I agree with April. My dad and I would always go to Tennessee River (Wilson lake) and fish over spring break. Man we had some good times.
My favorite is June and end of May but November is nice blue cat fishing hear in West Virginia 😊

6:00 I remember that one April me and Dieter caught two 40's in about an hour at one of my favorite fishing spots! Someone needs to hop the mountain to try and do it again... and maybe get a BIGGER fish!

Great info! I like April, October, November and December...biggest ones seem to come in the Fall, but I like fishing the creeks off the main lake when April rolls around for all the reasons you laid out.

Here in East Tn.April is my best month.Big trophy striper fat with eggs.And all three species of catfish.Bait seems to be plentyful and easy to get.Also if i get burnout catching trophy fish i can go crappie fishing and do pretty good on them.

Sounds like you're describing Wisconsin...other than December thru January...After the ice moves out...Wow the fish are bigger!April is amazing...But only last 2 weeks here...
Where I fish the best time is the last two weeks of June and the first two weeks of July shore fishing...they stop spawning around then and start eating and it gets too weedy after that.
I can still catch them but I get blobs of weed all over my line and sometimes they get off

I can’t remember the name but he has a video about his three favorite rigs for catfish and he talks about it.
Dieter, how do you keep from getting snagged so much if you put your lines out without a bobber?
A good part of the time within the last year that I started just putting a weight above my baits and casting it out for bottom fishing or to try and keep it at a certain depth, I end up getting snagged and then have to rerig a line right there or come with a few more ready.
I used bobbers almost always all my life until this year past year because of what I see from others.
so how do you not get snagged a lot especially when trolling?

I feel like we're about a month behind you all down there. I'm up in MD, and it's usually around July 1 spawn is in full effect here.
That may very well be true….generally it’s later the further north you go.
@DieterMelhorn Yes we still have 40 degree river temps in our shallows right now.
It's pretty good here year round , but I generally skip.late July thru early September , because it's absolutely miserable even at night .
One thing I learned fishing creeks as a child is that disturbances in the water are not necessarily bite killers . Quite the opposite in a lot of cases , especially if the commotion stirs up food from the bottom or the banks .
As irritating and annoying as the hordes of summer splash addicts are , you can use them to your advantage .
Same holds true for commercial boat traffic .
The bite often picks up after a barge passes by and the wakes wash food into the water .
