Exactly what I was going to say. Frog helmet even gets you some of the arcane you need for it. Big bubble is good, not great, but fun, in pvp. Little bubbles seem useless. Big charged bubble into gravity spell to pull them into the slow bubble is kind of a thing.
@@pinkofastora I hope he gives it more of a chance. I run a lvl 45, 30 vigor/30 int build with silver tear mask to get the 18 arcane for bubbles. People underestimate and/or don't know how to dodge the slow weird tracking. I find I can cast it then bait people to run into it trying to get me.
Done this many times before, and I'ma do it again.. I absolutely _LOVE_ Gavel of Haima! It is seriously slept on, just because it's "slow". -First off, it's a big magic mallet.. what more needs to be said. -Has a ton of hyperarmor. -The impact has a deceptively wide AoE. -It pancakes people, which means it has priority over most other attacks. -Because it pancakes, it is great for a neutral reset, or a reset in your favor. -It has immense pseudo-combo potential. Gavel into a well timed Piercer acts as a frame trap, you _better_ roll sideways. Gavel into Carian Greatsword for anyone who rolls sideways. Gavel into Slicer for wake-up, to force a reaction, or to catch someone who dodged the Gavel. Gavel into staggered Gavel, because they expect the slower follow-up and not the first cast again. Love me mallet.
I mean, it's solid for invasions. I wouldn't rely on it too much for duels though - it works when you can rely on your opponent to play badly. I mean... All spellcasting is pretty hamstrung for duels since they nixed chain casting, but I digress.
Originally didn’t want to watch this video, seemed like every other elden ring build video. But then I read “Chrono Trigger frog” and suddenly I had to watch it
Chrono Trigger was my first RPG, and Frog was (and perhaps always will be) my favorite RPG character. Just something so perfect about that honorable frog knight
Chrono Trigger, my favorite game of all time. If Square gave it a remake using that gorgeous 2.5 HD artstyle they used in Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy, and the Live-A-Live Remake, I would be the happiest person on earth. Huh, oh yeah, the build's cool too I guess.
Let's play a game called "Which JRPG character will Saint make next?" Seriously though, I love these themed builds and how even at times if it's not a necessarily good build, you still have fun with it. Keep up the great work!
i did a pure int clayman's/ice spear + spells on one of my playthroughs, pre-nerf it was pretty good! ice spear is super hard to hit in pvp tho, even apart from being nerfed (but then again you've killed millions of people with carian grandeur so what do i know lol)
I guess the silver lining is that Ice Spear helps you ghost proc Frostbite. But yeah you won't hit it unless your opponent is distracted. For invasions... that's actually very likely. My build philosophy is a little different than Saint's, so I'd be inclined to say that unless you want to shell out a bunch of Mind for spells, don't bother using non-buff spells. If your opponent is distracted and you want a ranged punish, Ice Spear will serve you better than fumbling around your magic bar and having an off-hand staff. Pure int spellswords that barely bother with spells beyond buffs (Terra Magica in this case) are very much a thing. Moonveil, Royal GS, and Helphen's Steeple all scale faster with Int than anything else.
Love your gameplay and mentality but I subbed because "I don't have a lot of stats and I really like straight swords! Get off my back, mom!" Me with my partizan.
You mentioned wanting to use the Clayman's Harpoon, I think you're only 1 point of STR away form being able to use it. And yeah, it's the best spear for an INT build. But you also mentioned wanting to play around with the Ice Spear Ash of War, and personally I've found that the best weapon to put that on is a Twinblade. Because you're always spinning the twinblade around willy nilly with it's normal moveset, the startup spin of Ice Spear doesn't look all that different, so it can be an incredible mix-up even when up close to your opponent. It's also probably best that way since the projectile on Ice Spear has zero tracking.
IMO best AoW for Clayman's is Sword Dance - it's just an insane Roll Catch and gets even crazier when you buff it. It's one of the few weapons that goes pretty crazy when buffed with Magic Armament. Not sure I believe in this "half sorcerer" build philosophy though. Why run Carian Slicer alongside a normal weapon? Just use one or the other, I'd say. Or just don't bother with spells at all, if you're not using Mind. Your weapon and AoW will almost always be better. Pure Int spellblades are very much a thing in this game, and plenty of AoW's will do the things you were looking at spells to use.
Adula's moonblade is a fine spell, especially when paired with set up spells. The frost wave lingers long enough to catch side rolls, and back rolls if they time their rolls wrong.
I swear swift shard might be the most annoying spell to fight, but it’s so fun for pestering. And I’ve not really tried the greatsword for this, but piercer staggers practically any ash and that’s kind of nice. The build looks fun already^
adula's moonblade is actually kinda good as an invader, the projectile can cut corners a bit without being destroyed so it's great to attack room campers from an angle they cant see you. Ive killed so many people trying to hide around the corner in the haligtree prayer room
I stuck with the short sword on my Astrologer. Ashes of War are interesting in this game. When you put it on a weapon, it becomes something else. If I could farm broadswords, I'd probably use the broadsword too. But I could farm 10 short swords and have different AoW on them. Square Off, Lion's Claw, Sword Dance, Spinning Slash, Impaling Thrust, Phallanx, etc. Just swap out when I need to use something. Even Perseverance is amazing. I pop it and now I have hyper armor on any 1 spell I cast or I use it to drink blue estus.
I'm not saying that anything this build is doing is wrong, I heard that you only should use magic infusions only if you plan to use the ash of war (I know he uses his ash of war often, but wouldn't it be optimal to equip two swords? One cold and one for the ash of war? Or is that too much micro management for little return? Like should his lion's claw broadsword have been cold over magic?). If you plan on hitting people with the sword, cold was the way to go. Am I wrong? Is it actually better for an 80 int build (no strength or dex, except to get minimum requirements) to use a magic sword over a cold sword when you only want to hit enemies and non boss mobs?
Cold infusions scale better physical stats in general so magic infusion is usually better for a int build. For Ashes of war "if an affinity other than the original of the Ash of War is applied, then a damage reduction is applied" at max its a 10% decrease in damage, not that big of a deal.
@@unboundundead3276 in boss fights or against tougher PvE enemies, does the frost proc reducing the enemy defenses make up for decreased AR on a full int build? Doesn't frost decrease magic defense? I appreciate your insight
@@drakejohnson5386 Depends on what levels you play at, but for 150 and below I can pretty confidently say that unless you are using fire to reset the frostbite damage proc the 20% decrease to defences won't make up for the lower AR for a mostly INT build. @@unboundundead3276 A build I want to try is a power standing curved swords/twinblade build with one being bleed and the other cold. Would it be best to just pump dex and ignore the int scaling for cold weapons? This is using rotten wing, lord of blood exultation (you know where I'm going).
