      General Discharge. Could you do a video for Marine Recon officers and Special Recon officers?

    • @Skywalkaaa
      @Skywalkaaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@garisonkillingsworth5232 I'll let the experts handle this, but for the time being I can offer what I know. I think that the way the Air Force special warfare officer career fields work is there's a general special warfare officer (SWO) classification for the selection phase and then from there SWO's move on to become either special tactics officers (STO) or combat rescue (CRO). If it's anything like it's been, SR probably falls under the command of STO's. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I'm just a cadet and I can only know what I've heard from older cadets and what I can find online. www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/2170844/air-force-creates-new-afsc-for-special-warfare-officers/

    I think Air Force SR is gonna attract a lot of Recon Marines. I left a comment on the Ones Ready channel about how many ST Airmen I’ve seen that were former Recon Marines and they replied saying “there was a big push in the 90s for jump and dive qualified guys to join AF Special Warfare.” I think SR might be the second push

Although today, the US Army has inactivated all its LRSU's replacing them with UAS (UAV/RPV) most of those soldiers have returned to infantry units. No, not sure if any assessed through RASP or SFAS? Excellent Info! An Air Force Forward Weatherman (as he described himself) and I became aquatinted at Fort Benning during Jump School. He taught me how to use ISO lines on weather maps to help me predict where the biggest surf was when I was in NC.
    I was lucky enough to go to RECON school as a non-infantry Marine. I was Motor-T and then became the Water Safety Survival Instructor in 2D ANGLICO. The billet came up and no one wanted it. So I jump on it. Got hurt. But it was fun while it lasted. Wouldn't have done anything with it as I had re-enlisted for the lofty life of a C-130 Navigator. Happens!
    All that to say this: If you go for it in Spec Ops of any kind, learn about how to take full advantage of the benefits you are due in case you get hurt. It took me too long to get up to speed with it. And there were some hard years. And, knowing you will be cared for gives you that extra little motivation to not worry what will happen to you if you mess up your knees & back, (for instance).

      @@USJTAC well BUD/S is only six months, but the SEAL pipeline is about 2 years. They have several other schools and SQT to go through. When you say that AFSOC unit training is 2 years, you are referring to the whole pipeline. The actual AFSOC operator course, and for lack of better words “BUD/s”equivalent, is 15.5 weeks(roughly 3.5 months). This is followed by other schools and their specialized skill set training in the pipeline. Both take around the same amount of time to earn their respective titles and assignment to their SO units.

      @USJTAC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Bravo-Too-Much Yes. That is very true. Most people only associate the first six months of BUD/S as the SEAL training.

      They are pulling candidates from the Airforce, so yeah. Marine recon pulls from Marines which are trained harder from the beginning. Its like if I pulled Varsity football players all from middle school kids instead of seasoned sophmores etc. Airforce PJ course is hard, but if you ran nothing but Marines or Seal candidates through it they would have a higher passing rate. Seal candidates don’t just pass their respective physical tests but exceed them and them some. So seals are the best of the best candidates and have a lot of training by Seal mentors. This is not saying that PJ course is not hard, but you have to put it in perspective.

    Each military services has different mission sets and thus needs specialized battle space information and surveillance needed to pick targets and or alter or prep battle space or anticipate enemy moves. Members of each service are usually best trained and equipped and familiar with their own services weapon systems. Airmen for Air Force, Soldiers for Army, Sailors for Navy, Marines for Marines even Coasties for Coast Guard.

      @@joc1845 between SF and MARSOC? Not much, both focus on FID and UW. The main difference is that SF is focused on the Army’s mission and MARSOC is focused on the Marines mission. Now between MARSOC and Rangers? That’s a massive difference. Rangers are JSOC premier DA raid force. Their main mission is to go kill/capture HVTs and rarely do FID, if ever.

    I hear that MARSOC's special focus on Special Reconnaissance is what makes them stand out from SF and SEALs, even though they have those capabilities (Much like MARSOC and SF combat Divers have amphibious warfare capabilities, but SEALs take it to the next level and how MARSOC and SEALS have UW capabilities, but GB take it to a higher level) so I was wondering how MARSOC's Special Reconnaissance capabilities compare to USAF Special Recon. Would you mind making a video about that?

    I have a question about the SR pipeline. Does each schoolhouse reside in a dif. location or are there multiple schoolhouses within a base (airborne, free fall), and, Is that last 18 months of training (apprentice & advanced) in a static location such as on a particular base or do the training location(s) vary? I’m trying to figure out possible housing scenarios w or w/o my family. One of the last things left for me to plan on before enlisting. Thanks GD!
