King Kong is technically in the public domain because the novelization of the first movie lapsed into the public domain! "King Kong" as a title is trademarked and in need of licensing to use, which is why it's Kong: Skull Island, or why all of the Peter Jackson King Kong games had to be called Kong: The Eighth Wonder of the World.

We're seeing more and more people getting crunched in the game industry and in Hollywood special effects, then those same people getting dunked on for being bad at their job when they've been expected to work miracles.
For a game being made in only a year by a small team, this actually doesn't seem too bad. Definitely seems like they had the potential to make a good game, but they just didn't have the time or budget they needed. I've been there, and it sucks, but you just have to do what you can and move on. Hopefully these devs will move on to better opportunities.

They don't have anything to do with the Monsterverse, Devito is apparently really salty that his version of Kong isn't the mainstream one, and he seems to be doing anything he can to force it into the public conscience (including this game), which is why there is an attempt at a streaming series in development for it too. Like he has un-successfully tried to sue Legendary and stuff over the vaguest reasons. Like Kong is a public domain character, he needs to get over himself lol.
It kinda fits the rest of the game that the narrator sounds like she's talking about her childhood pony in Poland, not giant apes on a remote island in the Pacific.
Like, this doesn't look even close to as bad as Gollum from earlier this year. It at least looks like an actual game you can actually play in comparison.

I appreciate the PSA. It's fun to talk shit about bad games, but some people don't realize that while a dev team can make a bad game, only a publisher can sell you that bad game, and that's the real offense.

I don’t work in the games industry, I’m just a janitor. But, it seems to me, that for some reason many publishers just have these really outlandish expectations. It also seems like many developers are badly mismanaged. Why is crunch even an acceptable thing in that industry? Is it mismanagement?
