For years we've watched you torture random opponents with crazy builds, but there's something so fresh about taking a random teammate along for the ride and seeing how they react to ridiculous cheese. It's a new angle on the basic premise that sets uThermal apart as the most fun SC2 content creator.
Reminds me of an old wc3 orc strategy nick named grunt a pult, featuring relentless pressure offensive towers and goblin zepplin jugging. while it was a particularly strong strategy stand alone, in 2v2 it could shine even harder when you got a good ally that would work with you and drop an off race shop or use their heros to snipe units from your bulwark
Banshee's are suprisingly very strong, it's just that the only thing holding them back is the Tech Lab requirement, making it really hard to mass them up at any reasonable pace in a normal game. It's kind of like WoL Reapers, they're powerful, but it's really hard to get a big ball of them going before getting rammed by like, 200 zerglings and die.
That mass speed-banshee strat in 2v2 actually looked really strong, hard to say because the guy was cannon rushing, but seems like a really strong 2v2 strat
Thank you, uThermal, for listening to the comments and continuing the 2v2 ladder with random teammates. You found a little hidden gem. Nice cooperative teammates are fun, but so are toxic ones. Almost can't lose
These 2v2 videos have been great, Marc! Getting the teammates on board with the insanity is so fun to watch, I like seeing people being open to trying something wild. Keep it coming!
@@Phagocytosis From my perspective no. I've had 1v1 players PM me just to BM or rage ingame etc. But I've had just as much if not more rude people in team games. Mathematically, you have to account for the fact that there's more people per match, so there's a higher chance of encountering an asshole or assholes in a multiplayer mode match.
I love how he's like "I want to ask him something reasonable" when I play 2v2, I tell them wild stuff like "im probe rushing, if you join me attack same guy as me, otherwise be ready to defend and keep us alive early or keep applying pressure" (of course i dont always say that, sometimes ill tell them to cheese with me, or just to probe rush with me, etc) ling flood seems nice to go along with it
I used to watch Protech playing 2v2's. Protech was the world's #1 but he was a total jerk. He hates his teammates as much as his opponents :D Mike is anti-Protech. That's why his 2v2's are so fun. By the way, set individual colors for opponents. So you can track which one is broke, which one has no army, etc. One thing I hated about Protech was that he made them all red.
The early game banter with your coop partner really makes these. People who play random coop must be super chill to go along with your crazy ideas. Wish we could see their facial reactions when it works 🤣
lovely , so cool ❤ 😊❤ - its exciting with more social component - how others react to your game style and awesome skillz - with random 2v2 ladder , nice format - love you do this from time to time - keep up , you da best sc 2 content for me , grateful greetings
I suggest putting 2v2 on the thumbnail, I would watch them instantly. I think most casual players prefer team play and it is very rare finding high level 2v2's. Also, the interaction with you team mate is super interesting. Thanks for the content Mark, youre the best no doubt.
Bangin' ... And I disagree with the nomenclature "ridiculous cheese". If it works 70-90% of time it is Effective and brilliant cheese. "If it's stupid and works perfectly...it's not stupid" =)) Your knowledge, skillz, ingenuity, & reactions make the worst plans and plays viable! tyvm for the most content put out by one creator... ever. Much respect.
It only works that often because he's playing against opponents much weaker than himself. If he played more standard builds he would win a lot more often than that (at least until he got to a much higher MMR).
@@asdfqwerty14587 Disagree with 1st part, he plays GM's a lot... and the ladder MM doesn't help level them out too much. The 2nd part I mostly agree with, but I think he would be bored and not excited with "standard" meta builds and not put the same effort / enthusiasm in... None of this matters as he is the most entertaining & insightful out there =)) Keep on keepin' on uT !!
@@Ty-bz7zx I don't see how you could possibly disagree with the first part but agree with the second. If he has that high of a win rate against someone, then by definition he is a much better player than them. Whether they're GM or not is irrelevant - they're significantly worse players than him even if they're GM players. Also, I very strongly doubt that the players that he's playing with and against in the 2v2 games so far have been anywhere close to GM level.
@@asdfqwerty14587 "Better" is relative and subjective. I was talking overall not just 2v2's(like 1.6% of his content). As for GM / MMR he plays similar and higher as much as poss. (imho). Seems like your mind is set on him Smurfing. He couldn't play all "better / higher MPR" every game if he wanted to. None of this matters as the content is BANGIN' ! =)) Enjoy and have a great day!
@@Ty-bz7zx I have no idea what you're even talking about. I never said anything about smurfing, I said that the strategies he's using are actually awful strategies, and they only work as often as they do because he's playing against opponents significantly weaker than he is.
As a mostly 2v2 player I'm loving those videos, and hope you'll end up making an entire series out of it! Regarding colors, I usually play with a different color for every player, but when there are mostly protoss I have to admit that I sometimes get confused and prefer team colors
I really like this series because it's a random team mate, it would be cool if you could get a few of them to do an audio interview afterwards to see how crazy they thought you were LOL
This is awesome. Another Video idea you queue up with a second account let it leave and you play the 2 accounts. If that's to easy just do it with 3 or 4
To answer your question, I prefer separate colors. Knowing who has what units helps me make more informed decisions - If they are same race, helps me know if they're sharing units - Sometimes attacking the weaker of two is tactically better - If there is a trashtalker, there are times it's nice to know to kill him or their opponent, depending on the game. - If they are attacking my ally, it helps to know where to attack to divert attention - More colors are fun
Hey Marc! Great battle & nice communication there! :D Next time you meet up a Chinese, say Ni hao = Hello And, Xie xie = Thank you! :) Cheers for this nice episode. BR AN.
"Only thing that died this game were workers and the units who attacked them." I would have liked to see Banshees in a fight, not just backstabbing and killing workers. But I guess that's how David Kim envisioned this game to be.
the first teammate is probably a great teammate. the intentional use of oracle prompts enemy to respond with phoenix and hydras, which is exactly what doesnt work against BC's. the follow up with more phoenix basically prevents enemy from using stalkers or void rays. the only reasonable alternative is corruptors, which would suck against a ground follow up
i love these so muchhhh. i wish i could wake up every day to 16 hours of fresh thermy 2's matches. and 20 hours for the weekends. that's all i want for Christmas plx 🙏
Regarding the colors, I think it might be best for readability if the teams were split into Cool (Blue & Cyan) and Warm (Red & Orange) colors, so it would be easier to tell apart allies and opponents while also having each player have a different color.
I had a bronze ally one time and I was Terran, and beat a double Masters team by massing mostly Banshees the entire game. It works. I don't know why more people don't do it.
