The Zabrak has always been one of my favorite species because of their high pain threshold and Darth Maul is arguably the prime example. His harsh training under Darth Sidious and martial prowess made him a powerful foe in battle.

Darth Maul was prime example of using Force to amplify wielders own power to horrifyingly high levels. Something Kreia would most likely approved and harshly reprimanded his obsessive personality.
But IMHO Darth Maul was simply as trapped and in pain as Darth Vader was. Obi Wan discovered that in the final battle he had everything Maul cared about taken from him just as everything from Obi Wan was (Qui Gon Jinn, Satine Kryse, others).
So at Maul's end, Obi Wan truly felt compassion for him. Probably said he would have made an incredible Jedi had things been different. I could have called you friend.
That baby zabrak made me think of they're born with sharp horns already, and if they do childbirth like humans like 1000*x ouch 😭😂

It would be interesting to see some zabraks rescuing and reintroducing their dathomirian cousins back to iridonia after the fall of the night sisters.
Fascinating. Shame the Zabraks and Twi’leks never had any political alliances, they would have made formidable allies against the slavers and the Mandalorians that attacked each species. Not mention they are kind of sister species being engineered from the same machine.

In canon there are no differences at all. Dathomirian Zabraks are merely a subspecies. In legends however, Dathomirians are a hybrid species between Zabrak’s and humans.

I never knew there were artificial races in Star Wars. Or that Dathomerian Zabraks were influenced in this way, i mean it was obvious from the clone wars series but I never knew there was a split.
Most of this isn't current canon; everything about the Rakata is from Legends. There's nothing wrong with keeping up the Legends information but it's pretty sloppy to not distinguish those sources.
Roughly 60%+ of the galaxy is "artificial" races I'm sure. The Precursor empire of the SW Galaxy had the tech and know-how to re-arrange star systems and terraform planets with roughly the same casual disregard you might re-arrange furniture in your home. I'm sure about half of the galaxy's species are, in some way, the direct result of their work.
This same empire used the Rakata as slaves until their disappearance, at which point the Rakata became the big boys in town. And the Rakata then also created new species of their own. (Thanks be to our Rakatan overlords for creating the perfect Star Wars waifu race: Twi'leks)
So really, with the possible exception of yoda's species (I think they are confirmed to pre-date the Rakata as a species according to Legends) and potentially humans as well, most of the SW galaxy is "life-seeded" species.

Well the Wookies are also a creation of the Rakata as they have said Kashykk is not their native homeworld.
It's beginning to look like perhaps the Empire's "human only" stance is due in part to humans being the only naturally evolved race. Hear me out.
It is said in Legends that there was a great ancient war between species on Coruscant. The Taug and the Zhell which were human. The Zhell drove out the Taug who in turn became the precursor of the Mandalorians. The Zhell remained on what is modern Coruscant. So the humans naturally evolved while other races were "genetically engineered" by the Rakata. It's also noted in Legends that the Iridonian had developed hyperspace technology on their own as well as the Hergalic (sentient dolphins, seals, etc) and that by the time of the Ancient Republic both were seeking contact.

I played through the trilogy for the first time maybe 4 months ago, and I dont want to build it up or overhype it, but it was one of the best video game experiences I've had in my life. The trilogy has its flaws like everything else, but if you can immerse yourself into the world, the games are some of the best out there. I really wish I could go back and experience them all for the first time again. The music for the games already has this like nostalgic feeling for me and side note the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard from a video game recently. Hope you enjoy the trilogy!

Thanks for clarifying Maul's backstory. I had thought his mother gave her son to Sidious as his padawan as a symbol of their alliance. It makes sense that Sidious kidnapped Maul as a child.

my two favrotie races to play on SWTOR is 1st: Zabrak and 2nd: Cathar i fine both of the races interesting cause both are a warrior race and have deal with some type of invasion of their home world which lead to them being bounty hunters and force wielders ect. both have a lot of potential to produce great storylines for movie ideas besides the ones when know now

You forgot that the First and Original species that inhabited Dathomir were the “Kwa” who also scioned the Birth of the Rakata infinte Empire, byintroducing them to Stargates.
I thought it was the Goa'uld who introduced the Stargates!
Well the Kwa were using ancient "stargates" but have devolved into the Kwi and have sadly forgotten how to use the gates.
Republic and later Imperial scientists attempted to understand the stargates but had no real luck with it. It uses a form of hyperspace and it was used by the Republic to send a team. But it's unknown how it can be built again. It implies a force user is needed but it doesn't say how. But if all tech in the ancient past was force driven, and only a few Jedi remain well doesn't look good to ever learn or use these gates.

Bones of babies are quite soft. It takes some years for them to get really hard and when people get really old, bones get harder and harder, but also at bit brittle. For example while performing reanimation actions it´s quite common for ribs of grown ups to be broken (especially if the one who performs the actions is not really trained), but it´s really difficult to break those of children. It´s not a far stretch to assume that it works similarly with Zabraks, so their horns are probably quite soft and flexible. Other mammals often have some kind of thin, furry skin covering their horns while they´re growing.
Thank the Force. Now the whole Dathomirian Zabrak thing finally makes sense to me! I was confused for the longest time of their skin color, male/female difference, tattoo or natural born facial marking....
Most of this information is Legends. In canon, Dathomirian Zabraks are just a subspecies of Zabrak. They are not Zabrak-human hybrids

This is actually really helpful dude! I’m working on a story about an OC Zabrak Grey Jedi in between episodes 3 and 4, so this is helping me fill in a lot of lore gaps!
The Zabrak really are maybe my favorite alien species in Star Wars, just because of how convoluted they are. I mean, you've got at least 3 different names for the species, 2 homeworlds, an entire human hybrid subspecies, 2 members of the species being introduced in the first prequel with 0 acknowledgement of it. Whenever I'm given the option to play a Zabrak, I take it. A typo in KOTOR almost created a whole separate species!
In canon, Dathomirians are not humans hybrids at all. They are 100% Zabrak. Only in legends are they are a hybrid species between humans and Zabraks.

Fun Fact: To explain the existence of the red/orange/Sith style skinned Zabraks in Star Wars the Old Republic despite Dathomir not having the presence of the Nightsisters, the Old Republic encyclopedia states that these Zabraks were divergent Zabraks from colonies established in the Outer Rim fairly close to the Sith Capital of Dromund Kaas.

In canon, Dathomirian Zabraks are not human hybrids. They are fully Zabrak. Dathomirians are a mere subspecies of Zabrak, not a human/zabrak hybrid species.

In canon, she is not a human. Dathomirians in canon are not a hybrid species at all, they are a mere Zabrak subspecies. This video mixed legends and canon lore fore some reason.
In the April Fool's joke perpetuated by Star Wars dot com in 2006, wherein the world from Willow, Andowyne, was listed as a part of Star Wars canon, it was suggested that Balmora, the evil sorceress, was also a Night Sister. I've even seen it suggested that she was the older sister of Charal who stranded her with the marauders before leaving to conquer Andowyne. Obviously not even canon in the old EU, but a fun tidbit nonetheless.

so where do the ratattaki fit in? they're in SWTOR male and female, Asajj looks very like one and I assumed she was before that arc of TCW, grey/white skin, silver eyes, no hair, some face markings but more geometrical and blue

The lore of the Zabrak is rather fascinating, though I do find it leaves some intriguing unanswered questions when it comes to the races in the Old Republic era, for instance- Asajj Ventress is a Dathomirian female who spent a significant part of her life living on Rattatak. Has it ever been addressed that a shaven-headed Dathomirian female ends up looking pretty much identical to a Rattataki, I wonder? Was it supposed to be a deliberate move to hide there, among an alien race where she would appear indistinguishable- or is the entire Rattataki species actually the result of a misunderstanding between writers at some point, basing the appearance of both genders of the entire species upon the slightly atypical example of the appearance of one woman from an entirely different species, who just happened to be associated with the planet? Or are we meant to assume Rattataki to be another Zabrak sub-species (or related product of the Mother-Machine) in which *both* male and female ended up with the 'hornless, hairless, pale' "look"?
On the absolute flip side of this, of course, SWTOR allows for the creation of many female Dathomirians - the "Imperial Zabrak" race, who, rather than sporting the Ventress-like Nightsister look, instead resemble simply a gender-flipped Maul- i.e. red and orange skinned, with sharp Dathomirian-style horns, etc. The prominent NPC Akaavi Spar is a notable example of these. Is there enough variation in the look of Dathomirian females- those, for instance, with less human in their ancestry- for these to be genuine Dathomirians, or must we assume them to be actually members of *another* Zabrak variant, who just happen to share similar features with Dathomirian males?
The main reason I’m interested in zabraks is because the female zabrak character in Star Wars Jedi knight Jedi academy is thicc

It always annoyed me that TCW made Dathomir into some sort of spooky dark side aligned planet because of the night sisters despite the fact that the night sisters are supposed to be the minority of the people who use the force on Dathomir the light side witchs are both more numerous and more prominent, but then again TCW fucking up the lore is pretty much par for the course
But the Dark Side is more powerful in the physical sense. I could see the planet having a Darkness to it that the Light Side switches are constantly fighting against. Or maybe even that the planet became corrupted by the Dark Magic or some dark Ritual by the Night Sisters.

It wasn't just the Clone Wars. After the Courtship of Princess Leia, what media I've seen (including the game Empire at War: Forces of Corruption) just glosses over any non-Dark Side forcewielder.
@@classofrass5752 yeah sure and if that's what TCW had said I might have been fine with it at least for the sake of TCW by itself it wouldn't fit in with the wider continuity at all but then nothing in TCW really does, my real problem with it is that it's indicative of TCW's insultingly basic views on morality which I might be okay with if it was just a simple children's show but it and it's fans constantly trying to portray it as some fucking incredibly deep masterpiece when in reality it's just kind of an average children's show and TCW's incredibly simplistic view of morality is incredibly troubling considering the subject matter is the clone wars which is very much supposed to be a morally ambiguous conflict when either side is a clear-cut good guy or bad guy and this problem is especially evident with the clones who pretty much all have the same cookie cutter good guy action hero personality whereas clones prior to this had been portrayed in a much more varied and interesting morally gray fashion and it doesn't just stop there basically everything that previously in Star wars had been portrayed in an interesting nuanced way becomes an incredibly simplistic good versus bad issue like turning Ryloth from a a planet who's corrupt leadership sells its own people into slavery for a profit into being an unambiguous good guy victim of the separatists, or The mandalorian civil war being changed from a nuanced conflict about why people fight what they fight for and what isn't isn't justified in war and conflict into being just an insultingly simple peace good war bad conflict, or deciding that because Dathomir is where the night sisters live they have to change it from a fairly normal jungle world into a creepy red sky hellscape and that's just off the top of my head I'm pretty sure there are lots of other examples as well
@@nickmalachai2227 what are you talking about plenty of stories post courtship use the light side witches in fact I'd say they're more used than the dark side witches prior to TCW coming along and fucking things up sure some sources do focus on the night sisters but TCW goes out of its way to portray the night sisters as the ruling group on Dathomir when they're supposed to be small outcast groups, also forces of corruption is notoriously fucky with Canon so I wouldn't say that that's a good source to use

your timeline is a little off, It was Jedi Knight Revan who took down the Mandalorians, he didn't fight with them, he beats Mandalore in combat to become the new madalore, then leaves with the mask that unites the mandalorians, causing them to scatter and return to fighting each other, he then went after the sith emperor who he was told by mandalore was the one who had organised the mandalorian wars, the sith emperor(or as Kreia says, Revan himself?) turned him to the dark side and he then started the jedi civil war with Malak. Meetra went into exile(forced, she was the only Jedi not to follow Revan and return to face the council, who exiled her) whilst Revan took over the galaxy and only emerged when he disappeared. That of course is after he is attacked by Malak, had his memories blocked/wiped by the council, and had saved the galaxy from Malak's(formerly his) sith empire.
Emperor Vitiate is the one who organized the mandolorian war, he turned Revan and Malak, they managed to break his control and turned on him though, and that is where Revan's empire came from. When he turned back to the light, he went after Vitiate and that is where he disappeared during the second game. The MMO goes into it a bit more, but there is a book or comic that goes into it in much better detail.

As both characters are from Kotor, I'll stick to the basic, non expand version of the story from those games. As far as I'm concerned, Revans story isn't complete until they give us Kotor 3, not some stupid world of warcraft wannabe
