Good video enjoyed it. I have a scan z-cat I bought in 2004. Yea I have had to do some repairs but it’s mowing just like it did the day I bought it. That’s 18 years on a mower that still runs great. I use it to pull stuff around my place as well. Great mower.
6:50….”might need somebody to pray for you and get it healed.” Bro, I’d buy a mower from you just b/c you went there so boldly!! 👍👍👍👍 Barry Bond Lawton, OK
Haha yes!! We have so many documented healings now. We are even keeping a journal now of healings salvations and deliverances that take place so someone can go back years later and read about all the things God did at the lawn mower shop 😂 We have 3 giant testimonies and many many more that’s hard for people to believe. But 3 for sure undeniable crazy miracles
Outstanding. Like how you really explained what you need for what you are mowing. My dealer needs to pay you commission on the sale for explaining all of this. Thank you.
Really like what you did here. Seeing you actually in front of the camera pointing things out gives us a better idea of what you're referencing to. Thank you!
I forgot a few things. Like doing the deck lift on the bad boy it’s my favorite, and a few other things I wished I would have talked about. Im usually holding notes
Hey brother I recommend financing one. My first mower was almost $400 a month, but my first job was a cemetary right up the street from my house at $750 a cut. The monthly payment was more than taken care day 2 of owning my mower. If your credit sucks find an aunt uncle, cousin, neighbor, somebody that will back you and put your name on the note and that will get you jump started
That’s my favorite engine in that mower. Does it blow dirt up on you from the front really bad? There is a fix for it the hoover baffles it’s night and day the difference for $200 or so dollars
Just bought a Liberty Z based off this video. Happy with the purchase, Very nice cut and compact design, solid build. I had to purchase the Hoover baffles though, you'll get quite dusty without them.
Hi Kevin, I enjoy your videos. My wife and I recently purchased a 5 acre beautiful piece of property with a beautiful little home. I have progressive m.s. I can still do things but I get a little worse each week. My question is I have to purchase a commercial mower . I only can spend 12,000 . I was looking at the tiger cat 2. My property is almost flat and it was well maintained by the previous owner. I need her to have a nice mower after I'm gone. I'm 62, but life expectancy is a lil less with this. I don't have a bad boy dealer to close but I do have alot of scag, ex mark, Kubota dealers. I can't afford the cheetah, so I was wondering if the tiger cat would last. Any advice is much appreciated. This will be my last big purchase, so I want it to be a good one. Thank you, sincerely Billy from ohio. 🙏 God is good.
@@WilliamSnyder-f9x to make you feel better… if I had a mowing crew still, the tiger cat would be the mower I would my hands on. They are pretty stout holding up to heavy abuse and commercial use. We have several companies in town that took my advice like Paris lawncare and the beat on the Tiger Cat daily. I will be honest, I would never put an older lady on this. Have her do the brake a few times to start it. Have her lift the deck up and down. She is gonna struggle and so are you. It drives like an army tank and has stiffer drives, so it would never be a recommendation for a lady.
@@WilliamSnyder-f9x Kubota would be in the same category. Exmark I don’t know a lot about. My number 1 recommendation out of all the brands would be a front mount grasshopper. I would make sure she had a Grammer seat, the raised up floorboard, I would make sure she had the power fold deck button option up buy her seat, trim master roller. Now the 12k budget is gonna be rough new. A 623k would run you around $14k but only come in a 52” deck. To get a 61” you would jump up to a 729b and get in the 16 to 17k range. Either go this, or used front mount grasshopper. Instead of buying an f250 diesel pick up truck, I would rather my wife have a Lincoln town car, or a Cadillac Escalade something very user friendly and comfortable. Even the cheetah would be a stretch for her. They are designed 100% for hard core commercial guys. I would look at Ferris or stihl for the suspension for her, maybe a Toro myride, hustler xride is amazing for her. The bad boy rogue would be my second choice, I would put the assist bar on it, have the dealer adjust the foot pedal for her the way she likes, I would add the electronic deck lift push button system around $500 to it and that would put you around 13k or so depending on which engine you go with. The 37hp vanguard efi is my favorite on that mower. It sucks you only have those options for mowers close to you. If you guys have a hand taking care of the yard, the tiger cat hands down. You’ll see what I mean when you take her to operate it. The brake system and deck lift is hard for lady’s to do unless she works out her legs. She can’t start it at all without engaging and disengaging the brake. The hustler xone for 12k would be a much better choice for her simply because of the brake system, but I would recommend dropping over $15k and hooking her up with the xride :). One day my exwife called me and said David’s on his last breath at the hospital and asked her to come by he had something to tell her before he died. I had just seen him a few weeks before. The military hospital found some cancer in his body on a check, he was a Vietnam vet hardcore man very tough skinned. They told him to get his stuff in order because he only had a couple of weeks to live because the cancer had spread. Went home, collapsed, was taken to hospital. just joined your channel, i watched a lot of youtube videos and ive learned more out of this video and others you have done thank you, these 4 you have out showing is one out of 4 iam looking to get here soon, i do like the price and i do love the hustler my top pic and next the bad boy.
Back in Florida I was going to buy a Scag, but mechanic talked me into buying a Gravely. It's been a good mower, my neighbor had the top of the line John Deere and it spent more time at the dealer. Other neighbor had a Bad Boy which he never serviced it that I know of.
I run my Bad boy like a maniac for over 3 years on 5 acres and it's never been serviced. It still runs and cuts like new. I cleared a lot of 1 1/2" sapplings with it too just to reclaim about an acre.
Thanks. I just can't find a mower I guess. Once a week 4 hours, 5 acres. I'll just keep hitting it with the old cubby cadet rzt 50. 704 hours on it. This mower buying is just way to confusing for commercial types. I thought the tigercat was decent but I'm not the expert. Thanks again Kevin. I'll hire someone.
@@kgmowers I don't want to say so I can just see what you're thoughts are, ha. But, it's in the next bunch. Light commercial....I only mow my yard which is about 5 acres.
I gotta say I like to seat and how low it sits on the freedom. I use to have a first series raptor and liked it. Really like howmlow it set as well and the brakes and I agree the steering on it was great. My question for you and all the lawn care that uses the new hustlers, what's your opinion on the tires they put on there?
Come on brotha!!! We will take care of you. Call first to make sure we have something you want. This year is gonna be a little tougher than last year it looks like
26 is average for our area in ne Texas. Some people are up to 40, some only mow around 20. Here in Texas most people do every 2 weeks. With a few months having to do once a week unless their yard is irrigated.
Great content Kevin. I appreciate the good and bad that you cover for each. I have 3.5 acres flat property. I'm new to the property and new to ZTR. I've been borrowing a Hustler Sport for the first couple mows and it's time to get my own. I usually split mowing across two days doing half each day. I don't mind spending more to get long-lasting, but I'm not sure about something. Does the need to upgrade transmissions have to do with how long it will be continuously ran and not necessarily the number of acres?
It’s the life span. Yes the longer they run the hotter they get and the faster they get worn out. I recommend a minimum of 3200s for 3.5 acres they are rated for up to 4 acres 26 times a year average and last 12 to 15 years average before major failures
Get the Patriot 61 inch if you have 3-5 acres. The bigger 3400 hydros are a better investment in my opinion. I bought the Patriot 61 inch for my 3 acres and absolutely love it. 1.2 hrs to mow and about 45 trees to go around.
I appreciate your videos and trust your knowledge. I have 5 open acres with part of it being steep, what would you recommend? I also like to striped the yard too.
@@kgmowers yeah I 100% agree, I just wanted to reach out and ask what you would recommend for what I have. I knew it wouldn’t be in this video I’m leaning toward hustler or a bad boy
@@kgmowers Ouch, ten four! I’m a 1000 miles from ya and the wife found your channel. We need a mower but that’s a little out of our delivery price range lol Love the info btw👍🏻
If you go with the hustler raptor xdx it has the Fastrak deck on it. It’s by far the best cut of all my residential mowers. The 44” gravely was the best cut that I had when I had gravely in the $5k range. Then if you can swing it the little 125v grasshoppers are considered commercial, but that deck is the best performing around our area.
Looking at scag and Badboy Really unsure what to do Looking at Badboy maverick HD mainly but open to skag What do you think is the better machine Looking at 48” possibly 54”
If you go tiger cat it would be hard for me not to step up. If your looking at the patriot it’s gonna be a really hard choice. Love the suspension and the efi Honda, deck is much stouter, and the frame of course on the bad boy. The patriot would be in the shop less, but the deck is a 10 Guage and very light personally for me on a 9k mower. The patriot will give you a lot of blowout on the deck, so I highly recommend buying the Hoover baffles for it. I did a video comparing the maverick and the patriot should help you alot. Scag has been very very reliable we have very little repairs compare to the other mowers so far.. they all have negatives and positives.
Ezt is a sealed transmission. I will explain like this. Someone I know bought a new dodge pickup very close to me. 6 years later the truck broke down. Wrecker picked it up, and the local shop called him right off the bat and asked him “when is the last time you changed the oil”. He said what do you mean change the oil? No one told me I needed to do that. 🙈. So the oil lasted around 6 years before it started breaking down and failed to lubricate the engine. No fast forward to your question. A sealed transmission is full of 20x50 oil you can’t change. We start seeing issues around 6 to 8 years and have to replace them. A serviceable transmission will last longer because you can simply change the oil in them. If you can swing it it will be waaaay better to buy a serviceable over a sealed. Then each class of transmission up 2100 to 2800 to 3100 to 3200 to 3400 4400s and 5400s. each number up will dramatically run for longer periods of time and hold up to extended periods of use :).
@@ericdolby1622 filters. Sometimes they are hidden, but youll see the covers. It will say hydro gear numbers on a sticker when you look under the back. Anything less than 2800s are sealed.
Honestly anything will work. Start at the bottom like the raptor x hustler or bad boy Mz. Then just decide how much you want to spend. If you can swing $1000 get serviceable transmissions on the next level mower. Raptor xd, avenger, or the Liberty Scag.
Yes the 3200 is in the ft and the 3400 in the sdx. The 3400 is much better, but the 3200 is worlds better than the 3100. Be careful just up into a few years ago the Fastrak had 3100s.
I agree fully that’s why I’m a dealer now. I felt like no one cared about me or my business mowing yards. They all charged way to much and took waaay to long to fix my equipment. I figured if I had my own dealership I could fix my own mowers. Fun fact I mowed yards for 4 years after I started being a mower dealer :). When I became the largest volume dealer for bad boy mowers in the world I didn’t have to mow yards anymore 😂
Please do not go by my opinion to influence your choice. I have personal preferences you may not have. I would personally lean hustler. The deck is amazing, I love the brake built into the handles, driving it seems a little smoother and then the tires. I would personally have to upgrade any of the other tires for around $300 and the hustler has already did that for me. After driving all 4 it just feels better to me. It’s like buying a 7 to 8k Fastrak, but for a savings.
Just bought my first Scag yesterday and really love the cut and ride only complaint is it throws dirt and grass over the front onto your legs and feet. Would the deck baffle you mentioned solve this problem???
I'm late to this video and you or anyone may night respond, but am I crazy. I am on the scag website and they don't sale a kawasaki motor for the liberty z in a 61 deck and the freedom z is a 2800 series not a 3100 series as you say in the video.. and I just reading it wrong or did scag change this?
The smallest deck is always a better cut. Scag velocity plus is the best performing deck in the industry hands down, but they start around 9k 🙈. Out of this video I would have to say the sdx hustler (with Fastrak deck) has a little edge on the best cut. Honestly though they all do really well. Really depends on the grass. In rough or wet grass bad boy has an advantage with the deeper style deck.
The maverick is more like the patriot Scag so it would definately be a no brainer for me. I would consider checking out the patriot though I like a lot of features on it as well, but it’s in the 8k to 9k range now.
He rips on the elite trans but yet I know a mechanic that works on all types of mowers and they sell bad boy and other brands. Yet he said he knows quite a few guys that run the bad boy elite as commercial mowers and beat the hell out of them and harldy any come back. He has not had any come back with so called trans problems. They have separate oil and pumps .. just keep them clean and change oil.. simple. Bad boy have better trans than anyone. There are other videos of a guy showing the difference and bad boy beats others even Parker..
They have the best wiring in the industry. Their wiring is more like automotive wiring than my other mowers. Its easy to have a ground issue here and there, or a wiring short on any mower out there it’s not just a Scag thing
Hey Kevin, great video! I am a missionary living in Togo 🇹🇬 for 10+ years. I am a soccer coach as well. I am looking for a mower like these for cutting our soccer field year round. We are in a sub tropical climate with only about two or three months that we don’t cut grass. I currently push mow the field once a week but I go through push mowers pretty often. I would cut the field approximately 1.5 acres total twice a week if we had a riding mower. Do you think one of these would be sufficient? Note: grass is not all nice Bermuda we have some pretty tough grass in the field too. Thanks in advance! Andy
Yes any of these would be great! I would recommend looking at the Scag a hair heavier you are so far from a dealer the chance for a breakdown is the least out of all homeowner mowers from Our experience. We do have a bad boy mower in Tanzania africa though, and I think all it’s needed is blades so far
Definitely the Scag. My friend bought a Badboy Elite 54" in 2016 to replace a cheap JD 110 lawn tractor. He was miserable the whole time he had the BB. The JD cut WAY better than the BB. He got NO customer service. The cut was HORRIBLE but the worst part, the very worst part was the deck would plug up after EVERY CUT and need to be cleaned out. Finally he bought an Ariens Apex last year and he's been happy ever since. Fantastic cut, blows grass like you wouldn't believe and the best part the deck stays clean as a whistle. Anything but BB. They are VERY HEAVY mowers too. My friend had a lake house and the guy that maintained it and cut the grass has a BB. The guy said it was great. My friend asked if he has to clean the deck every time and he said 'ya, I do , but he just didn't care cause it was a cheap mower. STEER CLEAR OF BAD BOY!
One other thing I forgot to add. Check around and see what equipment professional landscapers are using. I have never ever seen pros using Badboy. Ever. There may be some that are but I haven't seen them. I've seen Scag, Ferris, Hustler, Exmark, Toro, JD, Gravely. Never Badboy.
@@zachdowling0520 There's something about the Badboy deck that is just a lousy design. It just doesn't generate suction. The Ariens was re-designed in I think 2019 and it has THE or one of the deepest skirted decks in the industry. It's 5.5 inches deep. My friend was cutting around his deck posts and he said from a couple feet away the suction from the deck was pulling the grass blades towards the mower from that far away. He cursed that Bad Boy almost right after he got it. He was really dejected after he paid $5500 for it (in 2016) and his wife said "I think the lawn looked better with the old mower." (A cheap John Deere 110). He did everything he could for that BB. Gator blades, Mulch kit, chute blocker. Nothing worked. Been really happy with the Ariens. Got it at Lowes last year with veteran discount. Plus it's lighter than the BB, less load on the transaxles. (ZT3100) I think it was over 100lb lighter. Also the Husqvarna MZ series is a nice Prosumer/Semi-commercial mower.
Hey I just looked. It is a huge difference in the deck and spindles. On all these mowers in the video they compare more to the green deck Deere mowers.
No Definately need to step up to the 3200 transmissions or bigger. Also you really need a Donaldson style air filter on the engine for that much mowing. We have people that do it, but for maximum use of the lifespan you really are stretching a 3100 transmission for over 3 acres For $1000 in most cases you can get a 4 times longer lasting motor and transmission
@@RobShutt357 yes 6500 to 8000 depending on brand. All the brands are gonna be mid 5s for 3100s now. Zt was 4999 last year and $5999 for the maverick so nearly everyone got the maverick if that makes sense. This year it’s more like $5500 and $6500.
I have a friend that ministers a lot in Ohio. Maybe I could see if he would take a trailer up with him and bring you a mower. Also his fiancé lives up there
We had smaller mower and it took alot of time to mower are five and half acers of land. We so get great service from our New Holland dealer where we brought it. They all service are New Holland tractor there as will.
Nearly are mowers now are 18500. Government max blade tip speed. Some of the light decks will be less that can’t handle it. If it’s rear discharge it will be much lower.
A more expensive starter part does NOT make a better engine! Not a good argument to use to sell. I do prefer Kawasaki, simply from advice of techs who see all these V-twins daily. But not because of expensive parts! A Kawadaki can be retrofitted with a commercial snorkel filter that far surpasses the built in Kohler. It's only $$$$!
Just my 2 cents as the owner of one of the largest volume dealerships in the world. Sometimes opinions vary…. But that’s what I see. Less starter issues, regulators and coil packs. In my opinion that is the difference. I actually prefer the briggs personally as they are a little easier for me to deal with if I have a complicated warranty claim.
Rz-hd is also $7149 this year. They go along with grasshopper 125 (same trans) bad boy maverick, hustler Fastrak, and the Scag patriot video. Back when I was a dealer the rz-hd was $4999 so it was in line with the ones in this video. Now it’s just an rz I guess they did the tuff torque trans to keep them same line of pricing.
@@kgmowers Right. That was the point of the comment, as you stated the Spartan RZ HD was in the same lineup as those mowers with 3100's for under $6000. The RZ HD is neither under $6k nor does it have lower quality 3100 transmission.
You cant compare a Kawasaki to a Kohler. Kohler is junk, take it from a mower fleet mechanic, Kohler are boat anchors. Dont by a Bad Boy. Buy a name brand established mower brand you can get parts for quickly. I have seen it all trust me. You cant fix it without parts. Why buy a mower and then find out your dealer stopped selling that brand. Grasshopper, Exmark, Gravely, John Deere, Farris are established brands that have been around for years. The Name brand alone can support itself. Dont buy from some Box store or drug store when buying a mower.
Bad boy sold 66k in mowers last year. They are a force to be reckoned with. Even caused other brands to change how they do business, and some even made new brands and images to try to compete. It’s obvious being in the mower world for 16 years what bad boy and Spartan have brought to the table. A 47% stouter deck, a 42% stouter frame, easier machine to work on, a literal lifetime warranty on deck and frame, that I have had many customers over the years crack their Frame or deck and just get a new one given to them. No other brand has ever done that in my business. Kohler has a much lower 100% failure rate than kawasaki in my house due to a little better air filter system in the homeowner lineup. I’ve seen more kawa dirt ingested motor failure than I have kohler or briggs. I admit they have a nicer starter..
@@vincemajestyk9497 kohler is stout now. They are leading in the air filtration system in some of the lower end ztrs like 3k to 6k. The new briggs cxi is dominating them though then you have the kohler confidant and command that are pretty bullet proof here. Only issue with the command is some have hydraulic lifters so you here a tick a little more distinct like a Polaris. New kawasaki ft and fx is amazing too, and vanguard is claiming the title as the most reliable right now. They all are powerhouses and every brand has their lemons. Only one we really haven’t touched is the Honda on the maverick and the efi on the hd. Even the yamaha has turned out good. The Chinese engines on the toro, Exmark, Scag are doing amazing actually. With Scag it costs more to get that engine over kawasaki kohler and briggs, but that’s turning out to be asked for more than the name brands because the mower manufacturer stands behind them and warranties them through their plant. First time that’s ever happened
@@kgmowers Well, time will tell the tale on the Chinese engines. They haven't been 'in the market' that long to get a heavy sample. I don't know why anyone would pay a premium for a Chinese engine vs a time tested American brand (or American made). Theres only one reason the maker's would use a Chinese engine. Money. They probably pay 1/4-1/2 that of a Briggs or Kawa. Usually if the engine fails in the warranty period it gets kicked back to the maker of that sub assembly. If they sub out the engine to a Chinese maker and put the lawn mower maker's name on it they own when it breaks, so yes, they need to stand behind it. It's technically their product. But if you play the numbers game and look at it like this, they buy these cheap engines at 25% the cost of Briggs or Kawa and say they have a 30% failure rate (or whatever), and they 'self insure' or absorb the loss, they're still way ahead. They wouldn't do it if it wasn't making them money even in the worst case scenario. The only losers are the American suppliers Briggs, Kawasaki and Kohler that can't compete and lose market share and may 'go away'. Then guess what. A cheap Chinese engine doubles or triples in price. As far as people ASKING for them specifically. That doesn't surprise me. A lot of consumers aren't all that sophisticated.
@@vincemajestyk9497 Loncin has been in business for a very long time and build a ton of bmws engines along with tons of brands all over the world. They are a power house.
Why the heck can't you get a 61in on the freedom but you can on the liberty? That makes no sense. Lol isn't the freedom suppose to be like entry commercial grade?
@@wesleywilliams1186 no it’s definately not commercial. It is more commercial style.. the patriot is their entry level commercial, then tiger cat and up is 100% all full blown commercial with velocity plus decks
@@kgmowers My 1999 Grasshopper mower just went, it has 2800 hours and the dreaded Eaton Gemini Drives and I only changed the fluid two times in 25 years.
@@toddac61 you may check with the grasshopper dealer in Arkansas the old one he may have old parts there and may can rebuilt it. I think he is in Fayetteville or Benton up there. I can’t think of his name
Bad Boy is a weird company with a strange product. Their mowers are way heavier than they need to be and they don't even cut grass that great which is the primary job of a mower. Really bizarre dealership model too. I hear and see lots of complaints with BadBoy. For years they were dumping these cheap mowers at TSC. Funny thing is, I NEVER see anyone using them around me. In the last ten years driving around I've seen maybe 2 or 3 people actually using Bad Boys to cut their lawn. Where I live, in my community, there's a lot of rich old people that moved in and built houses up the street on half acre lots. They have 1 of 2 kinds of mowers, Box Store bought if I had to guess. Cub Cadet lawn tractors or those cheap John Deere lawn tractors. One actually bought a Hustler with a ROPS bar for a half acre lot. Me, I've got an acre and a quarter and have a prosumer Husky MZ61 with 3100's and a Briggs 27HP Endurance engine. I upgraded the filtration myself and it came with an oil cooler, HD alternator, HD valves. It was speced like the commercial engine without the Donaldson filtration. Anyway, if you look at the commecial features of the mower and the engine the single biggest upgrade all the commercial engines have is air filtration. ZT's are exposed to more dust than a lawn tractor because of where the engine sits. Right where it gets exposed to all the dirt. Each of the 3 main engine manufacturers offer upgraded air filtration which you can add to the engine. (Briggs, Kawa, and Kohler). I would much rather buy a Kawasaki engine and upgrade the filtration than buy a machine with a Kohler and a canister filter. Most all of them you can buy the parts or salvage them from another mower to add a Donaldson type filter. People may say otherwise, but I wouldn't even touch a mower with a Kohler. They're noisy and have problems. A lot of these companies like JD and Toro are using their own Chinese branded Honda clone engines now. My friends neighbor just paid over $6500 for a Toro 52" from a dealer with EZT junk 2200 transmissions and a Chinese 'Toro' engine. Could have bought a great semi-commercial or prosumer model for that kind of money. He has lots of problems with it. They had to take it in 3 times the first year for repairs.
vince majestyk we bought a Bad Boy Maverick 54' 726 Kawasaki this spring and it has been cutting a perfectly even cut all year on are 4.5 acre property. The great cut quality is what surprised us the most on the Bad Boy. My only complaint is how loud it is when running full throttle, have to wear ear protection.
@@dankruger2890 Well if you're happy with it that's all that matters. I looked around and didn't like their deck design. Too boxy, no depth, shape not conducive for good velocity. Check out the Tractor Trader or some other implement dealers and see how many used BB's they have for sale compared to the others. On another note, you may be pushing the limits of that mower. If it is 4.5ac you mow I would think at least a 60" maybe up to 72" would do you better. My yard is 1/4 the size of yours and the guy that cut mine for me professionally said 'at least 60" I wouldn't get less than that." I probably COULD have gotten by with something in the 50's, but for 4.5 ac I sure wouldn't go less than 60".
😂🙈. So most manufacturers have “big boy kits”. Wider seats, different handles. The r series bad boy is the best for bigger guys being a foot and a half longer than most mowers and wider. If you can’t spend 10k on a mower, even the cheaper bad boys have adjustable handle options. You will fine 3100 trans and up will hold up better, if you can get 3200s it will be a big difference for you. Spartan is a good mower to look at as well, as it’s the only full frame 1200lb machine in the industry offered under 6k. Bad boy runs over 8k. Hustler 12k, Scag 11k etc. Scag Liberty would feel ok I believe.
Hustler the only brand our city can use. They said they are the only ones that will hold up to their guys. They are the first ZTR ever made too so the only reason we have these other brands is because of hustler. A hyper drive super z is a tank of a mower.
Great video. When you talk about how much transmissions can cost, it makes the thought of upgrading initially a little easier.
Good video enjoyed it. I have a scan z-cat I bought in 2004. Yea I have had to do some repairs but it’s mowing just like it did the day I bought it. That’s 18 years on a mower that still runs great. I use it to pull stuff around my place as well. Great mower.
Most definitely one of the best videos out there comparing zero turn Mower..
Best info I’ve seen yet! Very clear on the transmission information/ model needed. Thanks
Scag is top dog.... made in America and made to last I've had mine 20 years now..
Just got a Liberty Z and love it. Hoping it lasts a LONG TIME.

Great job explaining lifespan of these mowers
Outstanding. Like how you really explained what you need for what you are mowing. My dealer needs to pay you commission on the sale for explaining all of this. Thank you.
One guy looking at a kubota told me I knew more about their mower than they did 🙈.
That is because you know and state facts, not marketing b.s. You analyze and point out relevant and material matters and why you think important.

If your credit sucks find an aunt uncle, cousin, neighbor, somebody that will back you and put your name on the note and that will get you jump started
great job on the video! you hit the important stuff we all needed to hear about
My 2020 Liberty-Z 61 has the 26hp Kohler motor. I like it a lot. No lack of power for my 2 acres.
That’s my favorite engine in that mower. Does it blow dirt up on you from the front really bad? There is a fix for it the hoover baffles it’s night and day the difference for $200 or so dollars
@@kgmowers where do I get these baffles. Mine does blow grass like crazy from the front.

Honestly, I never even considered the liberty or the bad boy… Until now. Good video
We just had our first warranty claim and issue on a Liberty yesterday. It was a new one we sold and the seat safety switch was messed up.
Just bought a Liberty Z based off this video. Happy with the purchase, Very nice cut and compact design, solid build. I had to purchase the Hoover baffles though, you'll get quite dusty without them.
Great show old boy thanks. ❤
Great video. Learned several things I hadn't thought of. Thanks Kevin

Thanks for sharing your knowledge on the mowers. Good comparison video

I feel more comfortable with the Maverick has a 3200 transmission better for Commercial cutting good to hear.
The Bad Boy shocks are jut a novelty.
I agree, but based on transmission.

Can the XDX handle 4 acres once a week?
Cool and groovy! U da Man, but He's the Lord!
I Love that Videos!!❤💖 & OMFG YOU ARE AN ANGEL!!😍😍😍
26 times a year? I have Bahia grass in Florida. It's every 4 days about 9 months out of the year.
How much mowing could you cover with the Scag patriot 52?
Looking to do around 3-5 acres in the summer only every other weekend.
That would take roughly 2.5 hours if you’re doing it alone.
Nothing in this video. You have to step up to the next class mower for sure with 5 acres honestly I recommend full commercial.

Kevin: which mower has the best cut and for residential use!!
@@kgmowers Thanks very much Kevin and God Bless You 🙏🏾
Looking at scag and Badboy
Really unsure what to do
Looking at Badboy maverick HD mainly but open to skag
What do you think is the better machine
Looking at 48” possibly 54”
Can you do a review of the freedom z vs the Hustler
? This should show you both mowers with positives and negatives of both.
So what is an EZT and is it good for residential?
@@kgmowers thank you for the awesome explanation. How can I tell by glancing under really quick? Drain plug?
@@ericdolby1622 filters. Sometimes they are hidden, but youll see the covers. It will say hydro gear numbers on a sticker when you look under the back. Anything less than 2800s are sealed.
@@ericdolby1622 most of the time if the mower is under 5k you’ll need to look. Over 5k in most brands should be serviceable.
Great video. What zero turn you recommend for a half-acre lot that may get cut up to twice a week in the summer.
Honestly anything will work. Start at the bottom like the raptor x hustler or bad boy Mz. Then just decide how much you want to spend. If you can swing $1000 get serviceable transmissions on the next level mower. Raptor xd, avenger, or the Liberty Scag.
@@kgmowers Thanks! do you know what the price point will be on the new Hustler Zevo? It looks like a nice battery option.
@@cm.5023 4949 for the 42”.
What about the Hustler fastrak is the transmissions any good?
Yes the 3200 is in the ft and the 3400 in the sdx. The 3400 is much better, but the 3200 is worlds better than the 3100. Be careful just up into a few years ago the Fastrak had 3100s.
Very good...
Great video
I love SCAG, but the dealer is more important than the mower
I agree fully that’s why I’m a dealer now. I felt like no one cared about me or my business mowing yards. They all charged way to much and took waaay to long to fix my equipment. I figured if I had my own dealership I could fix my own mowers. Fun fact I mowed yards for 4 years after I started being a mower dealer :). When I became the largest volume dealer for bad boy mowers in the world I didn’t have to mow yards anymore 😂
If you had to pick one mower out of this lineup which would it be? I’ve been shopping this same line up and I can’t make a decision. Thanks!
I love hustler to
May I have the phone number of the business to call you and see if you have ascag freedom Z available?

@@kgmowers appreciate the reply. That sucks but hopefully I'll find something by mowing season next year
What’s your opinion on the liberty cutting just under 3 acres on slight inclines?
The 61 would be ok, but if you could swing it would recommend a patriot
What’s the part to stop the clippings blowing all over myself on the scag?
Hoover baffle :)
Which one have the best clean cut grass ?
The smallest deck is always a better cut. Scag velocity plus is the best performing deck in the industry hands down, but they start around 9k 🙈.
Out of this video I would have to say the sdx hustler (with Fastrak deck) has a little edge on the best cut. Honestly though they all do really well. Really depends on the grass. In rough or wet grass bad boy has an advantage with the deeper style deck.
What would you recommend between a liberty Z or a bad boy maverick? Cutting about 4.5-5 acres a week
The maverick is more like the patriot Scag so it would definately be a no brainer for me. I would consider checking out the patriot though I like a lot of features on it as well, but it’s in the 8k to 9k range now.
Excellent!
Bad Boy has the best build quality
can you add a plow to the bad boy elite?
I prolly would want bigger transmissions like a rebel
He rips on the elite trans but yet I know a mechanic that works on all types of mowers and they sell bad boy and other brands. Yet he said he knows quite a few guys that run the bad boy elite as commercial mowers and beat the hell out of them and harldy any come back. He has not had any come back with so called trans problems. They have separate oil and pumps .. just keep them clean and change oil.. simple. Bad boy have better trans than anyone. There are other videos of a guy showing the difference and bad boy beats others even Parker..
Scag used to be top of the line but theyre new stuff is plagued with electrical problems.
They have the best wiring in the industry. Their wiring is more like automotive wiring than my other mowers. Its easy to have a ground issue here and there, or a wiring short on any mower out there it’s not just a Scag thing
Where can I get a Hustler XDX 60” for under 6k?
I would recommend looking at the Scag a hair heavier you are so far from a dealer the chance for a breakdown is the least out of all homeowner mowers from
Our experience. We do have a bad boy mower in Tanzania africa though, and I think all it’s needed is blades so far
I’m between the Scag liberty Z 52” and the bad boy zt elite 54”. I can get both right around the same price, any suggestions?
@@vincemajestyk9497 thanks for the reply. I was leaning more towards the Scag anyways. I hadn’t considered Ariens though I might check them out.
How do these compete with a JD Z530 R ?
I’m sorry we don’t really know anything about John Deere. They are pretty non existent here in our area.
Hey I just looked. It is a huge difference in the deck and spindles. On all these mowers in the video they compare more to the green deck Deere mowers.
@@kgmowers thanks for your info. You out some great videos and information.

Is the freedom z a 3100 or 2800? Scag website says it’s 2800.
2800 I was wrong just assuming.
Are you saying none of these should be used for 5 acres?
No Definately need to step up to the 3200 transmissions or bigger. Also you really need a Donaldson style air filter on the engine for that much mowing. We have people that do it, but for maximum use of the lifespan you really are stretching a 3100 transmission for over 3 acres
For $1000 in most cases you can get a 4 times longer lasting motor and transmission
@@kgmowers so you are saying I can get a 3200 transmission mower for $6k?
@@RobShutt357 yes 6500 to 8000 depending on brand. All the brands are gonna be mid 5s for 3100s now. Zt was 4999 last year and $5999 for the maverick so nearly everyone got the maverick if that makes sense. This year it’s more like $5500 and $6500.

Nearly are mowers now are 18500. Government max blade tip speed. Some of the light decks will be less that can’t handle it. If it’s rear discharge it will be much lower.
@@kgmowers thanks for getting back to me with that
A more expensive starter part does NOT make a better engine!
Spartan RZ HD's use Parker transmissions which is far better than the 3100's
Bad boy has been around for 20 years
Why the heck can't you get a 61in on the freedom but you can on the liberty? That makes no sense. Lol isn't the freedom suppose to be like entry commercial grade?
No the freedom is homeowner. You jump to the patriot for commercial. The 61 Liberty has the heavier 3100s..
@@kgmowers yea but liberty is the "lower model". Why would it have it and not the freedom?
@@kgmowers and you said in the video the freedom is commercial which is why it has the roll bar. Lol
@@wesleywilliams1186 no it’s definately not commercial. It is more commercial style.. the patriot is their entry level commercial, then tiger cat and up is 100% all full blown commercial with velocity plus decks
@@kgmowers I just don't understand they wouldn't offer a 61in on it
Buy whatever transmission you want. If you don't regularly service them, they will fail. End of story.
Some grasshopper have 1000 hour intervals so I’ve seen them last 20 years before someone touches them 😂
@@kgmowers Not being touched in the landscape industry? No! LOL

What is the best one for a fat ass like me that I can fit on
You really picked a bad place to do this video. Too much highway noise and hard to hear you. Missed some of the descriptions of the mowers.
Sorry I’m new to all this stuff
Hustler is the worst machines and waste of money, scag all the way
Hustler the only brand our city can use. They said they are the only ones that will hold up to their guys. They are the first ZTR ever made too so the only reason we have these other brands is because of hustler. A hyper drive super z is a tank of a mower.
What state and city you at? I'm ready to buy.

I just gotvmy elite for less than 4900....
That $250 rebate is really helping. That’s a pretty low price though for sure!
