- This summer will have about no poker, but it will have a lot of dealing poker. I'm dealing the summer poker series at The Orleans on W Tropicana in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2024 Orleans Summer Open is the official name. Here are my tales.

That’s good pay. Much better than door dashing these days. I really need to make the switch. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like dealing a series like this is a good way to pass the WSOP time. I know it doesn't give you the same time freedom, but gives a consistent "winrate" while you're not actually playing.
You're totally right about the time it takes for a dealer to read hands. What's worse is when the players misread their hands & add to the confusion 😂😅
Yeah, they're not always 100%.
Players "add to the confusion" because so many dealers cannot read the board. Once players see you can read the hand, and you do this by calling the hands out clearly and verbally, they will ease up.
Much respect sir. Thanks for the vids!
Great recap and good to hear things are going smoothly, players are being understanding, and no floor calls! A question and a suggestion: Q. Do you get an allocated share of the tournament tips? S. Consider first pushing the 3 board cards up to identify the high hand and place a chip(s) from the nearest half stack just above (nearer to you) the winning high player hand(s), no argument as you bring the 3 cards back down is a good sign, then read the hands for low and push up the 3 board cards to identify the low, and place a lower value chip(s) from the other half stack just above the winning low player hand(s), no argument, then you methodically kill the non winning hands and push (or split) the two half-pots starting with the high(s), and finally kill the winning hands. Players get used to this quickly and see what you are doing, and it is a bit slow but very accurate and all the players in the hand can object if they like as you move to kill the hands.
While I have never dealt professionally, I have dealt home, club, and charity tournament Omaha 8 with no complaints for decades now. Just FYI ... I realize it might not work for you or be agreeable with the casino floor. GL and wishing you continued peace from the players.
p.s. Of course side pots can add to the fun.
I was a poker dealer for 5 years at my local casino. It was a blast made alot of friends. It was one of those jobs you looked forward to going to!
Great Content, I love following your poker journey!😎😎
Glad you're enjoying it.
When you deal Stud games, like Razz, make sure you place the antes in the center of the table where the Flop Box is. That way, you will never get distracted and accidentally put out a Flop, oops!
Very nice day, well done!
Its noon and im just watching the daily video.. was running around all morning to get everything done so i can be back to vegas this afternoon. Gonna play my first wsop event of the summer. Hope to see you at orleans
I'll be there. Glad you took care of the chickens first.
Loving the videos and info
Thanks
I used to deal BJ in oklahoma, averaged about 19 an hour in 2015. I do not miss it. Best of luck to you sir.
Thanks
Start by looking for the nuts or near nuts first...ex: if the board is paired look for pocket pairs that would make a full house. Same with low, if there are three low cards on the board (kq85A), look for 2-3....Omaha players are rarely in without a nut hand...
I was at series a few years back playing 1/3. A young girl set down to deal. First pot was $12 and she raked $5. The player said what are you doing. She said she had never dealt a cash game, but they told her to rake $5. She did not know how to rake and we had to show her how to rake. Lots of new dealers in low stakes games.
He seems happy that’s important. Gl nomad!
I was a participant in the PLO8 tournament at the Orleans.
Finished 45 out of 251 just out of money.
That's a good day's pay.
I’m sure you are a perfectly fine O8 dealer, (maybe you don’t play the game yourself?) but great dealers absolutely can read 12 cards in seconds. The key is that you have to stop reading all the cards at showdown and instead just look for the nuts. You already know by the time the river is out whether there is a low or not, so when the cards hit the felt, you immediately look for the A-2, (or similar if counterfeited). Same with the high. If you don’t see nut nut, then move to second nuts, and so on. I’ve even seen dealers ask players to identify who has specific hands to get it done faster. You will be able to read showdown much faster this way. Only downside is you can’t turn your brain off, but since you are calculating pot anyway, might as well add another thing to the list.
When people have the nuts it's easy. When they don't, especially when there are 4 or 5 low cards on board, it's difficult.
How about be a pro player and turn your cards over like a pro. i.e. I have A 3 for low and 3 7 flush.
@@mixedmartialanarchist6469 Some people do that. It helps. Still, they make mistakes and I need to check.
I saw you yesterday & wanted to say hi, was unable to catch you on break. Hopefully better luck today!
RV Jenn? That did see me today?
@VegasPokerNomad Yes I did. It was very nice talking w you. I did get a discounted room BTW. I'll bring few Sparkli Pops tomorrow (Sat) if you want.
@@jennky8447 Using the code "POKER?" -- Okay, I'll be in later.
What’s the largest cash game tip you’ve ever received?
have you found any time to play since youve been dealing?
i've been considering dealing locally but we only have 1 room and will have to travel an hour-3 hours to nearest poker rooms in my area.
I haven't played since the series started.
Dealer at my home game makes $700-1200 minimum at my 1/2 game, crazy how cheap casino players are with cash tips
Congratulations on your tips. I certainly would give you big money if you was my dealer! I am wondering about the chips in the tournament. Are they new, used and how do they look? How dirty do you get as a dealer with everything passing through your hands? I also have heard about marking cards. Have you ever seen marked cards?
The chips are used. But stacks of 20 are the same size. The cash game chips are so worn you can fit 23 into the rack. Never seen marked cards.
"The way for it to get easier is to deal it". Indeed. Poker should be more formalized at showdown. Players should show, zip it and wait. Certainly they have a high interest but they should wait for the dealer to actually verbalize the winning hand. By verbalizing the winning hand, losers would all come to know that they lost. The dealer would still feel some pressure but that pressure would stem only from quickly analyzing hands as opposed to both analyzing the hands and fielding player comments pertaining to all showdown hands simultaneously.
Nah bad idea cuz the dealer can make a mistake that's why u should always table ur hand cuz once the cards down they speak for themselves
@@nathankomosa8928 By verbalizing, players are then positioned to object by verbalizing their better hand. Simple.
Anybody else realize that he is much happier as a person working then he was playing poker ? Having steady income shows happiness rather than the grind
of just playing poker for a living on the other side.
Are you missing playing at all?
What are the ?downs? you're talking about that gets you 15 bucks? I have never heard about it I think.
1 down = 30 minutes
Each table has a time card with a row for every half hour of the day. You write your name when you sit. And if you deal any portion of that down, you get credit for a full down.
I dealt the World Series in 4 different decades . I’m tommyguns
Awesome
Where's that's crybaby trooper?
Heard a rumor Caesar's might close there poker room in a month to make room for high limit slots.
Where you hear that?
According to a stranger on the internet, a caes p dealer has been offered a job in Laughlin while the poker room gets remodeled. Beginning July 16, 2024
@@bennybeeeee Ok, is the room getting "remodeled" or "repurposed?" Big diff.
Who knows man. People can speculate, but nobody really knows. Might not even be getting remodeled
@bennybeeeee Yep. I just watched a "best rooms" review from a vlogger I trust and his top seven noticeably excluded Caesars, Horseshoe, MGM, and Venetian. Orleans came in at No. 3 even though he referred to the room as "damp" (we think he meant dingy).
His top criteria was overall quality of games, not decor.
Oooops ... criterion.
I have dealt O8. Hand reading is easy. If you don't play it is not as easy, but seriously....All you need to do is practice a bit at home and you will get it. If you struggle to read O8 boards, you only have your own lack of preparation to blame.
cool bro
comment for the algorithm
To for the wage they pay you they should let youl work as much as you want, besta luck dude you’d prob be killing it if ya just deal for a year str8 not play learn.
They're not thrilled about OT and when the mtt's die down, there's not a ton of games going.
Almost stripper money 🤑
We can dream.
Looks like your gonna clear 25k plus
That'd be nice.
@@VegasPokerNomad In what period of time?
@@JohnSmith-su3ze The series at The Orleans is 50 days.
@@VegasPokerNomad You made 25k from dealing at The Orleans in 50 days? Really?
@@JohnSmith-su3ze The 50 days are not over. And I said it would be nice. I didn't say it's a guarantee.
Nomad, I want you to succeed and as an outsider I see it from another p.o.v. that's detached from the situation. I think your a champion type person by how you recall mpb stats is genius. I left a nasty comment because I was stressed out and took it out on you, not fully but it m sorry. I might get f been to emotionally attached to the vlog because I'm broke. But, what I think if you want to, your actually in a place of power because people don't know if you'd be a successful 2/5 player. So, just saying "if" your thinking macro, than from the bigger perspective it's a great position to take the Vlog to 2/5 than 5/10. You could succeed at a great level on TH-cam "if" you want to by playing larger as you'd be a "stunner". I personally know you can beat 2/5 but you just gotta go into it with my suggestion of making the channel more popular. I think that would for you individually help you psychologically when playing his gher stakes. Take care and sorry for nasty comment from few videos back. 😊
Dealers should never be distracted. They should ignore all players comments and focus solely on the game.
As a redhead, do you find LV too hot? We're more sensitive to heat. Makes me wonder if the climate-change story arc is just for us ;
My hair isn't red.
Hmm. Color contrast must be offset, it makes your beard look red.
