  • So, I decided to build a Yagi for 2m SOTA (Summits on the Air) activations. This portable 6 element Yagi weighs just 1.5kg and sets up in just 94 seconds. In testing, I got 200 KM to the south cost in flat conditions, with just 5w. I can't wait to take this to higher ground.

I’ve come to realise for many our hobby is really “amateur antenna” given the odd things lying around my shed! Great video, 73

I take it the other half was at Tescos! When you started sawing conduit I did wonder.

Well done Ben - it would be helpful if you told us a bit more about the dimensions of the antenna to help with copying your build.

Nice video Ben. Good contact with Mike G3SED, owner of Nevada Radio....
Be interested to know the dimensions used for your antenna.

Nice build. It might be nice if I will be able to source the material to build this in the US. Thank you for the video. 73, de kb6nqw.

Thanks for the interest. I think the USA will have all these things. Aluminium rods that are 5mm will be easy to get. The rest is common hardware store things. I hope you get to build one. If you want to see more of my videos, please subscribe. Happy Thanksgiving for last Thursday. 73
