I love Good Smile figures, I have the Sakura Miku nendoroid and she's stunning, but since they are a bit pricy for my very tight budget I love buying from Taito and Banpresto ^^
I only own 2 figures from FOTS 1/8 Tohru (Miss Kobayashi Dragon Maid) and 1/8 Kirie Sakurame (UQ Holder), The Tohru arrived no problems at all but the Kirie Sakurame had a flower on her hat that was broke cleanly off. The Tohru on par with sculpt and paint job compared my other scale figures. The Kirie Sakurame appears to be 3d printed and has a okay paint job. I was fine with the Kirie Sakurame cause I got her for 1/3 price on discount on a US based figure site and was willing take the chance for her being broken. She is my fav character from that anime and the only figure I know of for that series.

this has been really great! I've been collecting for years, but I've mostly stuck to Nendoroids because of space and price. But I've been wanting to branch out so I'm glad I found this :)

Tuấn Đặng I can attest to this. I started only with Banpresto and Sega figures of Kimetsu no yaiba until I came across Kotobukiya's KNY figures that I decided to get. And now I jumped in the rabbit hole of getting scale figures from other animes that is making me broke 😅
@@tuanang7889 fax. My first scale fig is emilia from kotobukiya and the quality is definitely better than the prize figs I have. My 2nd scale fig is the mai kimono figure which is very detailed.
Well, that's quite an honest review and comprehensive enough. It is a pity that no popup shows a typical figure that reflects the general impression of the manufacturer.
Kotobukiya 1/6 scales are really fairly priced. I recently bought one of Rei and it was like 80€ (114 starting price), which for 1/6 I think it’s an amazing price.
Thank you very much, I appreciated your video a lot, it's informative and can help choose among the different companies! I agree with you about the bare leg figures, I bought Utaha 1/4 scale by Freeing because she was a lot cheaper... today I bought instead Kurisu Makise with the fishnets, I think they are better!
I agree with your finale con for GoodSmile. I ordered a Hanako Nendoroid Doll in November 2022 and yet it's release date isn't until November of 2023!!!!
the Mytheos proxy thing, do you know if Play Asia has stocked those figures before ? they are usually pretty good when it comes to imports, I imported a die cast, although and its a big one, they took my order but couldnt fulfill it, so. . . .I mean I still wanted it, so I had to pay extra for them to be able to get my order ready, it really bummed me out but it's like . . .part of a set, so I guess I'm happy but yeah it succked having to pay even more because they took too many orders
So what I've noticed with goodsmile and their preorder is that yeah they do it like a year in advance but you don't get charged so you can cancel it whenever. I'm still new to collecting so I don't know if that's the same for everything but when I just bought a mytheos figure on another site for preorder in Sept I was already charged. So iono how preorders work for other sites but I thought goodsmile not charging until shipment was cool
Awesome video, super informative. Agreed about the bare legs versions but I *did* just get the Momo you mentioned. Looking forward to more videos from you, you're doing great.
Really think this was nice and informative for newer collectors! ♥️ I’d also agree re: the bunny figures, the Aqua one was way too expensive so I went with bare leg just to be able to get her. Feels bad. Though I kept being distracted by your ring light showing up in your glasses 😂
I know I'm sorry about the ring light, it was getting dark while I filmed so I put it on but next time I'll definitely avoid it! Edit: Even though tights may be preferred the Bare legged Aqua is still a gorgeous figure! I definitely would have gone for the bare legged if I was looking for her now just because it's so much cheaper than aftermarket.
@@GwynCollects Haha no it's definitely no problem at all, it just made laugh a little :) Yeah and honestly given how Aqua constantly shows her ass off I think it fits her that way haha.
FYI there's an Ikumi that I have that goes with the Erina, though she's by max factory but essentially same company. It's Called Ikumi General meat version, and she's like 2 in 1 figure because she has two upper bodies options.

Kotobukiya are usually good at character faces, they're one of the good ones who nails the likeness of the characters although really sometimes the poses are just plain.
People are saying that ordering on Koto Us from Canada is trash. Can I ask why? I want to get bonus parts but I heard their figures don't even ship at all.
i own a FOTS japan figure. the glue is horrible you can see a huge gap between the connecting points. also the figure tipped over and the hair immediately cracked off.
i hate the bonus parts since i cant order it im in the ph and cant deal with the shipping and yeah youre right some bonus parts are really necesarry faceplates too like shinra's and arthur
What do you guys think about Furyu F:Nex? I recently pre ordered both JJK Satoru Gojo unlimited curses figure and the mappa showcase 1/7 scale from furyu and would like to know if they are a good brand for scale figures since its my first time purchasing scales. Thank you very much ☺️
Hi. Im new to this sort of collection hobby, so this was a fairly great video to watch. My main charater target is the show Kantai Collection, and I noticed that one of the brands that make the figures from that show is one of the positive brands you mentioned. Im not from the US, so buying a figure will be a very expensive thing, so therefore I want the most bang for buck and I feel like this helped me get a better idea of what brands to look out for. What would you choose as a first figure? The poseble ones or the non poseble ones? Any advice would be great to hear!
Most of my figures were/ are kotobukiya so I can say there were problems with the quality with the old releases (2011 and 2013 figures i owned were a mess) but I don't see any issues with the fresh releases, all of my kotos starting with 2017 are really fine quality. Also I think faces are also really good, maybe I'm just lucky with the characters they make 🙂
Not sure if your a fire emblem fan. But good smile will be making Ike and Marth 1/6 scale figures. I know that Camilla was technically intelligent systems. Checking the info for Ike it says manufactured by intelligent systems, distributed by Good Smile.
I've been really getting into the Bandai Spirits FiguartsZERO line. Most are in the range of $50 - $100. A bunch of figures in this line have dynamic poses and effects. I'm a sucker for both. I'm glad they don't come out too too often otherwise my wallet would cry. The good smile pop up parade line is pretty solid. Only 1 out of the plethora of pop up parade I've purchased have been disappointing. I have so many banpresto figures from when I first started and wanted to buy cheaper figures. I wish I had purchased a few expensive-ish figures rather than a bunch of banpresto that I don't even display any more. Ah, regrets.
I like it when they put up pre orders well in advance, it removes a lot of the possibility of damaging impulse buying, you have pretty much a full year to properly decide on if you actualy want the thing or if you change your mind yu can cancel, it also gives you plenty of time to set asside the money for it and save in increments rather than just casualy dropping hundreds in one go you can set aside £15 a month for it without any guilt. Honestly it is such a pro for me, its not like they are gonna release it any sooner either way so its cool that they are letting you know in advance and not relying on FOMO tactics to try and make you panic.
also you're right kotobukiya isnt consistent. benimaru's face looks really off when it was actually released. tho i think they fixed yuji's face and also its effect which is nice
This video is a year old, but I think going forward it would be cool to give us some picture examples or footage of your figures so we can follow along better. Keep up the good work
Bandai Robot Spirits line is quite good quality, but there are notable exceptions. As always, check reviews of the figure you are interested in. You can always buy relatively inexpensive Bandai Gundam Universe action figures, they are along the lines of Robot Spirits but with less articulation and less offerings at this moment. As for other manufacturers, sometimes a company that otherwise rates lower may offer a subjectively better version of the same figure than one with an overall higher quality index. You may have a preference for a particular type of manufacturing process and/or have budget constraints-for example, buying an action figure or purchasing a higher-priced model kit of the same character and vise versa.
I always buy the Nendoroid's from GoodSmile, since I like their Chibi Style of the Characters from like Demon Slayer, Vocaloid etc. But my problem with them is how inconsistent they release some Characters. Like with Kasane Teto AI, they were really fast to release a Nendoroid of her. But if we talk about Vocaloids, some of them never got a Nendoroid to begin with or got it very late. Like if we talk about Hatsune Miku for example, she has many versions. The one Version were they were fast was NT only taking one to two years until releasing her. With V4X, it took four years to release her Nendoroid Version and now with V3 officially getting a Nendoroid of her own, it took them literal ten years for that. And V3 was released in 2013 and has been retired since then. While other like Luka V4X or Gumi V4 never got a Nendoroid to begin with. That's what's bugging me with GS. With Doki Doki Literature Club they were consistent this time, but they still are inconsistent with some other figure series. But other than that, I love their figures
Hi 👋 I got a question again hehe. I saw that you have a Dazai figure from (Bungo Stray Dog ) and I am wondering that does sold out figures and nendroids be restock again ? As I am new to this anime figure things and your tutorial has really help me a lot. I plan to buy those figure in the future cause the currency is so freaking expensive like $100= RM 423.25
I feel like Alter only makes figures of a few series and characters. So far i haven't found any Alter figures of some of my favorite series and characters. Like Re:Zero, Madoka, Attack on Titan, Steins:Gate (barely any figures in general and the few are all Kirusu Makise). Was about to mention Violet Evergarden but there's sadly no figure of her by any company.
12:10 that pre-order thing is probably because they realize they can't produce figure as fast as the other and they often waiting for the respond of the series from consumer/viewer. just like Touken Ranbu franchise, they made lots of figure but not a single figma from that series especially for anime characters, the figure often available long after the show ended, so the hype was already gone. that's why they put pre-order earlier than other company
i think gsc makes pre orders so far in advance because they do it with the airing shows and people are really invested into the show while theyre watching it so theyre most likley to buy the figures while theyre on that hype on a certain show
i really like cheap figures and we have renesanse of them, taito, banpresto, sega, furyu in my country 30$ is 1 day of work so I really appreciate these prices
I used to like Good Smile Company a lot but I feel like some of the prices for their scale figures are pretty overpriced nowadays. Some of their 1/7 definitely doesn't justify the 20k yen price.
I bought a Sakura (naruto) nendoriod that’s on pre order it was 5,000yen but after looking over a few videos/reviews about it. I realised it didn’t actually have much compared to the other two main characters that were a lil more expensive but had like loads more stuff I don’t think it was worth the price so I agree
Have you ever bought any QuesQ figure? Any comment about them? I might get the QuesQ Evangelion 02 statue / figure but have no idea about this manufacturer.

all the ones i have are great their faces are awesome and i can't see any seem lines on them the bigger Ace figures i have have perfect paint jobs and even skin tone. buy one and see if you like it i bought my first one while in lock down last year to keep me from getting depressed and wound up buying almost all of my collection in a three month span

Best scale figures are from Max Factory, Alter, Good Smile Company. Then there's Kotobukiya which produces a lot of figures but sometimes lack the quality of the first brands I mentioned. Myethos makes some nice figures. Freeing is meh. I don't care about the price if is a good figure.

It’s just sales. I’m looking at the waifu cups and all 19 girls are sold out and just the one husbando cup is for sale. In this anime niche, waifus just outsell husbandos by a huge margin, so get less love.
@@TheRoleplayer40k That also sucks because it gets boring seeing the same body type, gender, and archetype. Variety helps a lot even if it's nothing new. Also we need more darker skin waifus and I don't mean just tan skin which I still like.

I didn't take down all the sites that have the Miku on pre-order, but I ordered mine from a website called SugoToys based in Australia ^w^
sugotoys.com.au/product/myethos-studio-hatsune-miku-chinese-style/
I really hope you can get your hands on the Myethos Miku figure, she's so gorgeous and definitely worth the price! She'd be a stunning addition to any figure collection owo
Again, thanks so much for making videos on figure collecting. I really appreciate them and can see your passion in making these kinds of videos.
It makes me happy seeing people make content that they love with so much care and hard work.
You've earned yourself a new subscriber :>
I can't wait to see your channel and your audience grow, you deserve lots more subs!!
This was so helpful! I also was hesitant on the Yuji figure from Kotobukiya the face wasn’t doing it for me, so I decided to buy the Megahouse figure of him instead. I always enjoy your videos! :)
Thank you! The Megahouse one looks super good!
THANK YOUUUU!!! I’m been trying to find out which manufactures are good since they all have such varying qualities. And then I stumbled upon your channel and I’ve been coming back since, you’ve got a new subscriber LOL
myethos actually does really well with non Japanese anime fig sales. there is a big market for them out there. its not even a con unless you have something against Chinese media lol
Just saw your channel and your content is awesome! I’ve started collecting funko pops a few months ago and now looking into collecting figures.
Your channel will be a big help for someone who’s just starting like me.
100% agreed with you! You can never go wrong with Alter figures. They always deliver high quality. Also, thanks for another great video! It's so much fun to follow the growth of both your channel/videos and your collection :)
Thanks for the video. Great info! I've collected a lot of figures too, but I never really compared between different companies systematically.
this has been really great! I've been collecting for years, but I've mostly stuck to Nendoroids because of space and price. But I've been wanting to branch out so I'm glad I found this :)
Have you bought from Goodsmileus before?
11:22 , the way they made a Daisuke Kambe Nendoroid and completely neglected Haru Kato 😪😪
Seriously..how could they not release them together! D: -sobs-
@@tranqkill they simply lack taste I guess 😪
I was sold when u said face makes or breaks it - super agree
After collecting for a long time, Alter has always been my fav.
I had to use a proxy service I’ve never used before for the Myethos Miku and until that figure is in my hand I’m scared it’ll fall through 😭😂 Great video!!
Ya I just saw some pictures of the 2233 Myethos figurees coming out and I want them but I'm not sure if I'm willing to go the proxie route ugh
Thank you so much for this video!! Very helpful!
As of right now, I strictly only collect nendoroids but I'm so tempted to dip my toe into the world of scale figures
start with the Pop Up Parade GoodSmile line, I think it's great to get before you get into scale figures!!
Loved the video! So far, I mainly own some Banpresto prize figures and a few nendroids. I'm hoping to find a scale figure that catches my eye soon! 😄
you better watch out for your wallet because once you go for scale figures, you can't never go back and it's kind of addicting so again, be thoughtful on that.
Thanks! I agree, I'll add that in next time!
@@GwynCollects You're welcome. :)
Kotobukiya 1/6 scales are really fairly priced. I recently bought one of Rei and it was like 80€ (114 starting price), which for 1/6 I think it’s an amazing price.
Woah, really?! Ok, brb gonna go buy some Kotobukiya stuff
I have what I thought was an odd fascination with figures. Glad to see so many other people share the interest in them. Great vid.
the Mytheos proxy thing, do you know if Play Asia has stocked those figures before ? they are usually pretty good when it comes to imports, I imported a die cast, although and its a big one, they took my order but couldnt fulfill it, so. . . .I mean I still wanted it, so I had to pay extra for them to be able to get my order ready, it really bummed me out but it's like . . .part of a set, so I guess I'm happy but yeah it succked having to pay even more because they took too many orders
I’d also agree re: the bunny figures, the Aqua one was way too expensive so I went with bare leg just to be able to get her.
@@GwynCollects Haha no it's definitely no problem at all, it just made laugh a little :)
Yeah and honestly given how Aqua constantly shows her ass off I think it fits her that way haha.
FYI there's an Ikumi that I have that goes with the Erina, though she's by max factory but essentially same company. It's Called Ikumi General meat version, and she's like 2 in 1 figure because she has two upper bodies options.
hi hi, i’m just a random commenter, you don’t have to listen to me, you keep doing you, BUT personally, i would’ve liked to see photos or footage of each individual figure you referenced back to when talking about the pros and cons of each manufacturer. i’m not familiar with a lot of the figures you talked about and it would’ve been nice to have an image in mind lol.
other than that, i really enjoy your videos.
Hi! I totally agree with this so I made sure to add photos in my second video about manufacturers!
Kotobukiya are usually good at character faces, they're one of the good ones who nails the likeness of the characters although really sometimes the poses are just plain.
Thank you. That was a nice quick guide. Trying to expand my figure collection, so this helps a lot
People are saying that ordering on Koto Us from Canada is trash. Can I ask why? I want to get bonus parts but I heard their figures don't even ship at all.
Very informative video! Found some FOTS figures at tempting prices on a Canadian site but now I don'y know if I should pull the trigger....
Beautiful collection 😍
i own a FOTS japan figure. the glue is horrible you can see a huge gap between the connecting points. also the figure tipped over and the hair immediately cracked off.
I'm so sorry to hear that :(
Any thoughts on Wonderful Hobby Selection / Max Factory?
i hate the bonus parts since i cant order it im in the ph and cant deal with the shipping and yeah youre right some bonus parts are really necesarry faceplates too like shinra's and arthur
What do you guys think about Furyu F:Nex? I recently pre ordered both JJK Satoru Gojo unlimited curses figure and the mappa showcase 1/7 scale from furyu and would like to know if they are a good brand for scale figures since its my first time purchasing scales. Thank you very much ☺️
I got my very first Kotobukiya of Yukino Yukinoshita 1/8 scale figure and Good Smile Company of Takina Inoue 1/7 scale figure.
I did a quick search on MFC, and my only gripe with Taito figures, is the majority
tends to be Miku, Rem and Mai, as well as no male figures.
12:08 My Xenoblade figures are due out in October/November 2022 lol.
I agree with your Taito review. Prices are cheaper than banpresto but with better quality.
Most of my figures were/ are kotobukiya so I can say there were problems with the quality with the old releases (2011 and 2013 figures i owned were a mess) but I don't see any issues with the fresh releases, all of my kotos starting with 2017 are really fine quality. Also I think faces are also really good, maybe I'm just lucky with the characters they make 🙂
Spitting straight facts about the bare legs bunnies 😤😤😤 You should check out Stronger too - they make some beautiful figures especially kimono figs!
I love the stronger Miku kimono figure! Also thanks aha why don't they just rerelease the tights ver 😭
Does GSC re-release scaled figures?
Not sure if your a fire emblem fan. But good smile will be making Ike and Marth 1/6 scale figures. I know that Camilla was technically intelligent systems. Checking the info for Ike it says manufactured by intelligent systems, distributed by Good Smile.
Apprently I am a cat because I am physically incapable of ignoring that blue dot in your glasses
My favorite is ALTER they have the best hair and coloring! Really elegant and delicately made
I've been really getting into the Bandai Spirits FiguartsZERO line.
What do you think of Figuarts Zero and MegaHouse?
The ring light reflecting on your glasses was freaking me out at first because I didn't know what it was lol
I tend to buy based on series. Looking at my collection its mostly MH & Koto. I do have a few random Alter, GSC, and Max Factory figs that I luv.
How did you get Levi??? The one in the background isn’t coming until the end of 2022
The one coming out this year is a rerelease. I have the original release!
I agree. They are a GoodSmell Company. Always smells good out of the bos for sure!
I hope I can buy an Alter figure down the road 😅
Stronger makes really good figures too. Their type moon racing scale figures are *chefs kiss*
About to buy a Fots Japan figure, wish me luck.
12:10 that pre-order thing is probably because they realize they can't produce figure as fast as the other and they often waiting for the respond of the series from consumer/viewer. just like Touken Ranbu franchise, they made lots of figure but not a single figma from that series
especially for anime characters, the figure often available long after the show ended, so the hype was already gone. that's why they put pre-order earlier than other company
what is your opinion on max factory and kaiyodo? i have figures from both companies and i didnt hear u mention them :0
i think gsc makes pre orders so far in advance because they do it with the airing shows and people are really invested into the show while theyre watching it so theyre most likley to buy the figures while theyre on that hype on a certain show
Awesome informative video! Are you going to do a part 2 someday? (if so I would love to have a section about Phat! )
I think I will! I'll definitely talk about Phat!
i really like cheap figures and we have renesanse of them, taito, banpresto, sega, furyu in my country 30$ is 1 day of work so I really appreciate these prices
I've heard great things about QuesQ! I'm planning on ordering the Holo they are releasing!
@@GwynCollects That's a relief. Thanks! Love your content!
What about animota? Is that a good website to buy off of?
Can someone tell me if amakuni , bandai, banpresto and furyu are ok?
Banpresto figures are awesome the majority of my collection are them the only issues i've had where on my end trying to get parts to say put but i have problems manipulating small parts. i have to say that other then my One piece Ace figures the My Hero Academia The Amazing Heroes Vol.6 Aizawa Shota Figure has to be my favorite. the way his scarf flows around the figure is awesome and at a 30-40 usd price rage on amazon they are affordable
@@redschafer7804 I see! Do they feel like good quality? in terms of paint job and is there very bad seamlines etc? :) How about their face paint?
all the ones i have are great their faces are awesome and i can't see any seem lines on them the bigger Ace figures i have have perfect paint jobs and even skin tone. buy one and see if you like it i bought my first one while in lock down last year to keep me from getting depressed and wound up buying almost all of my collection in a three month span
@@redschafer7804 oh my x'D I do feel more assured that the figures im looking at might came out good then! I will see if i could purchase them :) Thank you so much for explaining! Im very new to figure collecting as i usually only collect merchandise or acrylic stands x'D

My friend and I decided to try collecting up on a few figures after this vid - Thanks for the info!
Welcome to the hobby!
My favorite are: Banpresto,Good Smile Company andbTaito
i have a question? is amiami good?like is amiami safe to buy from
Best scale figures are from Max Factory, Alter, Good Smile Company. Then there's Kotobukiya which produces a lot of figures but sometimes lack the quality of the first brands I mentioned. Myethos makes some nice figures. Freeing is meh. I don't care about the price if is a good figure.
i really like some bareleg more than figs with stockings, examples are CC, jibril, shiro, koneko, lucifer. i like them more bareleg.
I know youll probably never see this but i need to ask lol. Who is that figure you have in frame next to the one sitting.
9:47 subsidiary that's the word you're looking for
Also Myethos never does reprint and the after market prices are just ridiculous (i'm looking at you Gilgamesh !)
Minority or not you are right. As a guy we need more male figures. It gets old when it's only one gender. Seriously though. Variety is very important.
Well. That sucks
It's ok, dragon ball got us covered lol
@@greedpower565 Dragon Ball Z is meh
It’s just sales.
I’m looking at the waifu cups and all 19 girls are sold out and just the one husbando cup is for sale.
In this anime niche, waifus just outsell husbandos by a huge margin, so get less love.
@@TheRoleplayer40k That also sucks because it gets boring seeing the same body type, gender, and archetype. Variety helps a lot even if it's nothing new. Also we need more darker skin waifus and I don't mean just tan skin which I still like.
How do you guys find what the company is releasing? Like their announcements and stuff?

Thank's for a very nice review. I can't wait for the arrival of AKA Re2ing (Magic Mould, a Good Smile Company Group).Recently, a new Co. Shibuya Scramble Figure is in topic in Japan (maybe because this Co. is promoting AD very much).Price is expensive but it seems to be very beautiful/high quality (however, it doesn't suit my taste since I feel...too healthy or peaceful, less charm, only in my opinion...).
12:20 that is pretty common if you collecting Hot Toys Figures
Not mentioned in the video but pulchra (I think that's how it's spelt) also produce extremely bad figures. They almost never look like the promo pictures and are made of brittle material so break easily. I was going to buy the pulchra Ram figure but I read up on the company and there were so many stories of figures arriving broken or breaking after only a few months
