Awesome video. I have a pretty huge collection of Thursday Boots and I also have a Huge collection of Red Wings and My Thursday Diplomats in Harvest color are Super Awesome and very comfortable. My favorite feature is how slim they look in comparison to all the other Moc-Toes out there. You will not be Disappointed. As you may have already heard Thursday Boots 🥾 are great boots because you gat A LOT of boot for what you pay.
These really impressed me. My danner moc toe are my usual go to for casual wear but the Thursday may be a second pair I'll wait for the Whites on Sunday and see which one I decide to go with. Also if you could, mention how the sizing is if true to size. Thanks!
I just bought these a week ago. They fit similarly to my other Thursdays, (slightly shorter and rounder toe box), which is close to your Brannock length. I am a 12.6 or so on the Brannock and found I needed a 13 in the Thursdays to get enough room for my big toe. (12.5 was close, but got a little toe rub). What Weston touches on perfectly is how great the arch support feels right a way. I wish my other Thursdays had this additional rise in the arch because you feel planted and comfortable. To compare, I wear a 12 in the Red Wing moc toe last and a 14 in Nike/Puma, so I'm a size up from Red Wing and a full size down from my old school sneaker size.
@Billy Jane The important thing is to have a frame of reference. Every brand fits differently and sneakers fit differently than dress shoes or work boots. Since "true to size" is relatively meaningless, I use the Brannock device size as a reference. I measure as about 12.6 on the Brannock device. Most of my sneakers are size 14, but I wear a 13 in most shoes and boots. The Thursday 13s fit me with enough toe room. I could probably squeeze down to a 12.5 with thin dress socks, but I prefer thicker wool socks with boots, especially in the winter. Short story: I went down ONE full size compared to my sneakers, but I'd stick with your Brannock device size for Thursday boots. Sneakers are not a good reference point as not all Adidas/Nike/Puma fit the same, either. Get measured on a Brannock device in a shoe store for sure...
The Sorel 1964 or Caribou are both all-time classics and considered standard winter gear here in Canada, would absolutely love to see those cut open. They make a ducktoe too if you're specifically looking to compare to LL Bean.
Would love to know about sizing... Cause most of us will probably be ordering boots online and I personally am sometimes hesitant when there are different reviews on their website about sizing. Thanks again. Great review 👍✌️
Ooooo I like... the hubs would Love these. He has the redwings. He certainly needs the arch support. Haha. I have what’s called a fallen arch. Flatter than flat can be. Excellent balance. And shoes with an arch kill me. My husband, has a super high arch. And his Red Wings can fatigue his feet. I can’t wait to send these to him. You seriously do a service to boot companies by reviewing their boots like this. Bravo great review. I’m always on the hunt for new footwear for the hubs. Have a wonderful day y’all.
I really like my Thursday Diplomats in the Adobe leather. I actually do light work in my Diplomats and other then the soles wearing quickly, mine are holding together very well. I'm thinking about a resole in a rigid vibram sole. Really like your videos!
@Billy Jane Hello! I went down a half size. I'm a 10 in sneakers and in all of my Thursday boots, including the Diplomats, I'm a 9.5. Also for reference, I'm a slight E in width. Hope that helps
I like how Thursday's is always evolving their products! If you had a bad pair a few years ago you would probably be surprised with a new pair! I am pleasantly surprised with the guts of these boots. I'm in the market for a motorcycle boot that will absorb a lot of the vibration. Nicks makes one but I wonder if they will absorb vibration that much better since Thursday's uses the same outsole. Can't wait to see you crack White's open and see if they are worthy meet in the middle type of boot. As far as winter boots go, you could probably do a whole series just on LL Bean with all their different Bean boots with and without different levels of insulation.
When it comes to a pair for riding, my bets would be on something like the Thorogood personally. The poron layer they have in most of their stuff as well as the insoles should do a better job of shock absorption than natural materials. You can get taller models as well iirc. This is just speculation though cause I've personally never owned their moc-toes, only a pair of one of their other models. Depending on how bad the windchill is in your area though, them being unlined might be an issue. Thick socks I guess?
Just bought some last week and I couldn't be happier with them. I held off because I couldn't figure out the styling, but they look even better in person. They are sort of like Red Wing moc toe design with the Alden Indy front and more comfortable than either of those boots.
@@helloitsjerald I never liked the giant toe box on the Red Wing moc toes, though they are good boots. I got the "black matte," which actually has a little hint of shine to it, despite the name. At least this way I can use any leather smooth conditioner to keep them in shape. I have 3 other Thursday boots, none of them in black leather, so it's more for variety. I agree with you that a rough suede like the "Sandlewood" Presidents would look good on this boot. Maybe next year? Anyway, the nice arch support and the extra cushion in the outsoles was a really nice surprise. My Captains and Dukes feel a lot firmer in comparison. thursdayboots.com/products/mens-diplomat-boot-black-matte?collection=mens-boots-rugged
@@DMorgan77 My other Thursday boots (Duke and Captain) and my other boots from other companies have a seam up the middle in the liner on the back, but the heel cup (counter) is visible from the inside rather than under the lining as Weston notes in the video. I'm not thinking that's going to be an issue as I haven't heard anyone complaining about this lining coming loose, but time will tell. For the rice point, I'm certainly willing to give it a try as they are quite comfortable.
I just got the copper ones last week. They really do feel great and look nice. I’ve been getting loads of compliments on them. They were a bit stiff in the first couple of uses but they break in almost instantly.
@@hellothere921 Usual size, I was nervous about it at first since it said to get a half a size down. I did their little size finder quiz they have on the website. When I got them there was a little slip in the heel but I guess that heat activated heel really works cause they fit perfectly now.
Just returned a pair of these today. But not because they are bad. They are beautiful. I just didn’t want the darker Arizona color since I am getting it on the Captains. Will get the copper or Heritage. Love, love, love my Thursday Olive Suede Captains. Probably the best looking boot I’ve ever seen.
for a change of pace from all the relevant comments, I'm gonna praise the sponsorship bit. I was truly JUST thinking yesterday about how nasty protein snacks are, but otherwise they'd be so useful. they were always fooling me too, like, "look, I'm a delicious protein brownie. oh, I'm just like a candy bar." but then it's TERRIBLE. but multiple ppl in the shop bought in on the taste of a built bar and helped eat the box??!! will definitely try
I have an older pair of Diplomats that have the regular studded sole instead of a wedge sole and they are my favorite boots to wear. The moc toe is a little less swelled that the the one you have and the leather is the Natural color Horween CXL. I've had them maybe 3 or 4 years and I can't say enough good stuff about them. I love all 4 pair of Thursday boots that I own, but I like my Diplomats the best.
Into my second week of wearing the Diplomats (Black) and I can honestly say they feel great. I wasn’t sure to begin with if these were going to be a good investment or if I should just pony up and get the more expensive and now elusive RedWing 8849 in black prairie leather. But I’m glad I went with the Thursdays. They are great value and if price is of a concern they are a great option. I do agree about the lining however. I’d have preferred a just a thicker piece of leather tbh.
I found my Claude again. I keep losing it around the house, but i love it. Nice job on the built bar segment. Gottsta pay the bills. Can't wait to see the Bean boots. My Maine hunting shoes are 30 year's old, but fresh from rhe resoler on freeport.
My Pajar boots are intensely WINTER, but they're amazing. Kept me warm when Iceland decided to have its coldest week on record the last time I was visiting, which is really saying something.
I own a pair of these boots. I think they're great. They're comfortable, sleek, and stylish. They are not bulky at all and go with my style. I was skeptical at first about the look of the boot, but I'm glad I gave them a chance. Stumbled on this channel a month ago and I have been enjoying the content, keep up the good work.
I think these are the first ones I’ve seen that I’d maybe consider over the redwings. I own a couple Thursday boots and I do like the slimmer, dressier style. I think in this case I’d still go with the redwings just because it’s easier to find them at physical locations. This is a pretty strong contender.
Biggest gripe of the insole and liner of the Thursday’s, my foot slips all over the place no matter how tight I tie them. This causes hot spots on my foot and blisters on my heel. Returned mine.
I have the diplomats on Arizona adobe color, they are the only mic toes that I wear a blazer jacket with, I’m gonna try other colors, it seems that in some other colors the leather has a less oily finish. I like a lot the fit, I have a wide toes, high arch, but regular ankles, they fit me better than red wings, truly enjoy this boots, I bought them because of your video, your channel is so helpful, thank you so much.
Dont worry, sponsorships are there to allow the channel to actually earn money instead of wasting your time👍💪 BTW, love the vids, keep it up, rlly enjoying the comprehensive reviews❤️❤️
Great info on the Thursday's and I'm really looking forward to the White's Perry next week... I know it's kind of late to get into the Moctober lineup but maybe I'm the future you can look at the Golden Fox 6" Heritage 1970 Moc Toe... It's a USA made wedge boot with a leather Goodyear welt at the same price point as the Thursday's. I don't know much more but as they are made in the USA I would really like to see a video about them.
Mine came today in the mail. First off beautiful dark brown. Impressed by thick leather compared to similar looking Danner Bull Run. Wish tongue gusset came up a little higher. Too pretty for work, will wear casually when off work. I purchased size 12 1/2 , similar to Wolverine size 12 which is my normal size. I'm satisfied and recommend them.
I wasnt sold on Thursday boots but i really like those. Id say cut some eastland moc boots since they are so common, but cutting them in half would somehow improve them
Wow! Great review and Thanks for making these videos! I recently came into the market for a couple pairs of boots and stumbled upon your videos and I am certainly glad I did since your reviews and analysis are exactly what I am I wanting in a review! I've been waiting for the Thursdays review since the start of Moctober. Now that I've seen it, it sounds like the Thursdays are a good option if I want a Moc-Toe that won't need to handle a lot of work other than in an office or just want a really well built fashionable moc-toe look. I never heard of the Whites, so I am interested to see your review before I pull the trigger. It would be great to see a cut-up of some of the Army's and Marine Corps boots (Bellville, Danner, Bates and whoever else is currently making Army and Marine boots) so that both Soldiers and Marines know what are the ones to stay away from. I can imagine a lot of people would send in various pairs for that type of review! Keep up your great work and I'll keep supporting and recommending your channel!
They look really nice and for the price point....awesome.I think I’ll spend the extra $80 or so for the red wings. Work and play makes for a happy day! Great review.
You seem pretty happy with the entire lineup of Thursday boots. I've had a pair for 4 years, they've been treated like shit and are still going strong. Mostly used for riding my motorcycle here in Vietnam and dealing with the wet weather my captian boots have yet to fail
That's what I thought too! I'm surprised he didn't take note of that other than to mention it was a unique way to fasten it. I would be concerned about how that would eventually wear through the leather and onto your foot!
Most high quality boots that aren’t 360 good year welted have a bunch of nails in the sole pointing towards to foot but people rarely have issues with it so I wasn’t too concerned. If you want to see a crazy one check out my nicks builder pro video it’s called something like “why are 80+ nails in this boot”
First off love the series for moc toes! Second you hit the nail on the head! I have the older version of this boot (the diplomat) when they made it look like alden’s Indy, and the problem I had was the center seam blowing out! Now 35$ from a local cobbler later I had it fixed. But let me tell you, I’ve put that boot through some good paces and it’s still kicking! And the customer service they offer is top notch. (This was about 2.5 years ago).

Just got my first pair of the Diplomats in Harvest. Such a comfortable boot. I love it.
The Sorel 1964 or Caribou are both all-time classics and considered standard winter gear here in Canada, would absolutely love to see those cut open. They make a ducktoe too if you're specifically looking to compare to LL Bean.
I'm stoked about whites boot!! Can't wait!!!!
Would love to know about sizing... Cause most of us will probably be ordering boots online and I personally am sometimes hesitant when there are different reviews on their website about sizing.
Thanks again. Great review 👍✌️
especially since every boot company sizes differently
Ooooo I like... the hubs would
Love these.
I was on the fence on to whether or not to buy the casual Thursday Boots. Thank you for helping me in making my decision
Just ordered some bars. Legit appreciate what you’re doing by showing where value and quality are in these shoes. Plus I’m hungry.
YES to a winter boot series! Make sure they're actually appropriate for at least -30C and snow.
Timing is impeccable lol. I was looking into the Diplomat this morning haha
Just bought some last week and I couldn't be happier with them. I held off because I couldn't figure out the styling, but they look even better in person. They are sort of like Red Wing moc toe design with the Alden Indy front and more comfortable than either of those boots.
@@BradleyHansonPhotography yeah the sleeker toe is what caught my attention. Which color did you get? I wish there was a rough out version
@@BradleyHansonPhotography are your Captain's sewed in the heel the way these are? Thanks.
I just purchased my fourth pair of Thursday Boots all in different colors. Quality and stylish boots.
@Billy Jane I recommend going down to what they suggest
I have the original brown diplomats, no wedge sole and I love it
I just got the copper ones last week. They really do feel great and look nice. I’ve been getting loads of compliments on them.
They were a bit stiff in the first couple of uses but they break in almost instantly.
Did you go your normal size?
@@hellothere921 Usual size, I was nervous about it at first since it said to get a half a size down. I did their little size finder quiz they have on the website. When I got them there was a little slip in the heel but I guess that heat activated heel really works cause they fit perfectly now.
Due to your video I ordered this boot. Will arrive this coming Wednesday.
I’ve always been a huge boot nerd and I can’t get enough of these videos. Thanks man 👍
Honestly I might get these instead of the Redwings, the Redwings are a bit "bold and brash" and is quite the investment.
I love Muck Boots for winter/work. Pretty simple boot.
for a change of pace from all the relevant comments, I'm gonna praise the sponsorship bit.
You'll definitely have to do a Sorrell boot for the winter series. I've owned a pair for many years and they've been great.
I'm hopefully going to be stomping around in my Nicks Urban Loggers for winter.
My go to winter boots are a pair of redwing 8" loggers. Add a felt insole above the leather insole and you are good to go in any weather condition.
I own a pair of the thursday diplomats and they are great. Really comfy and they are good for work and play.
@Billy Jane i went true to size and I'm happy with them
Muck boots are a good winter boot to consider!
You should cut your sponsor's products in half. That would be fun also
Into my second week of wearing the Diplomats (Black) and I can honestly say they feel great.
Great review. I just ordered a pair of Diplomats.
I found my Claude again. I keep losing it around the house, but i love it. Nice job on the built bar segment. Gottsta pay the bills. Can't wait to see the Bean boots. My Maine hunting shoes are 30 year's old, but fresh from rhe resoler on freeport.
Can you make more Thursdays videos. I'm thinking of buying the captain boots. Thank you for your informative videos
I size down the half size as recommended by Thursday. I find it works for me. I wear a size 12 but for Thursday I wear 11.5 They fit like a glove.
No worries, hope you find that perfect pair.
Boots need finger loops at the back. One of the first things I look for.
Loving the series :)
This episode led me to purchase my own pair of diplomats. I was hard set on getting some Red Wings but was on the fence until I saw this.
I think these are the first ones I’ve seen that I’d maybe consider over the redwings. I own a couple Thursday boots and I do like the slimmer, dressier style. I think in this case I’d still go with the redwings just because it’s easier to find them at physical locations. This is a pretty strong contender.
Manitobah Mukluks for winter those things are the best boots I’ve ever owned and they’re First-Nation owned!
Dont worry, sponsorships are there to allow the channel to actually earn money instead of wasting your time👍💪
BTW, love the vids, keep it up, rlly enjoying the comprehensive reviews❤️❤️
Thank you for adding the heel height measurement. It’s really useful knowing roughly how much height you’d get from the shoes
I would love to see a winter hunting boot series. Insulated Danner's versus Elk Trackers, Thorogoods, Kenetreks, etc
Id say cut some eastland moc boots since they are so common, but cutting them in half would somehow improve them
Please do a hiking series starting with the classic, Danner Mountain Light. I’m pretty sure when you think of brown boots with red laces, it’s them.
I like those Thursday’s, but I actually wish they had more of that tall “clown” toe like the red wings do.
Timberlands spruce mountain boots would be pretty cool
They look really nice and for the price point....awesome.I think I’ll spend the extra $80 or so for the red wings. Work and play makes for a happy day! Great review.
You seem pretty happy with the entire lineup of Thursday boots. I've had a pair for 4 years, they've been treated like shit and are still going strong. Mostly used for riding my motorcycle here in Vietnam and dealing with the wet weather my captian boots have yet to fail
Very informational. I appreciate that. Good video as always.
Lol the timing of this was awesome. I was just looking for this review on your page last night.
Thanks for this!!! Will try to order some Thursday Boots...
Definitely Top 5 winter boots!!
That hooked shank looks scary the way it points straight at your foot. Great review thanks for the video!
Really good question though!
@@RoseAnvil Weston - thanks for the follow-up! I didn't consider that thought! Cheers!
@Raguvian I was thinking the same thing
Since the Thursdays are so slim they give me alden 405 vibes
My favorite winter boot of all time is the Steger Mukluks Arctic. It’s a super unique boot and I would love to see you cut it open.
Could you do Thursday women’s black Chelsea boot? I swear it’s not the same quality.... there are already square indent on the heal pad liner and I got it in January... also do a Frye boot!!!
Now I think I'll buy a pair. I like that they look slimmer compared to the red wings. I stayed away from that originally because of that.
Just bought these for work lol maybe now I’ll just use them for a casual wear.
I own a pair of Thursday's Vanguard boots in the Burnt Copper and I absolutely love the leather. According to Thursday, they also say not use conditioners on the leather as it will darken it and take away that unique characteristic of the leather. We'll see how that holds up over time, but so far, with a few months of wear I do love the look and how it is wearing for a truly unique look with every pair of boots.
Just picked up Thursday diplomat great boot especially for the price of my other boots. Great vids
Really informative. Starting to upgrade my boots and these are really great.
Definitely want to see you look into the red Wing Sawmill as a winter boot!
Would love to see a series on CSA boots. We have a much smaller selection up here and most workplaces require green triangle at least
For the winter boots series, please do Thursday boots’s explorer.
I’m really excited to see White’s moc toe. I need a new pair of work boots soon so it’s either Whites or Redwing
It sounds if you said "this video was sponsored by Bill Barr" 😭😂
Ha ha I thought that too when I was editing
Ha. So glad it's not!
@@RoseAnvil now I have your attention, could you do a cut in half of Panama Jacks? I sell them at work, they are one of the more expensive and supposedly high quality boots we sell aside from premium Timbs
Sherries Berries
Bill burr
I have no idea about boots but I wanna buy some nice boots for the winter!!! Can’t wait till the series is finished as it’s already snowed!
