Warren Spector is an absolute legend in games. It's so cool that you got to interview him. And I'm definitely more interested in their new game now than I was after the reveal.
this interview made me wishlist the game and looking forward to it. i was like cohh, sceptical at first and a bit disappointed that warren spector's next game would be multiplayer where i hoped for a spiritual deus ex successor. but this will have lore snippets for every thief, maybe an overarching questline. solo focused and even noobs get to set their own goals. got me more excited than the reveal trailer. thanks for the interview (and the podcast like every week)
One thing I hate is that, so many things can one shot you that even if you're doing perfectly fine, dealing damage, full health/shield/etc, you have to dodge just cuz there likely is something near or about to hit you. Any signs of said thing? Not that I can see easily, but you HAVE to keep dodging in late maps just cuz. Not as a means of responding to something happening, but just to avoid something you cant fully see. It's dumb. Dodge is meant to exist to avoid something you know is coming. Not to just fucking roll around praying you avoid something you can't see or dont know is there
Yeah the one shot thing they are trying to work on, they mentioned it being harder to test for in-house and that the best solution for them is to wait for players to get data for them in EA to fix the right things that people might run into more often, then as things are culled they can get the more specific scenarios, but yeah it fuckin sucks man lost my HC run to it. Didn't even notice the attack until the last second because I was using a skill on an edge.
@@James-u1ydon't suppose it was an after death time bomb sort of thing that was blocked by the loot text? That's what happened to me XD micro-transaction animation for rare mob death and text blocked it all visually
The other problem is that PoE2 is obviously balanced around the dodge roll, but the dodge roll only works if the mobs don't have any modifiers. As soon as you run into a mob that attacks 20% faster than normal, or hits in a 20% bigger AoE, suddenly the dodge roll doesn't work to get you out of their attacks anymore. I feel like the dodge roll is balanced pretty well for bosses, but it totally breaks when you start running into regular/rare enemies with modifiers. This is something they really need to look at.
I did my first trial as Warrior the other day and it was awesome. One of the harder things I've done in a while, really made me focus. I beat it with 38 honor and I stood to cheer when I did because it had my heart racing. Got through the second trial last night, love how warrior is paced. Slow, methodical, taking turns with the game by using the active block. I raise my shield for just a moment and heal to full off blocking and ignite/stun them with a parry. Rush in with shield bash, stun them on impact and explode everyone's armor, Warcry, then one/two tap them with a heavy hitting skill to cause chain explosions. Rush to the next group. I have beaten all major bosses across the acts within the first three tries, I think Warrior is just different from what people want, idk. It feels exactly like I had hoped, doesn't feel weak par a few bosses but those bosses are complained about by more than just Warrior. But hey, if anything, people will get it buffed and I'll have even more fun doing what I'm doing, which already works wonders. I'm excited for Templar (prefer holy summons over undead) and Druid (very curious what forms it has). Game is incredible, highly recommend anyone to try it out, well worth the entry price.
The main thing that worries me about multiplayer games where story progression is through using a character that only one person can use at a time is how awful lobbies will be with quitters the second they don't get the one character whose stories they haven't completed yet.
That's a good point, I wonder if we can all use the same character if we can are there options for customization, and along that if we have similar story arcs from using the same character do we end up following each other along or is there a form of randomization the routes or the goal while keeping the main portion of the story reading out the same so you all get a good experience from that story while having options.
When I played Grim Dawn I was annoyed to see that M&K controls don't have keyboard movement but controller does. So I held my Steam Controller in one hand and my mouse in the other and played like that. It was a bit freaky but it worked. No other game I found allows me to do this. Which sucks. As for JP's issue with switching to M&K with W being ingrained for other things? Here's a hint: Move your left hand one key to the right, where it rests in the typing position, your left pointer on the raised F key. Try that.
That's wild. Seems like one of those things that's less than optimal in the moment, but creates a more unique and memorable experience in its own scuffed way.

With the amir stuff i think part of what makes it feel weird is that the video they show to introduce him talks about how where he is from there is no game dev jobs, but it doesn't mention that he did in fact go on to work in the games industry. It makes him seem like a lifelong fan who has had no opportunity to work in the industry, taking the initiative to help and thats what i think most people took him to be from the information we were presented. I think its kind of insane that Amir can potentially be vilified because the good thing he did became a little too public and now people with an axe to grind are just going to end up ruining a good thing that has a net positive effect on the industry. It makes him seem like a complete outsider just trying to help, it omits the fact he has been working in the industry for years. Which feels weird even through its probably nothing.
@synthiandrakon I didn't get that impression at all. Like how could you do something like this if you weren't part of the industry? It all just seems like someone with an axe to grind for the TGAs took an easy target and didn't actually care about all the facts. Like why does it matter where he works? He's doing a good thing with no ulterior motives. He's not making money doing this and he wasn't trying to become famous. I guess at the end of the day the only way to do any real good is for no one to talk about your efforts because there is always someone who is going to try to tear down all the good you try to do.

@@Mako2401 He's reviewing the early access version we're all playing. Now that could change in the future and that's why this current review is out. So the players who haven't reached that far into that game, like me, still on early maps, know and talk about it to GGG and hopefully it gets better by the time we reach that point. Kripp isn't a negative nanncy and trying to shit on the game for clicks or something. Just an honest review about late game POE 2 on the version we all have access to right now.
@@omarmahmoud2111 If he makes other reviews as the game gets updated, sure. But just to be clear, the game is not out . This is ea.
