@@somedude386you can think puritanical karens like Mary Whitehouse for that. For those unaware, Whitehouse was essentially the UK Equivalent of Tipper Gore. She was a former teacher who pushed for censorship and regulation of media (including film, TV and music) She argued that if media wasn’t regulated and offensive content wasn’t censored, then younger generations would grow up to question authority or worse murder people because they saw something violent in a movie or on TV. She was behind the creation of the Video Nasties List and because of her actions, it led to the TMNT being heavily censored and re-edited in the UK. This is why Michelangelo stopped using his Nunchucks in season 4 of the cartoon, because Fred Wolf Films got tired of having to constantly edit out Michelangelo’s nunchucks or find excuses not to show him using them.
There was this really strange thing against ninjas by the government in the uk in the 1980's. Despite never being used in any crimes, just about all ninja weapons like shurikans, sickle and chains, blowpipes etc) were banned from sale and import by law. Any scenes in movies showing such weapons were heavily censored, including this beloved shows title having to be renamed and michaelangelos nunchuck scenes being taken out.

Obviously it was dumb they changed it, and should have just been left as it was.
But it's still part of my childhood and I love it!

Does the UK have something against ninjas or something?
They used to
Why
Ninja in Japanese means assassin.
Therefore since the whole ninja and Samurai craze was massive in the UK.
The media over there was afraid that kids might go around and pretend their little assassins and whatnot.

Blame James Firman and Margret Thatcher for this version of the Turtles.

How does the scene in the first episode where April accuses the turtles of being the robbers because they're ninjas play out in the UK version?
*shrugs* Grew up with this version. I prefer it.
I love the uk version but the US. Version is better

It's NINJA turtles! Not HERO turtles! 😠 (I'm aware why it was called Hero Turtles in the UK)
True. But they act in the show way more like heroes than they act like Ninjas.
