I like table talk. HOWEVER- I'm surprised that it isn't generally considered bad etiquette to speak directly to a player while it's their turn to act. Talk all you want when it's on you, but when a player needs this moment to think, initiating dialog or asking them questions seems unsportsmanlike, and also slows down the game by forcing the active player to reset their thought process. Eric Person does this too. If this became the new meta, everyone would have to escalate by wearing noise-cancelling headphones. Thoughts?
I personally like to hear players so no headphones for me, but I feel ya. In a case with someone like him at my table, as he rambles on and on trying to get in my head, I will turn to the player next to me and say something like "Did the 49ers win today? Anyone know the final?" Just showing I am paying no heed to them. I also usually stick with my reads, so no amount of BS will change my action. If I had felt my tens were good throughout, the 5 river and big speech would only get a quick call from me. Am I wrong often? Of course, but long tanks are ridiculous in my book. I am either trying to talk myself into a call or a fold, against my gut, and you can only go over so many scenarios so I hate loooooong tanks.
