Nice! Personally I use the Tomtoc sling bag for the Steam deck. It works even better with the ROG Ally.
I also bought a sling bag from temu (I bought 3 cases in total) however I found I just couldn't hold everything in there. It is a great option though if you want to carry your ally, a battery bank and charger!
I prepped similarly for a couple of weeks of work related heavy flying. Ended up not even using my battery banks (i carried 2) since i noticed there was a power socket in the first, so i just plugged (with the powerbrick into the powersocket, not the usb chargers since they are too low current). So basically i just ended up playing 1080p turbo mode always. All the planes i took ended up having power sockets (though in some it was a hidden under a cloth in the seat infront or under the seat). But i guess some airlines in some parts of the world have older planes where they might not work.
At this rate battery life is going to become a non issue for air travel which is awesome since it allows the ally to really shine over other handhelds.
Headphone wise i bought Sony MX4 for 3 reasons. Maximum noise cancelling from comparables, freaking 30 hrs battery life so never having to plugin but mostly because it supports pairing to 2 devices, so i had it linked with both the phone and the ally. This means i didnt have to go through the hassle of pairing-unpairing when I swapped from phone music, podcasts (which i prefer for takeoffs/landing for maximum distraction) or playing with the ally. Simultaneous Bluetooth pairing ended up being an amazing QoL feature.

I have only ever been on smaller planes/jets. Nothing "massive" or international travel worthy. I'm sure the long haul planes are more well equipped.
It has only been an issue on some planes (made in the 80's) with it not having some sort of, reliable, power option.
But, I always seem to notice at least once person's screen on a flight is not working and on the flight back there was a gentleman's charger outlet that didn't work in front of me.

I am literally flying out tomorrrow and was planning my electronics for the trip including the Ally, and cameras. with a 5 hour flight each way. This was a timely video. What case do you have on the ally with the kickstand? I have been looking at different options. Question about that dock, does the ally support 4k 120? I have been debating on whether or not upgrading to HDMI 2.1 was worth it in a dock, or going for a 10gbps USB dock . I havent found one with both USB 3.2 and HDMI 2.1 in an affordable unit.
The dock does indeed support 4k120, for a reasonable price. I feel. The case I wont bother linking, I got it off of Aliexpress. You can find similar or the exact same just by searching ROG Ally Case. I think I paid about 7 dollars for it. ETA Prime did a video on the case as well, I think he paid like 20-30 off Amazon.
How’s your switch lite? Which do you prefer, rog or Switch Lite. I grew up with DS and Xbox. I like XBox for FH4/5 and DS I liked Mario but that’s about it.
Thinking of getting a rog in Japan. Do you think it would be Reigon locked ?

I plan on getting the Lenovo Legion Go but your video is still very helpful. I have a cousin that owns the Steam Deck that travels a lot I will share this video with him. I have some questions though. Did none of the planes you flew on had wifi? It seemed odd to me. I fly on different American airlines and they all have wifi. If you did was the wifi good enough to do online multiplayer on? Were you able to use your phone as a mobile hotspot to game online or at least log in to your Steam account? Did you ever come across any seat outlets on the planes you were on? I read that most planes power outlets are 75watts max. ETA Prime showed that ROG can go up to 53w TDP when in docked. Is it possible to do that on a plane outlet or with a power bank?

The planes do have wifi, however I had no desire to use the wifi as it is typically tiered pricing. With the fastest being the most expensive.
You won't be able to hotspot on your phone I wouldn't think. I don't think you can pass through a wifi signal via hotspot.
As for the seats. The two planes I was one (Air Canada - Airbus a700 (I think) & West Jet - Boeing 737-700)
They both had 110v outlets that supplied enough for a turbo charge.
However I have found these to be unreliable both in terms of them working and being available.
I have also had multiple times, when plugging in my phone charger. The charger would just drop right out and not be retained by the outlet.
I would have to keep my hand or knee pressed up against it to hold it in.
So I would always come prepared. Never expect the plane to have anything, or all of it working
@@WinDeckTech I feel dumb I just realized I've been flying on airlines that give free wifi even if you're standard/economy tickets for all my trips so it never occurred to me that you have to pay for others.
Anyway I think the Steam login can be avoided by just logging in before you have to board by using the airport wifi or mobile hotspot. Or just setting your Steam to offline mode before you close it. I find it weird though I've been able to get into my Steam account before without setting it to offline mode if I open it/turn on my PC with no internet.
You're right about the outlets being loose and not working sometimes. Definitely come prepared but if the outlet works it must be nice to be able to game the entire flight at full power.
What other games did play on the plane? Did you have any trouble playing games offline ?
I had another trip recently and I played Horizon Zero Dawn, Jusant, and RoboCop. The main issue with playing offline is you have to ensure, typically, that you launch the game at least once while connected to the internet. After that you are good to go. I encountered this when wanting to play COD WAW, I hadn't launched it online so I could not start it offline.
Beyond that, I would say that you should also ensure that you connect your device to the internet as soon as you can, so cloud saves can sync. As well, for Xbox game pass, on the windows xbox app there is a setting to tick off that allows you to launch games on that pc offline. You can only change this every so often though. I believe I have changed it twice in less than a year and I don't think I am able to do it again for another year now. Typically it would never be a problem for the average user, but in my case because of the multitude of handhelds I switch often.
Some airports confiscate a big power bank. Some allowed 10000 - 20000mah max.
Always best to double check before hand! I think these are okay for most flights and locations but some places may have more restrictions!
Did you try connecting to plane WiFi?
I did not, mainly because I'm cheap. I know others have and it works with no issue. I don't know if I'd play competitively on it but people have played things like Diablo 4 on plane WiFi
