    Another great video Ben, many thanks for answering the questions a lot of people will have about this hobby. A very similar set up to me with FT817 and associated tuner. I was very interested to see the Sotabeams mast and antenna, I will certainly have a look at those. I've also been considering a battery for use with the FT817, I've got the replacement Wincamp internal one but an external one which has the capacity required and is still light enough to carry would be very useful.

      Hi David. Thanks so much for watching and for your encouraging comments. I'm a fan of Sota Beams, they seem good quality and fairly priced. If you haven't already done, please feel free to subscribe to my TH-cam channel if you want to see more of my videos. 73s

      @@RadioRevG5REV I've subscribed to your channel Ben, added you to a growing list of UK amateur radio channels that I very much enjoy watching. Sotabeams are sold out of many of their products at the moment, they must be very popular!

    Instant like for using a FT-817. From another QRP operator to another -> less power to you.

    How do you hike a SOTA summit with a metal briefcase? I wasn’t able to find 2E0BMT on sotl.as

    • @RadioRevG5REV
      @RadioRevG5REV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, it fits into my pack without any issues. I haven't done any SOTA since I got my new call sign due to the lockdown. I was only licenced in May, so I have spent a lot of time indoors! I did do 3 activations with my old callsign, M7BMT, so that should show up. Hope that helps. 73

    I there, great video. I am new to this game. On the process of studying for my foundation exam.
    I really like your setup, it looks small and light. I know the foundation limits you to a certain power and off the shelf antennas. Could I use a setup similar to yours with a foundation licence?
    Thanks for sharing.

      Foundation doesn’t limit your choice of antennas. How did you get on with the exam?
