  • When shopping for an executive sedan I understand the desire to eschew the German triumvirate for something a little different, perhaps something with its own unique Japanese flair. Well, that’s the Lexus LS; recently redesigned and still available in hybrid form.

Some of your complaints are confusing. So Lexus made this car more fun to drive while also being comfy And this is a issue ? It’s a win win
Let’s talking about how the Lexus will outlast the BMW and Benz.

The gas savings are nullified by the premium gas requirement.

Lexus really needs to step up their game as the flagship sedan. I recently bought a fully loaded 2019 ES Ultra Lux and it is very similar in term of exterior and interior design, for about half the price. I haven't test drive the LS, but I can confirm that the ES has a very smooth and soft ride (compared to my old IS).

Amazing car. The style, comfort, and size is pure luxury.

You can say that about every automaker, not just lexus. It‘s still better than the likes of the 7 series in that regard, as that car is basically the same exact car as the 5 series, just longer

According to other reviews, this vehicle has a traditional 4 speed automatic transmission not a CVT. The transmission emulates a 10 speed, faking shifts in between, probably somehow utilizing its hybrid system.

considering the trade off of not having the top of the line features for stellar reliability I can see this being a viable option for a buyer who's planning on keeping the car for a while.

I'm with ya I certainly would leave the hybrid alone when it comes to the LS... BTW absolutely stunning shots in the snow! 👌

I really like the LS, it is a striking car, what makes it even better is you barely see them. That goes the same for the LC coupes, you never see those, I did however see one when I was in Canada last month and damn that's a good looking car.

    • @stevehammes

Very sharp. And I like the exclusivity, too.

Good review Steve. Hope Lexus acknowledges your criticisms. For most buyers at this price points, an hybrid isn't about saving money, but for making an environmental statement.

    • @stevehammes

That's true. But this doesn't even make much of that.

I think the Lexus infotainment system will change in the 2020 model year... including Android Auto and a touchscreen. It's currently in the refreshed RX. They'll integrate it in other models. And hopefully, we'll hear less Lexus complaints about their infotainment from Steve (in which I agree with).

Billy Sou I personally don’t have problem with trackpad on my LS500, would be ok if they added touch screen. The problem lies on their operating system. Seriously it’s the worst. They have to build new system software from the scratch, then they add touch screen because believe me it’s not usable and good enough as I tried the 2020 RX, it doesn’t feel smooth. Lexus announced new CEO recently, he is the one who designed the LS and LC and he is young. I hope he listens about these complaints and create newer system to keep up with the market.

@@AsAxBoSs2012 which LS did you buy? The 500 or the 500h?
I heard that the current gen Lexus LS don't do a great job ironing out road imperfections. Is that true?

    • @AsAxBoSs2012
      @AsAxBoSs2012 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Dionisius Kusuma I got the 500. Well, I don’t know about other generations of the LS. But from someone who upgraded from GS300 and ISF. The LS500 definitely stands out with comfort and luxury. It’s been a year since I bought it, haven’t had any regrets. Maybe the only downside with this car is the infotainment system which I didn’t expect it to be this bad after in such expensive car, but I don’t care about such thing, because i knew when I bought it, it’s for the looks, interior design and the amazing quality of the leather and aluminum. In terms of power, the V6TT is so powerful, Lexus did great job with this engine, it can give the car the power it needs. The fuel consumption is not that impressive, but it didn’t matter to me. Overall, if you are buying this car, look for sales, i have seen many great deals on it which can save you a lot. Also I would say have a look on the new ES, it might be the better option for you as both the cars have similar design and technology.

If they bring back the quietness, stop allowing engine noise, stop allowing road noise, get rid of the distracting computer interface and bring back buttons, and give it low effort one pinky finger steering at parking lot speeds, then I'll think abt buying one.

RX for 2020 allows for touchscreen now. Will likely spread to the rest of the lineup as they go through their own tech updates.
