You should be wearing protective gear, especially during demolition. Keep in mind, rotted would contains mold, which releases spores when exposed. Your sneezing may be related to the air you're breathing.
@@Justmakingobservations good tips! We did figure out why we were sneezing, it was the ant killer we sprayed in the back room. We stopped sneezing later this day and didn’t start again, until we sprayed more ant killer lol. But what you said is true of course and something to consider for sure
From someone who has taken on some pretty big rv projects: You are doing great. You are so right about knowing when to STOP. Craig’s skills are truly coming to life as you strengthen up the rv. This is so much fun - I wish I was there.
Thank you so much for that compliment! We're trying to keep that balance of doing it well, but also stay in our time and budget plans, so our motto for this renovation has become "good enough" 🤣
Seems the trepidation/ fear factor part is over . Multi tool , and self tapping screws gets things done fast. Nice job putting in a joyce for that wall.
I agree 100% on the multi tool. Was doing home improvements and that it would be a good idea to get one after I borrowed the neighbors. So when we started reverbing our class C, I knew I needed to buy my own. Used it quit a bit.
You guys are so much fun to watch. You both have a great sense of humor and it’s very obvious that you love each other. It’s very refreshing! Thank you for sharing your life with us..❤
Y'all seem to be really enjoying this project. Can't wait to see how it all turns out. Told the family we had to check and see if you had released a new video and heard a collective gasp in anticipation -- we here with you all the way.😊
I just love you guys to pieces. Craig is your stud! Craig is bougie. Haha, Victoria you’re such a kind wife, you are constantly complimenting your bougie hubby. As a fellow native Floridian, I’d say, he’s bougie with a country twang. God bless you both. Been watching since episode 1 and haven’t missed a beat. Thanks for enlightening this 60 year olds day. Living on a farm has my travel days limited.
I just ❤ you two! So fun to watch your adventures and learn things along with! You are both amazing and an inspiration- can’t wait to see more progress!
great stuff spray foam will work as an adhesive on the luan/metal siding when you put the pink styrofoam back in place. use water in a spray bottle and lightly moisten the luan/siding, spray the great stuff, and push the styrofoam into place. moisture helps the spray foam adhere to the metal siding... the spray foam will seep into the luan and give it more integrity. can use this method to repair delaminated fiberglass siding.
We realized later on that it was the ant killer spray we’d sprayed in that back room. Didn’t give it enough time to settle 😅 (we didn’t continue to sneeze after that day, but did spray more some time later and were sneezing again) and thank you so much!!
Ignore all the people talking about black mold like its going to jump out and attack you😂😅 love the rebuilding as how i would have done it also👍 cant wait for the next episode!!
haha there probably is some mold in there, but our main goal is to make sure we seal everything up (will be getting to that soon) so that moisture can't get in the RV and the mold can't keep growing. Beyond that... we'll keep hoping it doesn't jump out and get us 😅 Thanks for joining us on the adventure!!
Craig Remember the stretgth of your surfboards come mostly from the foam core inside and partly the stringer not the fiberglass in modern surfboards. All my sanders and grinders that have lasted me decades have been Milwaukee's
Absolutely needed your video right now. Love the adventurous, very happy, structural work on your RV. I probably would have walked away but you two made it all work perfectly. Really needed your positivity! Thank you!!
You are doing an amazing job on the old RV. If you think you should replace something it’s probably better you do. You will definitely get your money back and more if you decide to sell. Keep up the great work.
Guys just keep being you, don’t be swayed by other creators. We love watching YOU and apparently a lot of other do as well, your personalities are what’s making your channel grow so quickly.
Great job guys. As a professional residential carpenter I can tell you that Luan is pronounced "Lou-on". If you are worried about the RV breaking down and you plan on keeping it for a while have you considered drive train renovation? Back in the day they didn't have all the electronics of today that need power and charging as you go down the road. How about replacing the alternator with a new higher amp alternator. Maybe replace the water pump, thermostat and hoses too. Considering it's age maybe even the heater coil too. That is located on the passenger side behind the dash. Then maybe even the power steering pump. The master cylinder for the brakes wouldn't be a bad idea either. For the transmission maybe drop the pan. Replace the filter and add new transmission fluid. While the pan is off see how clean it is. Do you have any metal shavings in it. Check all of your front end parts too. Upper and lower control arms, idler arms and the steering knuckle. If any of this is lose or worn then replace it and realign the front end. For the engine itself do a complete tune up and oil change. Does your dash air conditioning work? It is so much easier to take care of these things now than later when you are on the road. Plus with your RV remodel this will basically give you a new RV and you won't need to worry about breaking down. Wishing you all the best. 🙂
Instead of doing wallpaper. maybe glue 1/8" paneling. It will add strength to the wall. Also a trim router with a cutoff bit might help cutting out parts.
Thanks for sharing this. I would have thought you would use spray foam to seal the pieces together. I like the views of the old RV and seeing how that floorplan was placed.
Milwaukee tools have a lifetime guarantee, you should check that. I don't know if it's only their power tools or what but worth looking into. I saw a guy return a drill that was about 15 years old and they replaced it for free.
I tend towards DeWalt, some people do Mikita and others seem to always get Milwaukie. I look forward to seeing how you deal with the uneven bits. I agree, you need to balance the worth of the RV with how solid do you need it to be and how long you need it to be solid.
You two crack me up. Yes, good enough should be your motto with this RV but I’m pretty sure your good enough is better than most other people’s awesome! Can’t wait to see it finished but enjoying watching the process.
I’m impressed with y’all’s macgyvering these repairs! My Type-A self would’ve dismantled the entire RV getting rid of the gross wood before I even realized it would make repair on a timeline and budget impossible. Great job staying focused! Are you concerned about the structure on the opposite wall behind the closet?
wow love watching you guys i just spent 3 months building a micro camper from scratch a great deal of work i wish i had chosen your type of rebuild o well thanks for posting love from nova scotia canada
That's the way they are built - like cheap beer coolers. Thin skin inside and out with an insulation core holding the 'sandwich' together. Interior cabinets and walls keep them pulled together with their staples and glue. If there's any 'real' wood inside them it's a premium model.
That 460 is a good solid engine. If you’re having problems starting after driving you should first check the fuel system (carburetor, fuel pump, fuel lines). New plugs and check the ignition system 9distributor, points, coil). Also check the fuel tank. A lot of those older models had steel fuel tanks and you could get rust clogging the fuel lines making it hard to start.
Advice from some one who has repaired water damaged walls. Pull out all the dried wood. Use your multi tool to remove any stuck wood. Your fiberglass will not fall out and you can work from the inside. Use Bondo to seal the inside of the fiberglass. Bondo,1/4 sheet of wood then pink insulation. If you skip these steps you are guaranteed to have leaks. New wood will not smell. Buy a gallon of adhesive to put your layers together. You can cut tracks in the foam for extra wood supports. Do it once and do it right. Our repairs have held up many years later and no leaks.
hey guys!! wish i was there helping yall! looks so much fun and it’s teaching me a lot for when i start my own RV project! love you both and keep up the great work i can’t wait to see the outcome🫶🏻
You know they make a textured wallpaper that some would use to cover old paneling. It works well to cover imperfections. It's thicker than regular wallpaper and you can paint over it. Just a suggestion!
Replace your gas cap. They can help cause vapor lock and hard to start situations in hot weather or high engine temps...its the first cheap thing to change.plus change the fuel filter.....
Full time rving for the past 7 years and owning travel trailers for more than 30 years, I find my house building skills are limiting when it comes to a box rolling down the road. Structural sound is not always best. These boxes are meant to flex in certain areas. To stiffen up an area might do damage elsewhere. Good luck
Really enjoying the renovation video TH-cam. By the way Craig, I'm convinced that it's mold in that camper that you're allergic to. You guys are doing a great job and as always making us laugh along the way- Kyle and Michelle
thanks so much for coming along on this crazy adventure! 😆 It turned out we were allergic to the ant killer spray. Apparently we didn't let it settle long enough (we sprayed it in that back room), because we stopped sneezing but a week or so later when we sprayed it again... the sneezes were back 😆
Have you figured out furniture and floor plan yet? I bought a new 2025 fourwinds class c and immediately updated the manual theater seats with rc power seats. Light gray in color just sitting in my garage. Let me know if you would have need of them
I tend to be overcautious so I would probably leave some screws in that are countersunk so it can still be smooth and may have more structural integrity since it is a wall vs a floor. That being said, glues do a pretty good job.
I bought a multi tool years ago from Harbr Freight for cutting under door jams. Found so many other uses for it since. Mines not as fancy as yours but mine was only $20.00

Hint glue and staple everything, glue in backing strips where ever you want to staple. Add small wood blocks as gusset to all 90degree joints.
I have all kinds of tools these days, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue. They all work good.
When you replace, or reinstall, your insulation, use aluminum tape to seal the cracks.
