Not a fan of wedge soles. This makeup in the cinnamon suede with the lug sole is the only model from Thursday that has appealed to me. Missed the chance to pick up a pair for $150 when they did their warehouse sale earlier this year. Sizing was always a concern. The sizing guide on their website is terrible. No reference to something concrete like a Brannock measurement. I understand their target demographic is mostly sneaker people transitioning to boots but even then sneaker sizing is not consistent across brands. Your sizing advice is very helpful.
I have been WAITING to see these boots reviewed! I think they look awesome and will be buying the brown leather version as I think those will hold up to the elements a bit better. Thank you so much for reviewing these!
Gr8, thorough video. Thank you. I own the wedge sole diplomat and use them often for work. (Bus driver)There are only 2 colorways as of 11-2024. I'm a fan of these!! But.. The dedicated heel series has all but been abandoned. If thurs. Boot Co. had more options, like brandy, ash suede, color #8 for instance. I never use the top 2 eyelets when i lace up my boots. , that's just personal preference. Thank you sir. I think the dedicated heel diplomat would be a real hit! Thank you for your great content.
Love my Dieviers ( 7 pairs to date), Thursday (6 pairs) & my recently purchased Grant Stone. My Dieviers gets worn the most & second on my Thursdays. The new GS is definitely a step up reflecting the cost, built quality, material & a little classy. Overall all 3 are great.
Ah man, this is the exact pair that caught my eye, great choice. I think this may be a pair that need boot trees to help keep their shape. Great review!
I do like my Thursday boots - I have Presidents. I have heard Thursdays referred to as the Gateway Boots that start the addiction. Spot on. Always at a decent price point for what you get. Good review.
@@StrayReviews Mine, too. I don't regret buying them, but if I knew then what I know now, I would not have done so. I would have just spent the extra money to get Parkhursts.
I have these boots and love them. They’re the same price as my other Thursday Boots, but they feel a bit more premium. While the boots have storm welt, the oil snuff suede is not made from the same waterproof suede as other Thursday offerings. As a result, I wouldn’t wear these in the rain. Solid review otherwise….I came away with the same conclusions as you did.
And a big part, its perplexing why they havent gone to full leather midsoles. leather heel stacks, leather heel counters and got all the synthetics out. Thursday has their place, but they need to do more...
I hope Thursday releases these in their wide sizing soon, because I've been seeing these as an affordable alternative to something like an Alden, which is an expensae I'm having trouble justifying.
Agreed. It is confusing why they only have some leathers and styles in wide. It is the one thing that has pushed me to other brands. I love my Thursdays but when they say wide it really is not a wide to me. Lots of stretch spray and stretching makes them wearable but a pain to get there. The EEE is great but leaves a ton of volume in the ankle area. I do love the look of the new liners on these though. I have found the original black liners a little underwhelming and they tend to stain my socks with the black dye that bleeds
@@ReekIan I know that wide sizing is difficult to logistically manage, but men's feet are often quite wide, even if they don't know it. I am an 11 3E and Thursday's wide sizing works well for me once I break the shoes in. But waiting for them to release sizes has forced me to go more expensive routes, sadly.
Nice review , but I will expose these boots .On the outside it looks good but it's a reason why they able to keep the 200 price tag and it won't hold up over time because it has cork mid sole for comfort but once that gets to soft after awhile the boot falls apart , there's no leather board on the back of the heel which keeps your heel locked in , so with cork bed and no leather stack heel these boots after a year will fall apart and become to soft to wear as boits , just like johnston and murphy boots even thought I think johnston murphy is slightly better than quality of thursdays. So yes thursday is moving in right direction and the last thing is to really make these a manly boot is to put a shank and leather board and some good say veg tan leather on the back heel of the boots. Yes maybe they have to raise price to 300 and that would be fine. Advertisements keep saying they give more expensive boots run for there money , well no no no that's not true and they are still a half Mike away from truly competing .
I would definitely pay more for the features you mentioned. Years ago, Thursday had a line of premium boots that cost more. I think they called it Black Label. That would be sweet if they brought that back.
Great content as always! "Moc-Tober" is over and now I want a Moc Toe. LOL How do these fit compared to the OG Diplomats? I don't see a wide option, but really like having a lug sole for the fall/winter season. I've had a hell of a time with going true to size in sneakers(9.5) with my Diplomats. They are just too tight, going half size down is a no go for me 100%! I'm sending back my 2nd pair of Diplomats simply cause the sizing doesn't work for me. Keep the great content coming!
I like this. But with what the community wants. Idk why they didnt just go with full rough out. Its kinda confusing the things that Thursday is doing. They really need to slim down their offerings and then break out a second brand.
What do you think? Lug or Wedge sole?

All three great brands!
Great review. I have the original version with wedge sole, and this model is my favorite Thursday Boot, they punch way above their weight.
Indeed. The original Diplomat is one of my most worn boots.

@@StrayReviews hey Lee, why does nobody review Txture boots? It’d be great to see a real review from someone I trust

Just the video i was looking for. Would you recommend going with your Thursday Captain sizing on these? Or go half size up/down?
I took my normal Brannock size for these and I’m really happy with the fit.

Awesome review! Finally they put the lug sole on the diplomat. Question - would you go same size as your Captains?
That’s what works for me. In both cases I wear my true brannock size.

Not feasible under $200

Great looking boot! How tall is the heel? It looks taller than the average Thursdays
From the top of the heel stack to the tip of the lug is 1.5".
