  • Today we are adding top-view cameras on our BMW 435 2014 F32. We are waiting on the wires to finish the install and retrofit of the bumper cameras and sensors for parking assist as well. So for this retrofit you will need a few parts that are really hard to come by, however nothing is impossible and it might take a little longer than expected. Part numbers are listed on the video.
    Also Check ‪@KiesMotorsports‬ video to remove the glass before removing the mirror from the car... he has proper tools... and not a hard drive like we do ( • BMW F30 Side View Mirr... ) also we placed the link on a card.
    0:00 Intro.
    1:33 Parts needed.
    4:15 Glass removal.
    5:49 Door mirror shell tear-down.
    8:00 Wiring is out.
    8:50 Mirror Re-assembly begins.

    Incredible job! Somehow I missed this video when I installed blind spot monitors and cameras…

      I got F30 mirrors for my F34, turned out the mirror bases are very different so I had to take them apart and swap the internals

    Yeah, indeed a great job. This is the best and the only video that describes the installation of the top view camera and the blind spot feature in detail. I've been trying to retrofit surround view to my F10. But the parts needed are so expensive. I've been trying to collect different parts from different sellers on ebay. I've found the module for 45$, the a pair of mirror lower hosing for camera for 16$, the operation unit with the camera button for 40$(not exactly for the 5 series though, it's for 7 series and the outer frame is gloss in contrary to the f10 one which is matte), top view cameras each for around 70$. But the side view cameras are more expensive the the top ones, around 110$ each. What frustrates me is the price for the wiring. Man, they are expensive. Like aroud 300$. So this all makes me think twice before I procceed. Btw, the lower mirror housing I found is not the shadow line glossy version, it's matte, which is different from what I have.

    Regarding the brown plastic part at 2:03 and the rubber grommet, are those necessary for this retrofit? If so, what mirror did you get it from? Did it also contain surround view?

      Yeah they are pretty necessary, for one, the brown plug will house the cable for the camera, and the rubber grommet will keep water out. You can reuse the one on your current mirror. I did get those parts from a broken mirror that had no base from a junkyard; well… they did had a base, it was just broken off from the mirror, but yes they did have surround view

      @@DorksandBolts I have been doing some research on this retrofit and I see that some people get a FAKRA cable for each mirror. Is the brown plug the OEM solution for this retrofit while the FAKRA cable is an alternative approach?

      @DorksandBolts  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JPDenali I am not familiar with that solution, but I doubt that it is OEM, I only do my retrofits using the official BMW parts with a few exceptions when I have to temporarily improvise. (video coming to show that)

      @@DorksandBolts Got it. Do you know if it is possible to get that brown part somewhere or do I need to look for mirrors that already have surround view?

      @JPDenali I don’t know if you can get it separately, but if I remember correctly and if you are able to use a dremel tool, you can reuse the casing on your original mirror.

      I believe you can, haven’t tried it. However the movement resistance is different on each side, and might be an issue
