      That's unfortunate to hear! Very happy I live in the States where I can purchase brand new parts readily and also pick up parts from the wreck centers!

    Hey man, sweet Forester. What is your overall opinion of the Bassett wheels? I hear mixed comments online, but I love their look and that they are budget friendly. Also I read a lot about them needing specific lug nuts and to be super cautious when balancing them. Thoughts on that? Thanks so much for any help.

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Caleb,
      For the lugs, you just need them to have a 45 degree taper, aka "lug centric lugs" that will self align the wheels to the hub without needing a hub centric wheel.
      As for the wheels, I first had noticeable vibrations at highway speed but decided to take it to a racing shop for a second opinion/balancing. They were able to rebalance it just using a hubcentric mount and it eliminated all of the vibrations. However, I've also heard people getting screwed with imperfect Bassets as well. I'd double check for any obvious imperfections when delivered
      All in all, they've been pretty good for me with no more vibration at highway speeds

    Hey man! I love your videos! I did have a question, do you have any rub with those tires when turning? I know you have to punch the front pinch welds an all but is there zero rub after that? I have an 08 forester with the same Bassett wheels and I'm considering some 215/70 R 16 tires but would love to go up to 215/75 if I could. Drive on brother!

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ioboy,
      That's correct - Unfortunately you will need to punch the pinch welds. The tires rubbed quite a bit at mid to full turn
      After punching the welds, the Fozzy only rubs when reversing at full turn - no other issues
      Hope that helps!

    Yikes I put 3x that into my Forester haha, the real question though; what’s next?

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Budget buying ftw 😄
      Also, I'm looking into making a custom hitch carrier for spares and Jerry cans (with a local fab shop)
      Upgrading the aux lights to stronger units is on the schedule as well!

      @@davechangauto Hehe my is definitely not a budget build, it’s a let’s see how far a Fozzy can go build; got a lot a big plans for it!
      Ooo looking forwards to that as I’m in the works of planning a custom bumper!

    Hey Dave, loving ur Subi! I have an '08 in an exactly the same color, loving it! Been thinking about fitting those wheels as well, planning some wheel spacers already, but since I live in Germany getting a (legal) lift for this thing is really hard. Could you provide some information on whether these wheels actually fit without a lift? Thanks in advance! :)

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Duke! Thanks for reaching out
      I actually ran this tire size/set up without a lift for awhile. However, I did need to punch in the front pinch welds because they were rubbing aggressively at full turn (if you dont punch the welds, it will cut up the tires!).
      Another issue will be the tires smashing the fenders (and flattening the fenders) when going to bit bumps/pot holes. This caused paint chipping and damage to my fenders as well. If you're unable to get a lift, I would recommend getting stiffer springs to help prevent the tires smashing the fenders. However, if you run a less aggressive offset then you may avoid this issue! For example, the wheels I have are +12mm. I have a +25mm spacer (due to wheels not clearing brake calipers) so I am effectively running a -13mm offset which is insane! If you don't care for the crazy offset then I don't expect as much issues with rubbing
      Hopefully that helps! Feel free to lmk if you have more questions

      @@davechangauto @Dave Chang Thanks for your answer first of all! And yeah, I had a feeling there'd be that many critical points. I'm currently using 6.5 inch rims with an offset of +48, (the stock ones) was planning to install the new tires on 6.5 inch wheels with an offset of +30, but seems that might be too much now. Also having to worry about the brake calipers is an added bonus.
      I also heard a lot of rumors that tires like these would hit the spring plates, did you have any problems there?

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dukezero5074 I have heard that's a common issues with high offset wheels. Unfort I'm not exactly sure which offset would cause that but a spacer could help with any of that issues
      As for brake clearance, I believe the XT's do have a larger caliper when compared to the N/A ones so that's definitely something to consider as well

    What hood ditch mount bracket to you have?

    • @davechangauto

      Hey Kyle, I actually fabricated my brackets by using some aluminum sheets from my local hardware store
      Just bent them into place and drilled some holes for bolts
