  • Affordable 4x4 camper. Sorry about the bad footage but trying to film with one hand and operate with the other doesn't work well :-)
    What do you think and how much will you think it is worth?
    It has 400 watt solar panels and 200 amp lithium ion battery full setup (worth $5000 from enerdrive) and electric water for the shower.
    Hopefully it inspire someone. Have fun on the road, respect each other and the land :-)

    Looks like also a great concept for smaller cargo box truck/van units. Would greatly reduce wind drag while running empty. Now how to make it structurally strong enough to run at highway speeds and be extremely durable.

    Hello, great technically high-quality conversion with the lifting roof. In addition to the technical complexity, my concerns would also be the sensitive guide rails - if sand gets in there ... and the weight of the cabin is likely to be a lot higher than, for example, a folding roof.
    But well done in any case :-)

    Very nicely design and built. I am in the process of designing / building a lift system for my 8' tundra. Thinking of having the outer shell to be built upto the height of the cabin and then using those actuators to lift up the additional 2 ft. giving me 6' of clearance - thanks for the insight and video... Do you have any random pictures or video of the build

    Great Camper, I have a light 1988 Toyota Dyna Cargo truck that has a factory made hydraulic fiberglass Canopy that does the same thing as yours it raises from 1.3 -1.9 meters high and is W1.50 x L3m this we also use as a camper it's not as flash as yours as it still has the roller door at the back, this we roll up and have a canvas piece that is attached on the back and the roller door still comes down for extra security . Would like to know the measurements of your camper I will do a video one day once I work out how it's done. Cheers

    Hello Stephane, I am in the process of building very similar to yours to slide onto a Landcruiser. I am very interested in your lifting method and where you purchased the hardware. Also the obviously proven powerlifting method. I imagine it is a winch with 4 cables which would have caused difficulty in getting them timed to function evenly. How can I contact you to share knowledge. Ian

      Hi, I use good heavy duty quality draw runners and good quality actuator Linak LA 33 custom made to length from Denmark (don't get the cheap Chinese one) here is a link : www.linak.com.au/products/linear-actuators/la33/
      I thought of the pulley system like on the Jayco pop top caravan but I decided the actuator would be better for me.

      @@stephane918 Thanks for passing on the lift information. I've been considering doing a pop=up but on a trailer. My experience with a cable lift system has not been good. Not horrible, but not good either. I'm amazed they work at all. I'm currently turning an old Starcraft tent camper into a hard-sided rig and will build a portable separate lift system and keep it with me in case of failure of the existing lift system. Nice job on the pop-up.

    Hi, it looks like there is a bit of a gap between the top of the base and the bottom of the lifting section. Where you have brushes. Is there another way to finish that so you have an airtight seal? I'm imagining high wind and sand etc could get in there. Do you have any other videos which you have not uploaded yet. or a facebook profile so that we can chat to you? You can find us at Donegal Overlanding on facebook. We are building a project and its pretty much the exact same principle as this design. We have been thinking how we can have it perfectly sealed as it will be used around the world in extreme conditions.

    • @ravenfeather7087
      @ravenfeather7087 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not a builder but have thought about this issue a little. I'm not aware of what it commonly used but I think building lips at the top outside of the inner lower wall and bottom inside of the outer/upper wall in a such a fashion that they would contact each other when the roof is raised might work. With appropriate weather seals.
