An interesting thing I noticed is that the Gargoyle’s Black Blade inflicts a black flame status effect with it’s ash of war rather than the red destined death effect. Just a little thing I noticed.
blackflame spells look so cool, but in PvP they really struggle. also a tip for anyone else doing a blackflame build: try out the pest's glaive. It's got that white/black look, really low melee stats, and can be infused with black flame tornado. You also get a 2% elemental resist buff when holding it, which isn't much but it's something. Halberds also have a great rr1 so it's viable.
@Charles Hastings ooo that sounds nasty. I didn't think you could double proc the bf effect tho? I thought getting hit with it again just resets the dot counter, so simultaneous hits are pointless. But the deadly poison would definitely help drain their health
Having to switch between two handing and your talisman is a waste, use the urumi, its by far the best weapon to use blackflame blade on besides the pike.
You should have just made a 30 minute video. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we want more Sane Ryan injected straight into our eyeballs. Also, my build philosophy is largely inspired by yours. I make themed roleplay spellsword builds. I make mine a lot more heavy duty though. Without sacrificing the cool/roleplay factor. A lot of people have been begging me to show a black flame build. It's something I've been putting off for a long time. I'm not the type of guy who uses meta stuff. But I don't use bad stuff either. I always use pretty good stuff. But black flame is like... on the lower end of mediocre I think. I'm not sure what it is. It's almost like FROM didn't want the black flame stuff to be good. Same with death Blight. It's like cool stuff can't be good in this game. I've always admired your ability to use less than good stuff to win. Like your single straight sword. I prefer dual straight swords for obvious reasons. They're very good, but not broken. Based on what I've seen from you, black flame can be pretty okay when used properly. But it's still something I'm going to procrastinate about. People keep asking for me to do a build and I just keep putting it at the bottom of the list, lol.
The urumi and pike are the best two weapons to use blackflame blade on... as well as the Trolls Hammer, which was made SPECIFICALLY for this spell, as its one of the few weapons that gets faith scailing and fire damage while also letting you buff with even more fire damage. Also the effect of BFB is transferred to the troll roar ash of war it has.
Love it when a full gank impudently aggro's a bunch of enemies, only to then get their asses handed to them as the invader and enemies team up on the gank. Even if it's just an Irithyll Dungeon shambling hollow, it feels good to call out "GET GANKED MF!"
I always point down at hardcore gankers. I also always turn to fight invaders instead of fog walling them because when I invade I hate getting fog walled.
@Charles Hastings agreed. I carry that. Misericorde and the cannon. It's crazy how many people don't know you can't parry whips lol and they absolutely wreck mages. I need to practice equipping the scythe to counter shields. Thankfully I have a saint to enlighten me on royal knights resolve on the scythe just smacks shields away.
This build inspired me to make a level 200 dex faith blackflame build just like yours. Do you have keen infusion on your weapons? I'm about to try keen infusion on 60 dex with the blackflame blade buff with 60 faith, because the wiki says you get more fire damage from the buff off of incant scaling, which I hope is true and/or significant...

Hey man, I’m thinking of making a very quick dex build, but so far I only have a couple weapon ideas. What types of weapons would you suggest for an invader to have? Or more accurately, what do I need to be able to do using my weapon selection (like run-downs, making space, getting the host moving, etc. stuff like that)
Guardian swordspear, any katana, any whip, claymore works, godskin stitcher, great knifes/any dagger, noble slender swords, spiked spears, I always have 2 scavenger curved swords as my side weapon with thunderbolt on one, pretty much anything that you can use with ur stats will be good. Use lightning pots and perfume items. I have about 50ish upgraded weapons on my 156 dex build not including doubles. Just find what you might wanna try out and upgrade it. 60 v 26 m 40 end 19 str 60 dex Get 10 dex from tailsmens 10 from wonderous Fisk
Ashes of war are important that’s why I upgrade so many weapons. Make use of items. Pulley crossbow can be fun. 19 strength will allow you to use the zwiehander colossal sword and omen cleaver for high damage weapons. At the end of the day it’s about how you play not the weapons you use so keep that in mind. You must learn when and where to be aggressive. When and where to back off. How to force heals. When to pick and choose your battles. You must be able to win 1v1s if you are gonna invade you have to be a confident duelist. Don’t forget dodging and learning spacing. GL

Black Flame Tornado absolutely melts in pvp. Gotta bait em in a bit but boy oh boy if you can pull it off it is devastating

you literally use dual straight swords on your main build
Double the 60 minute-long Irithyll invasion and give it to -the next person- us all.

To be fair, I don't think black flame tornado is on-par with bloodhound step, even for PvE, and certainly not for PvP.

You have to beat the Godskin Duo in Crumbling to get Black Flame Tornado
he's referring to the godskin peeler which has black flame tornado intrinsically, which can be found in the windmill village
you get the peeler in windmill village which has BF tornado as default ash of war
