  • A recent visitor recently asked about two large features in our entrance hall which seem to have no real purpose.
    This video takes a look at what these were originally used for and and shares a little known fact about where you can still see see one of the treasures that used to be inside Wentworth Woodhouse.

    Hopefully one day both sculptures can be loaned to the home where they once belonged.

    What happened to the first statue? (Eagle Slayer)

      We don't know where the Eagle Slayer that was part of the Wentworth Woodhouse sculpture collection is today. The cast iron statue from the Great Exhibition on which it is based can be seen at the Bethnal Green museum in London. If anyone knows where the one that used to be at Wentworth Woodhouse is, we'd love to hear from you... and it's quite possible that the statue is in America.
