Borderless window is better NOW because windows has gotten really efficient with background task handling. Back in the day with xp and vista, windows would lag the hell out because it was trying to give equal priority rendering every window. Fullscreen disabled other programs from entering the render queue.
@@therealmarce440 I instantly took to it. I found it much more intuitive than toggling aim mode. I would always find myself in the wrong mode at the wrong time, and I didn't like the default key (middle mouse?).
I also recommend PRESS to sprint and PRESS to open stratagems, rather than holding down the key. Arrow keys took me a while to get used to but they're so much better.
I think this game is greatly enhanced by the music. I have no issues hearing the bits or bugs around. Biggest complaint for me is that the ambient bug sounds make me think I just stumbled into a POI or a patrol regularly
I tried most of those changes at start. I however ended up going back to default for most of the settings for the extra immersion. Even 55 fov. Sweating in a PvE immersion game has aged out of me. Just added this so people would understand that these might affect their immersion.
You should turn compass ordinal directions on, it will show N S E W and in between on the compass then. I don’t know why this isn’t default makes team coms much easier.
Its very good to have switch weapon on pick up "NO", has helped me alot. Depending on what you are doing and what support weapons you are using both option serve their purpose. And dynamic aim mode is amazing. I use ot all the time now and ive never accidently went into the wrong view. It is way better than pressing a sepperate button to go first person
Stratagem menu was default on left Alt. I kept it there, but changed to press (it's absurd they have it on hold). I put the strat inputs on arrow keys, so I can keep moving while I input, just have to briefly move my hand from the mouse. Then I changed dive to spacebar, melee to V, stims to F, and climb to C. Such a huge QoL upgrade IMO. Dive on spacebar feels waaay more natural during a chaotic battle. Same with stims on F key. And yeah, the Depth of Field and Motion Blurring in this game isn't good. I usually keep DoF on in games, but it's really bad here.
The stratagem menu was actually default on left Ctrl, and was set to hold, so you had to hold the strategem menu and put in your inputs (which was WASD by default).
@@negativez3ro I could've sworn is was on Alt, but either way. Yes, you change it to press instead of hold like I said. They obv didn't spend much time considering PC players cause the default controls are garbage. Not to mention WASD being both movement and stratagems. Bizarre choices.
I asked for it today in your last video, and here it is the setting video, perfect timing! Thanks a lot for the suggestions. Keep it up, great content!
I gotta warn against 90 fov in Helldivers for anyone not running ultrawide. Check it out yourself in game and see what works, but as you can even see in this video there is more fisheye than is usually accepted. It is an unusually hostile game to wider view angles. I'm on 85 myself, and I do have ultrawide. With most games I set to 100. However, the default 55 should be too low for everyone.
Yeah I agree. That high of a vertical FOV seems more suited for UW. For 16:9 the “correct” vertical FOV is 60 or something not too far above depending on how much distortion you can tolerate. Correct in quotes, it's a personal preference after all. It’s true that a maxed out FOV lets you see more but the game looks a bit too distorted on the sides for me at 16:9. ADS is a bit weird in that setting too, looks like you hold your gun 2 metres away from your face. Besides looking funny, makes it harder for me to aim. I’m a little sweaty myself too but I still can’t use maxed out FOV because it makes me uncomfortable (playing at 2560x1440). I might be jealous of the players that can tolerate the image looking like that, because I’m sure I could use the extra awareness of my surroundings. 😆
I got used to dynamic aim mode, to the point where ive forgotten how to switch aim modes while aiming. There's still sometimes where I accidentally ADS and its very disorienting but it gets rarer and rarer
This is out of date. I've seen you open a strategem and enter a long one while moving forward and turning at the same time. So not only were you moving but turning with the mouse in a gentle curve. That's nut and I watched this video to see how it was done. Anyway love the videos. Please put out an update on your key bindings or at least explain how you did that.
I want to play solo at times. With matchmaking set to friends only, I still get matched up with randoms. Anyone else experiencing this? I’m on PC. Thanks.
I know this might sound stupid but you said matchmaking so i wanna ask; are you queue'ing into quickplay or starting your own campaign after setting to friendsonly/private
1.Not sure if you click quick match or not, quick match mean joining the other rooms. You need host your game. 2.if you start your game, even with friend only, people in your friend list can join your game uninvited. At this moment there is no option to have only invite therefore You need to delete all your friends in the list, then u can solo no problem
@@semaht03 This is going to sound like a stupid question, but how do you host your own game? I see no option to do so. All I see are either games in progress, or players waiting for others to join, I am set to friends only.
@jeremymcbride my thumb buttons are grenade and switch to specialist weapon. Mouse wheel up is primary and down is secondary. Really helps not having to fumble with the number keys to switch weapons
He moves the same speed as everyone else, it's down to the FOV the further your FOV or grater the FOV number e.g 90 makes it seem like you're moving faster than someone with 55 FOV
No, stratagems key was not 4th mouse button by default, it's something weird like Z or X, impossible for my fingers in the heat of battle, I use 4th MB like you (but with arrows keys to keep running, you don't need it tho, as you are mindblowing fast with stratagems) My stims in 5th BM. Dive is space bar tap, I think this is a great QoL change. And for sprint I selected Shif but Tap, so I don't need to change my Steam settings to open the map. I use scrool wheel up and down to chose primary and secundary weapons, support weapon still on 3.
render scale is the crappy in-engine upscaler. if you're getting that many frames you may as well as turn it off by setting it to native.
For real, the moment I opened the game it looked so blurry on ultra quality. The upscaler is really bad.

Dynamic aim mode is the best setting. It frees up a button and works so smoothly.

sprint on thumb mouse button. strats to tap + on num pad. strat inputs 8456 on keypad.

I run with mb5 and w, it’s a bit finicky to setup as you need to go in the games config files.
There’s a Reddit post though.
I binded my stratagems to numlock 8456, its so good, mush better than on arrows
I just figured out the "disable camera shake" today. WHY DID THEY INCLUDE THIS? It makes first person aiming SO DIFFICULT
cause most people would feel it odd to be aiming down sights without any shake while an airstrike goes off 40 ft away. it makes it feel more real
Instead of changing steam settings for overlay pop-up, change sprint from hold to press, much easier
I recommend same for stratagem call button too.
