  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 6 ก.พ. 2019
  • Nimai Delgado discusses how he used his mechanical engineering background to optimize his health by choosing the right fuel for optimal human performance and became an elite professional bodybuilder on a fully plant based diet.
What is most shocking, is that Nimai has never eaten any meat in his life. He was raised in a Hindu farm community in Mississippi and describes how his unique childhood experiences shaped his perspective on life. Nimai has gone against the grain his entire life and learned some interesting lessons we can all apply to increase health, performance, longevity and benefit the environment.

I'm a 64 year old woman who just found your amazing presentation and I thank you for it! I became vegan 11 years ago, vegetarian before that for about 15 and my health is excellent overall. I've just started going to the gym to put a little 'curve' to my skinny arms and I feel fantastic! Feeling so strong and healthy at my age is an amazing achievement I think, especially in an era of potential lower lifespans for kids my grandchildren's age!

It’s hard (for me anyway) to not get emotional when trying to convince people of the many damaging aspects of the meat & dairy industries, Nimai is my ultimate inspiration. Dairy intolerance is completely natural. All mammals are supposed to consume their mother's milk from birth until they are old enough that they do not need it any longer. Humans included. During this time in which they are consuming their mother's milk, they are consuming quite a lot of it. Infant mammals are born with the ability to produce an enzyme which is specific to digesting their mother's milk. Their mother's milk, likewise, also contains some of these enzymes, but also many other nutrients which a growing mammal needs, specific to the species. The mother's body, through the nipples, can adjust it's contents depending on the 'feedback' it receives via the infant's saliva. Now, after an infant mammal has stopped consuming its mother's milk, the body no longer has any need to produce this enzyme and it will stop producing it. Not all at once, but slowly over time, and there is no known way to stimulate the body to produce this enzyme again; once the body reduces production of it, that's it, there's no going back. Most culture around the world do not consume animal milks, and those that do consume very small quantities of it, mostly in the form of fermented milk products, i.e. cheeses etc., which are easier to digest than the milk which they were made from. Now, if someone never in their life consumed any dairy after they stopped consuming mother's milk, they would produce either very little or none of this enzyme being produced compared to those cultures who continue into adulthood to consume varying amounts of milk from other animals. So, if you have the occasional ice-cream or cheese or yogourt etc. you likely stimulating a small amount of production of this enzyme and still produce enough of it along with the fact that the product you are consuming has only a small percentage of actual dairy in there, that you will not notice anything. But one day, you might, for whatever reason, decide as an adult to drink a whole large glass of milk, then suddenly notice digestive discomfort as you cannot any-longer digest such large quantities. The dairy industry likes to call this "lactose intolerance" and has influenced the medical establishment in certain countries to use this phrase because that makes it seem like you have some kind of medical condition or problem, but in reality, it is perfectly natural; a perfectly natural part of being a mammal, and being a human as we do not require milk once past the suckling stage. I learnt this from a Russian scientist I met who lived in the same building as i did at the time, and he was very surprised that I did not already know this. I, on the other hand, was shocked at the information as it went against not only my culture, but everything I had been told about consuming the milk of other animals, which, looking back on it, should have been quite obvious, as, why on Earth would one animal be dependent on the milk of other animals -- it makes no sense; especially when we must remove their infant in order to take the milk which was for its consumption. Seems to blatantly obvious to me now, but back then, I never questioned it as it was just the way things were.

Many northern Europeans have no problem digesting fresh milk. I for one eat a lot of dairy and have no issues at 55 y.o. A lot of people who have problems with milk have candidiasis and lack the probiotics to digest it. That's the result of a medical industry that recklessly prescribes antibiotics to a sugar and carb loaded society. Yeast (Candida) loves sugar and starch. Another problem with modern milk is that it contains casein A1 which causes inflammation. Two thousand years ago or more there was only casein A2. Modern herds of Holsteins produce only the more harmful casein A1 type.

What an excellent, succinct, informative speaker! This is by far one of the most excellent speeches ever heard in my lifetime anywhere in the world at the highest intellectual institutions, compounded by the immense positive impacts of applying what he teaches. Kudos, one of the most meaningful career paths you could have ever chosen. Thank you, you are saving lives and planet. Will be saving and sharing this talk widely for the rest of my days. It is solidly science-backed, containing some irrefutable, perennial truths. Blessings to your parents for doing a great job, and to you for getting it. ♡
Btw, the official name of the UN Specialized Agency you cited is the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), headquartered in Rome, Italy.
Also, a natural vegan source of vitamin B12 is nutritional yeast, that can be added to virtually any meal or drink, and actually has a pleasant cheesy or miso broth flavour.
Finally, for those doing Keto, there are some very good Keto Vegan recipes throughout the internet and youtube. One very good youtube channel for this is called "Heavenly Fan," with Vegan Keto versions of just about any food you could crave. However, a big part of this lifestyle change is to cease craving unhealthy foods altogether, and start developing a palate for foods you know are good for you and the planet.
I will never forget that one of the most prominent, highly awarded environmental conservation scientists globally, in his parting retirement speech at one of the world's top conservation congresses, gave the message that veganism was the top action humanity could adopt to save the planet from climate change, and a series of other scourges, besides being more humane. That was his number one message of departure to the world today: Go Vegan.

I'll be honest, I don't care about animals suffering. I'm human. I care about myself suffering. Long story short I got off opiates 4 yrs ago... got into bodybuilding. On drugs I barely ate at all. 1 meal a day for many yrs I never knew what "hunger" meant as I couldn't feel hunger while using. So I get clean, start running/working out... and start eating TONS of chicken and fish. My muscles start growing. But after only 2 yrs of doing this (I'm 36) I start getting pain so bad in every part of my body. My neck, my hips, my back... I replaced all my furniture multiple times... still getting pain. Buying special pillows and pads, still in pain. I keep telling myself "maybe I broke the pain center of my brain by doing too many opiates". But the longer I went on, the more I realized "I wasn't in pain like this my first year OFF opiates... so WHY am I in pain now?" I remember being depressed & anxious AF... but I wasn't having pain like this.
So 7 days ago I decide to cut ALL the meat out of my diet. Start doing tons of beans & broccoli (I can't eat rice). And if anyone saw how I'm sitting on my sofa right now... legs twisted like a pretzel, hunching forward with terrible posture... I would be crying right now if I tried to sit this way just 7 days ago.
I'm now starting to flip the paradigm on my entire life. BEFORE I started using opiates I was a gym rat eating tons of meat and was in great shape ... looked so "healthy" but always felt tired, anxious, depressed, sleep problems, etc. I'm actually starting to think that a high meat diet was causing me to be depressed back then... which is why I started using. Maybe I was too young to feel the physical inflammation back then and it experienced it more as a mood disorder. But I'm now starting to wonder how many people have depression or anxiety problems just from eating too much meat on top of all the hormones and pesticides that come with it.
Not sure what else to say but thank you for this video. I really can't remember the last time I got so excited about something I really feel like I've walked through some health matrix... and really need to test this lifestyle for like a year minimum while documenting my results. This is awesome.

Most people seem to confuse compassion for weakness.
But i believe that compassion is the ultimate measure of a person's strength.

The real strength is measured by compassion.
Strength is measured by how resilient you are through times of adversity.
I believe that strength should be measured by standing up for what you believe in even if it makes the path to where you want to go that much more difficult.

This was a very interesting talk. Thank you for sharing. I've been WFPB Vegan since 6/9/2018. I don't know what medical condition I had, but I was getting a sharp pain in my head and chest maybe three times a week for a few seconds just laying in bed--doing nothing but watching TV. I prayed about it and I had the thought in my head to search for how to reverse cardiovascular disease. I found Forks Over Knives, watched it, and immediately switched. Slowly over time, the pains became less frequent and lower in magnitude until I can't remember the last time it has happened. I told my physician at the time and he said that he was only worried about it if the pains last for more than 24 hours. I'm especially thankful for the last few verses in Genesis 1 that declares what our original diet was. It wasn't until after the global flood in Noah's day when animals were allowed to be eaten. If we were designed to eat a WFPB vegan diet, and that's what the official diet was for at least a thousand years, then I'm all for it.

Hi Nimai, oh my God you really made our plant based transition process so easy. You answered all our questions and concerns as we start on this lifestyle change. We are on our 55+ yrs and planning to retire next year to Batumi, Georgia in Eastern Europe (as the Pandemic permits) where we have the sun, black sea and the abundance of fruits and veggies. We love you now and will follow your journey. Good job my son.
