    Benz will be ten steps behind the LS in reliability factor and resale value. This is something almost every journalist misses.

      A F A Yup. Ask me which one I would rather have ten years from now. Hint, it’s not the Mercedes.

      The people buying this car and it's competitors don't care about resale values nor do they want to keep the same car for more than 4 years.

    • @afa6361
      @afa6361 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's horseshit. I have kept my LS430 for ten years now, and know many in the Lexus community to do the same. Unless you have a sugar daddy or are into drugs, resale value is important to preserve the hard earn money.

      @A F A it's not just that even, he says it's not as smooth or a step behind the s class but clearly didn't mention things and features available in this car that no s class offers. These journalists say these things so as to stay in the good books of Mercedes. Heard Mercedes won't give them access to cars if they criticize or say something else is better. These are the kind of journalists that will still compare an S class to a Rolls Royce Ghost as well. I don't even need to point out how absurd that is. The interior of this Ls is so much better in design and quality when compared to the S class. They won't tell you how weak the massaging feature is on the s class compared to this LS. It's a good thing there are some credible journalists that have pointed this out already. Then he won't talk about all the luxury features made to make life easier getting into and getting out of an LS simply not available on any S class. For example the 28 way driver and passenger adjustable seats, the s class doesn't even match the 7 series which is at 22 way adjustable for the front seats. Then there's the 48 degree reclining rear seat that is class leading, if this feature was on the s class they will all blow it up. Then there's the auto adjustable seat to the normal position once the door is opened in the rear. The seats automatically move back to position even if reclined once the door is opened. This makes getting back into the car an easy feature without having to hold down memory seat buttons till the seats adjust to preset like what's on the s class.
      There's so much more i could go with but these guys never praise the attention to details Lexus takes. The LS is the first luxury car with glass in the interior. The Rolls Royce Phantom the next beast with such materials in it. I can bet you when the next gen S class puts glass in its interior these same guys will blow it up like there's no tomorrow.

    Can Lexus make an intuitive infotainment system? They haven't done that in over 5 years.

      Billy Sou it is shocking that Lexus doesn’t seem to be listening to the universal criticism. Hopefully it will be corrected when it gets a mid-cycle refresh

    Excellent review. You TOLD THE TRUTH!!!! The new Lexus looks great but it seriously needs the improvements u mentioned.

    Mercedes Benz and its fellow German brands has always been the forefront of automotive technology and supreme comfort. Lexus always comes in number two in these two factors. The reason? They have the power to command pricing. Sell a 150k German vehicle and you will have a legion of potential takers. A Lexus, on the other hand, steers on a slightly different path. Offering a more affordable high end vehicle to clients who are on a "budget". With an LS that stays close behind its German friends, Lexus offers a better resale value to its owners.

    Why have once tech leading Japanese car makers fallen so far behind? I want to buy Lexus instead of the euro rivals but it’s difficult to rationalise that choice these days.

      Reliability, resale value and the fact you’re not driving another Bimmer or Merc like everyone else. Enough said

    • @gdwfs
      @gdwfs 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mr. Hand I agree. But who buys luxury sedans these days when you can lease? So resale value - and even reliability - aren’t as important as they were 20 years ago. Especially when the Germans have modern infotainment, better ride, quieter, etc.

    • @juststuff5216
      @juststuff5216 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And then you'd have to deal with the looks ... and let's be honest, Lexus design isn't the strongest attribute!

    • @juststuff5216
      @juststuff5216 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on where you live. I know in the U.S. Lexus is a hip brand. In the UK Lexus is the 'Saab' of the executive brands. When it comes to 4x4's/SUV's Landy, BMW, do far more sales than Lexus could ever dream of. I love Toyota reliability, but Lexus design really has gone from bad to worse. I loved the 1st and 2nd gen LS for example, but now Lexus design as a whole is simply gopping!!

    As for the car, even if I had this money to spend, I can’t see choosing this one unless I fell in love upon seeing or driving it in the flesh.

    That's $115k? Sigh....for that bread, one could've had a BMW M5 or MB E63 instead. Lexus really needs to come up with a better infotainment package soon.

    That glass trim is awesome, it's great to see Lexus doing something different!! That infotainment is kinda woeful though... umm, not so great to see Lexus doing something different LOL

    Wow! Hootie and the Blowfish @6:03🤤. Talk about a blast from the past.
    I understand that music from satellite radio is heavily compressed. So the sound quality is lacking. So I'm wondering if a high quality sound system like in the LS could really magnify the sat radio's short comings. And I'm wondering if Lexus has something that Hyundai has where it has an algorithm that "fills in" some of the lost parts in heavily compressed digital music files.

      Cr was spot on. Yes they are idiots because they say Lexus IS boring one minute for being smooth and quiet, then complain when it’s not smooth and quiet. They can’t make up their mind. That said, their complaints about the LS were spot on and I agree with them.

    The exterior is gorgeous, distinctive, balanced and full of swagger. And in my opinion, the grill works better here than in their other products. As for the interior, despite its artful design, no Lexus interior feels accessible, natural, comfortable or easy to connect with at all, much less actually use. It's beautiful design that leaves me cold. Maybe they could steal a page from Mazda's "Jinba Ittai," philosophy.

  • @Kev50027

    Isn't this the Camry V6 and the ride/ interior/ infotainment is terrible. Would rather go with the twin turbo V8 in the S560 and 750i

    Audi A8 is.

    Is this the same basic engine found in the Camry V6?

    • @76carmel
      @76carmel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a twin turbo v6 with 400+ hp. The old V8 was 380+ hp.

    • @mikemorales1725
      @mikemorales1725 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as smooth as the V8, this is why the LC 500 still has the V8. Same basic engine as the V6 Camry, a car costing 1/3 the price of the LS

    • @TheStimie
      @TheStimie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong it's actually all new and it's a 3.4. Has nothing to do with previous toyota and lexus engines.
