Tim talks about how we self-sabotage not only while in crisis, but in recovery as well. When a person's baseline is a dark place, they default back into that place without active and intentional improvement.

Boarderline so thats extreme complex ptsd for abandonment wow I feel suddenly very validated I have target behaviours I must not do and that is shouting invalidating and pretending. I'm amazed that it's working. Building mastery has been a huge help too.

Thank you so much for being realistic as it is true and solid ground for me stand on in my life now. I’ve worked deeply for many years to recover from childhood complex trauma. I’m nearly 60 and I’m more well than I have ever been and I feel like I’ve woken up inside for the first time and I don’t live in a terrified state. But it’s hard. I had such a fluffy notion of healing before. Not now. My therapist is retiring and I do not have anyone else that knows me at my depths except her. It gets very lonely at times but it’s bearable and I know I am more well than ever before and I know my biography and myself and my parts in a way I never did before so I do have the authentic company of myself and I am more present and connect with nature and the spirit that flows through all things. Thanks for listening and take care and thank you so much for these videos as they help so much

Your 'friends' not wanting you to be sober is very real. If you get better they have to look at themselves. They want an user buddy not a sober friend.

I've been listening for a few weeks to several of your series...Thank You for making them available on the web. In fact, most of what you say really resonates deeply. I'm a complex trauma person, proactively engaging in inner healing for 21+years with multiple holistic modalities; my self-soothing/balancing behaviors have become those that heal also. If I may share my experience... The "enemy/ battle/ fight within" analogy is counter-productive = anything we fight or oppose has greater potential get the better of us more easily than if we befriend & turn those parts into allies, then re-train & re-assign them & integrate them into a powerful team to work for us instead of against us. To that end, I'd like to suggest you look at & consider teaching the concept of inner family (instead of "inner misfits") - a very concise example can be found freely available at www.sfhelp.org - this is an extensively dense course, but you can understand the approach clearly by reading through the first part, including Premise, Intro, & all 8 of the chapter outlines. Definitely for the serious student, it teaches inner harmony = figuring out what to do about those inner wounded children, their Guardians, & Managers & how to as well; emofree.com (full tutorials) has guided me most efficiently & effectively in that direction. This has enabled & empowered me to create the most balance I've ever known. Your information is enlightening to an extreme degree - I see my former self in your talks; some areas are still more or less unresolved, and I know my applications are working there too as long as I continue - healing complex trauma is a metaphysical & holistic challenge. Please keep teaching, as I recognize you for your keen insight & articulate delivery; you show extraordinary insight & empathy and that in itself is deeply healing. Blessings On Your House & All Your Good Works.

When I discovered Peter Gerlach and inner family system it helped when I was learning about narcissistic families. I went no contact and would wake up in the middle of the night weeping. When this happened I told myself this is a part of me waking up to the trauma and I would soothe that part. I also found Lisa A Ramona on youtube very helpful. She shares how we have been programmed from our abusers to feel we aren't worthy and took on the abusers shame. I also find this channel helpful, knowing it is a journey, not an over night fix.

It's like Plato's Chariot. The chariot driver being the adult self and the horses are the forces trying to pull you astray and you have to keep them on track.

Pastor Tim, first thank you so much. I would like to know if you offer counseling on the phone? I have set aside money for therapy as I don't have insurance. I would like Christian counseling and have learned so much from your content.

I really appreciate u r work Tim, but these r not ppl, they r spirits...Satan’s biggest deception is that he’s not real, he wants us to think his thoughts r our thoughts. When God says we do not have a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind, he means just that...fear is a spirit, love is a spirit, heaviness is a spirit, etc. Addiction involves warfare, we are at war, not against ourselves but against the enemy.

Yeah, god and the devil are one and the same. Any god who allows the torture some of us experienced as innocent little children, baby’s starved and beaten, or the countless abuses perpetrated onto the innocent every second of every day is not a “kind” or “loving” being. Not even remotely.
