@@DocBree13 Duh. The point is she seemed to relish calling him that rather than saying his NAME. There is no compassion or consideration in that. Whether she liked him or not, the murder was horrifying and if she wasn't part of the scheme she could have shown some sensitivity around what happened to him rather than holding on to the contempt she had for him.

This is Donna wanting to come across as innocent grandmother type. WTF?!!! An innocent person would NOT hesitate to call police IMMEDIATELY. Even using words like "out of the loop" incriminate her in some way. Why would ANYONE, whether related or not, react this way? To me this shows she knows SOMETHING and that's something....so strange. I don't trust her.

So you are walking down the street one day and a total stranger hands you an extortion notice with his phone number and fingerprints all over it and telling you he knows who murdered your former son-in-law and you don't go directly to the police with this evidence? You call him and tell him how it's stressing you out? Please, the people who have been through the stress machine and back are Dan Markel's parents. Anybody with any morals at all would go directly to the police.

What’s confusing about this case, and the incident you just described, is the fact that IF the family was being extorted, they would’ve behaved the same way - that’s why they used the extortion lie in court.
What convinces me that Donna, Charlie, & Wendi are guilty is other behaviors that show how narcissistic they are - like Charlie’s phone call to his Mom long before he was arrested, showing his lack of empathy, narcissistic idea of what relationships should be, his entitlement, etc, and Donna’s emails, showing how she used her kids & grandchildren as objects and had no empathy for anyone at all.
The Adelson family had it all , but because Princess Wendi didn’t get her way they had a man killed for her ,now the whole family is going down hurting the boys even more . Wealthy people think they are above the law and many times it’s true let’s hope not for the Markel family . The next one to go down is Wendi because she is the catalyst of this tragedy .
The one positive in this is the boys going to live with their loving grandparents in Canada.
And now she is done for too. I've cried so many happy tears since the news broke. I knew this day would come

What a rediculous family. Look at all the stress they have going on now because they think they can commit murder and get away with it. They deserve to get the maximum punishment..They had no right to harm Dan Markel ..

She recorded the call and then Charlie listened to it. Then Charlie called him a pot-bellied pig. He knew it was FBI. This calls screams of guilt on the part of Donna and Charlie.
The undercover agent only mentioned "your problem we solved up north" and nothing about murder but Wendy stupidly said "I didn't do it so go turn them in and claim the reward money"..Did anyone else hear that?

People wonder why he testified. It is very common and well known, that Sociopathic/Psychopathic Narcissists INSIST on testifying because they are so sure of themselves. On top of that they truly believe that whatever crime they committed is no big deal or not a crime at all. That's why they override their lawyers because they also think that they can persuade or con the jury into believing their side of their story.

It was hi team who thought it was better if he testified. The cards were too stacked against him and there was nothing to loose. Considering the evidence , he testified well. But that wasn't gonna save him.

She has her own attorney who has advised her to plead the fifth to every single question she is asked in a court of law and the prosecution has been informed of this. That is one reason why she hasn't been called in to take the stand.

If you didn't have a single thing to do with the murder, you wouldn't continue the phone call for 5 seconds. You wouldn't leave a voicemail and then call your son with a cryptic conversation. NO ONE would do that. They would call the cops ASAP and tell them what happened. If you had NOTHING to do with the murder, you would not call Charlie...and Charlie call Catherine who 'looks into it' and then back to Donna and then back to Charlie. Please. Innocent people don't do that.

An innocent person would never have this conversation. They'd immediately go to the police. She called him back and also never reacted to him saying the shooter "took care of a problem for her she had up north". An innocent person would say you're crazy, I'm going to the police. On top of that she recorded this call and played it for Charlie because she was scared this was law enforcement. Charlie told her it was FBI, and called the officer a pot bellied pig.

As many scammers and con people there are these days finding new ways to target seniors, if she didn't know anything, she would've went straight to the police, especially after the threatening email. Just the fact she didn't tell authorities that this guy was bothering her for money is enough for me to know she knows all about it and helped make it happen.

If Charlie were actually being extorted, which he wasn't (at least not before or immediately after the murder, although I think perhaps Katie did leverage her knowledge against Charlie afterwards) this would be A BLESSING! We can now go directly to the police with CONFIRMATION of EXTORTION and my problems will be solved! What innocent person engages with potential extortionists while currently being extorted? It's like that episode of Community where the Dean just agrees with anyone who wants to conspire with him.
