  • Here is my idiots guide to building an Allstar Node - Part Six.
In this video I finish the build, and test the node, amending the audio settings.
The resistor to the red LED is 330 Ohms
The resistor to the blue LED is 1K Ohms
The resistor to the green LED is 4.7K Ohms

KG4PLE here.. just setup my node.. and for some reason I can not get my HT to key the node and xmit... any troubleshooting advice?

Have a look in the settings. My guess is that your COS is keyed, and needs inverting...

Great videos Ben and Thank you for your effort. How about creating another video of making two Allstar node connected to a single raspberry pi?

Many thanks for the series. I've built my node using your guide and really enjoying it. I always thought that stuff like this wasn't "real radio" but it's been an excellent radio project. One thing I should mention is that I had to enable ctcss in the simple-usb settings which wasn't in your guide but to be honest it didn't matter because troubleshooting is half the fun. My node number is 54051. Cheers! VK6OP.

Brilliant videos. Thanks. Would you consider doing a video dedicated to only the software and some of the features (like changing audio levels etc) I would really like to know if there is a way to have my node automatically link to a particular group upon bootup and am hoping there is a way to do this.

Hi Ben. Thanks for a great tutorial. I have built my Node and it appears to be working, but it doesn't announce the IP address or anything when first powered up..any suggestions gratefully received.

I bet your COS needs inverting

If I connect to the parrot node (40894) I get dialogue OK with COS normal but still no start up messages.

Yes, from the COS wire... using a suitable resistor.

There is such thing as flush cutter instead of the plier to cut the leads of electronic components.
