took place in the Sanctuary (a neutral zone), four instances of the place had to be made because of how many people from all three factions showed up, it thankfully wasn't crashed.
Vurtne was the most prolific mage in the history of WoW and deserved a spot, if anyone else did, on this list. Even though, watching his videos now, I'm about 80% certain he was using tool assisted iceblocks, as he blocks 100% of death coils in his videos.
they were known to glitch and exploit alot of bosses and they never got banned. they pushed their luck and finally got caught. and ignore what cow says here. it wasnt a common dps rotation having the bombs in their inventory. ensidia found out the bombs were glitched on the test server and had all their guys power level engineering to exploit it to get world first.

Dude, I freaking love this series. I don't even play anymore but I find these so fascinating even though I knew most of these ones. Keep making these!
the best thing with Kungen and Nihilum was that they didnt use any kind of voice comms for raids until late late of BC :D
i thought they did but they were in different channels depending on what language they spoke
damn i completely forgot about that, but then again you didnt really need it back then since everyone had only one or two tasks to do.
40 man raids you needed something. Raids were still a challenge even with minor task because of the scale of raids and difficulty.
kungen lead 40 man from /rw down to every single raid cooldown. his focus was crazy. it must be related to him being bipolar
I would argue the best part is that kungen talks about how legion is easy right now when if you watch his tank gameplay from when he was "showing off" in WoD he's actually garbage at the game now haha
Diablo 1 tristram theme, red alert 2 hellmarch and scatman
Dat f*cking 8bit scatman remix at the end tho
Neutral mediator effectively communicating he found it hilarious
I just finished watching your first one. What incredible timing!
Love your modest yet quality vids as always, and keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching, and for letting me know you enjoyed them! Always motivating to hear I'm hitting the mark.
10:56 "His rage bar was full both in game and out of game" xD
MadSeasonShow red shirt guy still writes there. Check his Twitter for links to where he talks about upcoming expansion speculation
The Saronite Bomb glitch was a known bug when the raid was in the PTR builds. They used that knowledge to gain the "unfair advantage" that comes with exploiting bugs.
SFD was a good one. It's pure dictatorship, but perfect leadership. All seen in nearly all progression guilds - the hive mind.
keep up the amazing content dude
MadSeasonShow i remember playing in a guild called "roadrunners" on a german server. The guild leader had the name "Monkalamar" and was one of the nicest guys i've ever met. One day we got a new member and couldnt believe it. This member was *blind* . But our leader wasnt afraid using him and put hope in him...and we did it. Complete some raids with a blind person and a guy who couldnt hear well. I will never forget this. :,)
keep it going MadSeason. Can't wait to see episode 3
I was in a guild in vanilla called Corp Hur. It was by far the best guild on the server. Our guild leader, named Avatar, was very similar to this guy. Tanked Nef on a hunter in vanilla when most couldn't even clear BWL. I always look to see him in these videos because of how famous he was on Warsong.
after your latest video drop today, ive gone down the rabbit hole of rewatching old videos. Glad to have ya back man.
I liked the way you explained and introduced the people in the first vid,as well as this vid keep up the good work!
What Serenity Now did was disgusting, but there was a response on the forums at the time that stuck with me:
"If I died in real life and my guild held a funeral for me in-game, I would be disappointed if no-one ganked it..."
Boo fucking hoo. Its a game get over it. You cant expect people to feel the same way as you do about things/People dead or alive.
I love the music you put in your videos. I always have to look the songs up after
For people that do not know, Kungen means "The king" in Swedish. I remember this player from when I was a kid, he was a legend ;-).
Now he's on medication after spiraling out of control and badmouthing all of the current best raid guilds only to fall once more into irrelevancy. Like a real king.
Your pronounciation of "Kungen" is spot on!
Oh man, the bit about Tommy and his troubles with hamstring had me dying. I'm so glad you included that.
I believe Dives passed away. I had researched that a few years ago, also he was loved by his guild and expected the yelling.

@@mihaimoldotrust me bro
man, at 6:47 hearing that Old Tristram music from the very first Diablo gave me goosebumps. Haven't heard it in years. Diablo 1 is what started it all for me in gaming
6 years behind but thank you for being the first non-swedish speaker I've heard that actually tried to pronounce something right. you said Kungen perfectly for a non-speaker
"Yeaaaaaaah, I waaaaant that!" She had it coming
Nice 8-bit Scat-man bro!
Added to the list...I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion! Sounds interesting.
Pepperidge Farm and I, dude.
"His rage bar was full both in game, and out of game." The cheek!
That 8-bit Scatman cracks me up man!!
Fun fact. I watched Kungen and Nihilum down Kel Thuzard when working at Blizzard. A couple of us where floating around the instance at the time.
Defias Bandit sure you did pizza hut employee. Mark zuckerburg was my college room mate. We went to Hogwarts together.
Defias Bandit do you still work at blizzard? I have always wanted to work for them.
It's offensive when people actually do something with their lives, right?
Ohh thats what you get paid for. Everything makes sense now
Aw CuriousPirate is mad that nothing interesting will ever happen to him in his sad life.
Did not expect that glorious red alert hell march music at 14:00
That ninja looter parody video still cracks me up to this day.
That last clip is like instead of the red wedding from game of thrones it's the red funeral. lol
Best part they posted a photo of them all crowding around the dead girls character like as if it was a world first down boss photo and posted the photos and videos online. That's what made it worse lol. I guarantee you many retired vanilla players still hate serenity now till this date
Zac Lemus that's actually hilarious lmao...
Wasn't it a stroke, not cancer?
I mean it's sad and all and I have massive respect for the guild who hosted the memorial but if I was deceased, I'd love to have an in game memorial like that. I'd be rolling in my grave laughing.
Fuck off, whiteknight. People are not actually laughing at a dead person with the intention of disrespecting them, its just some typical brainless internet mumble, get over it.
Allen Tear That is the dumbest comparation i've readed on youtube so far
@MadSeasonShow please hear me out. I want to let you know that by far this is the best part of your channel. This is the best series on your channel. If you can actually summon these every now and then somehow and squeeze every last drop of these players that would be amazing. I'm one of these type of players too. I can relate to some of these people. I remember nearly every single one of these happening live because Im old. I hope that you can dig deeper and find even more players even if it's modern. It's very interesting to see these personalities come out in game
"...Tommy was not a fan of this technique.." :D
The dudes who ruined the funeral outraged alot of the players at the time. While I'm sure their intent was entirely negative but in hindsight what transpired over the years is the infamousity of the event. I fear death as much as the next guy but once I'm dead my fear is that my name will be lost to time. The majority of us will be forgotten but only a choosen few will be remembered. In this case at least people will still talk about this from time to time so that's something
Evry name will be forgotten. Do you know the name of anyone from the stone age? Sooner or later all the information the humanity have gatherd will be erased. Embrace it and don´t feel to bad that you are a nobody.
@@kallmannkallmann Uh No. In the stone age the only way of them keeping records was carving into stone walls lol now we have technology which will let things live on forever.
@@madenerg3555
Exactly. The Stone Age comparison was completely wrong.

@@madenerg3555

@@madenerg3555 eventually our technology will be like carvings in a cave
As a Swede, your pronunciation of Kungen was fine. The first one, especially, sounded extremely close to 100% correct.
Also, nice background choice at around 15 to 16 minutes. XD
To be honest. If I had an in game memorial that resulted in a large PvP war remembered 10 years after the fact, I'd be stoked.
youd be dead lad not stoked. It's canny harsh tbh, the only people who actually get hurt when ur dead are the ones u left behind. They shouldn't have done that.
@@creepychris420 Don't count on gankers to show any civility when the opportunity to gank is there. They get all itchy in their assholes to kill people who cannot fight back effectively.
@@creepychris420 the horde got horde tactics pulled on them
That last one has to be the single most hilarious thing I has ever heard, being done on a game. Not just crashing the funeral but murdering everyone there....And it's my guess, in that players memory lmfao. Bruh Zero Chill it's completely hilarious.
Riggnaros from Blood Legion had some epic rage moments as well.
Love the command and conquer music. Ah the nostalgia
"His rage bar was filled both in game and out of game..."
Epic comment... 😎
But it was fun while it lasted.
.
Wasn't there some dude who led kazzak to stormwind where he killed everyone
I thought Kazzak attacked Stormwind on his own way back when. I remember reading about it, but never encountered it myself.
That became a pretty common thing, at least on my original server. Horde hunter's would kite him there quite a bit.
When they made him into a roaming boss with apparently no limits to how far he'll chase you if you bait him, I'd have been disappointed if no one had taken the initiative to lead him into Stormwind. SHADOW BOLTS FOR EVERYONE!
Let's not forget the kiting of sharondis feathermoon to org and killing tons of people
2 words; paladin bomb.
Torten Testa for free, other hookers got money for doing it, think about it
awww feelsbadman
I was the one powning the noons. Taking out crossroads was fun. Hey they did it to me so I did it back
@@michaelsmith6731 fondly reminds me of that one ally warrior that charged me right into crossroads were a pvp guild was getting ready for warsong
these videos have really nice commentaries. your voice is even and not too loud or annoying like so many other youtubers.
I mean, it did make the funeral very memorable. I meet people who still talk about it to this day.
Katero man that video is what got me into wow and there was another raid video of astranaar aswell.
Katero lol
Outside their server, they're legends, when I think about the good old wow days, I think about serenity now, grimm and unbreakable. The montage vids will never be the same
I don't even play WoW and I find these famous player videos interesting.
Gotta love the 8-bit scat man song at the end. Pro choice.
For better...And...Definitely for worse here
A funeral you say?? Quickly, queue the scatman remix!
I remember watching the funeral raid when I was like 10? So many firsts for me. First wow experience, first scatman experience, first notion of trolling as I watched my mates dad cackle hysterically at it. Good memories.
4 strength 4 stam leather belt ventrillo harassment! I remember watching it back in the day and thought it was the greatest!
"she loved fishing...and pvp" (what the Serenity Now guy says before ganking the dead player's character) may be the greatest line ever uttered in any mmo ever
Dude, just thanks for the compilation! Made me laugh hard reminiscing!
Double agent must be so pissed that 60 of his levels just got squished...
took him 21 days into SL to level from the squished lvl 50 to the new cap of 60.
the inside joke is his "the chosen" title.
Did you ever hear of the Mithril King? I heard he played on some realm in vanilla and knew some secret routes for optimal mithril mining. Legend says he always bought out all mithril on the AH and held a monopoly on mithril on the realm.
his ragebar was full both in life and in game.. priceless. Put a smile on me xD
Being perma locked is the opposite of interesting when it's happening to you. This was one of a few things that were legitimately broken in vanilla. Diminishing returns helped a lot though.
Glad to see DRs.. but using this to justify homogenizing the classes as Blizz did.. was very bad for the game
Why did they have the memorial in contested territory? Even on a PVP server they could have just had it in a starting zone or something..
Franklin Baldwin yea for real they were asking to be ganked lol
It might've been to honor their friend in some way, since they were all so big into pvp. It was probably also to show respect to the other side's players as well.
It was her favorite zone. She spent a lot of time there with guildies.

I really loved this video. From funny to sad recounts of history, you tell them best
PvP server? Check. Contested zone? Check. Publically advertised? Check.
Absolute geniuses..
They probably did it on purpose. I mean. WinterSpring is literally an open world battleground. Fishing in WinterSpring?.... I bet you, the guild was PvP based. The player probably loved PvP, and the leader of the guild probably knew said person, as well. It's too much of a setup.
wouldn't have been more badass to honor her memory by getting the most elite members to form a party and shed blood on all azeroth's most wpvp areas for a whole night ?
I think it was her favorite zone. It was kinda weird to host it there but I think they thought people would have some amount of empathy/human decency. Fuck the internet where this shit is defended by people.
My casual ass never knew doubleagent was a famous player. I actually remember seeing him as I was playing a long time ago and thinking, ‘how did this guy manage to do it?’ Guess I found out.
ESO had a funeral in a pvp zone a few years back. people from all alliances showed up and it was really touching.
holy shit that number 1 spot is actually amazing
If I died and my guild had an in game funeral for me, I would want it to get raided.
Arsynic Viking Funeral
+GravityZero You don't know shit about vikngs, do you?
Well vikngs no, Vikings yes.
Then you would know that that's not thow thier funerals looked. At all. Wouldnt suprise me if you're one of the people who think they had horns in their helmets..
TheBonuzen how do you know they didnt have horns in their helmet?
He’s in p3
That serenity now video was my first interaction with wow and ultimately got me playing the game.
Ninja looting? THAT'S A 50DKP MINUS
At least you mentioned Kungen who should have been in part 1
Yup. was waiting for the funeral crash. Wedding crashes were also a meme. Great vids man! Onto the next one!
How is reckful not on these lists? He was a legend in the PVP community.
So kungen and his posse used regular items in a Boss fight and got banned. That makes sense
they were known to glitch and exploit alot of bosses and they never got banned. they pushed their luck and finally got caught. and ignore what cow says here. it wasnt a common dps rotation having the bombs in their inventory. ensidia found out the bombs were glitched on the test server and had all their guys power level engineering to exploit it to get world first.
I didn’t know the funeral crashes filmed that. They were PROUD of that
