    I don't mind a three position switch for arming. You put arm in the middle and disarm at the top and bottom. That way no matter what you do with the switch you're disarming it when it's armed.

      I have several times throttled up too fast (aka shit my pants and tried to bail out) and accidentally flipped the switch above from middle to top, and then panic and flip it all the way down, totally missing the middle position, and then birdie go bye bye LOL. I have changed the functionality of said switch to have no negative effects should I accidentally flick it, meaning I set arm at top, disarm at bottom, and something arbitrary like "LED's off" in the middle - but that's just my preference - peace bro

    How to map those 6 stupid buttons in OpenTx to a 6 positions on a single channel.
    6 positions maps into -100 to +100 range like this.. -100 -60 -20 20 60 100
    Go to Mixer screen. Select output channel, edit.
    Source - push the first button.
    Then set the weight to -50 and offset to -50. Now that button will contribute either -100 or 0 to the output.
    Back to mixer, select the same row, hold down enter, and select Insert after.
    Source - push the 2nd button..
    Weight -30 offset -30..
    Repeat for buttons 3-6 with weight -10 offset -10, weight 10, offset 10, weight 30 offset 30, and weight 50 offset 50.
    Every button not selected will contribute 0 to the output, and the button selected contributes weight + offset..

    As a lover of trim switches, I need to say how brilliant the trim switches are on that radio! I hate trying to hold a airplane in the air that wants to die while searching with my other hand for two or three different sets of trim switches

    • @typxxilps
      @typxxilps 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      but be aware that on such slider trim switches you know its position and how to push it how much.
      These joystick dials look nice but in the air it becomes more difficult.
      I am talking from not owning this unit but my experience with such integrated joysticks with additional push button in the center cause I had used such for controling a camera and that was not as nice as with any slider kind controls.
      But I agree that it looks nice, feels nice in the beginning but in case of a trouble situation a dedicated might show its advantages cause it feels more intuitive to feel where the slider sits now and how much I had pushed that forward instead of counting short clicks like pressing a button.
      But counting such clicks needs a sound which will require a sdcard to put some sounds on it.
      You need to have it in your hand and play around with them in the air to be able to judge.

About the 6 button switch you can fix this is page 2 of the model setup, goto page 2, scroll down to function switches, and remove the 1 2 or 3 behind. It looks like this sw1 - 2pos - -. Personally I always want disarming to be as fast as possible and with as few conditions as possible.

    • @ooOoo.....
      @ooOoo..... 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think delay will accomplish what we want here. We want to hold the button for 1 second to arm so if the button is bumped it won’t arm.
      The following will require the momentary be held for 1 second to arm. It will disarm instantly with a quick press, which I prefer as Bardwell does also. I used SJ in the example since that’s what my TX16S has, but any momentary can be used to match what the radio has.
      L01/sticky/L02/SJ down
      L02/Edge/SJ down/ 1.0
      Then use L01 in the mixer (channel 5 if ELRS) to arm
      😁

    • @daemn42
      @daemn42 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ooOoo..... I already tested my approach and it works as described. A momentary bump will not arm it. It requires a long press to arm, and a long press to disarm. I can't imagine why anyone would then want a momentary bump to cause an instant drop from the sky but if your approach does that, then great.
      edit: I tested your lines both with SJ down and it didn't work. Had to change the Edge line to SJ up (the other down) and then it worked.

    • @ooOoo.....
      @ooOoo..... 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daemn42 I tested your method and you’re right, it works as you intended it to. I tested mine and it also works as I said, and I use it all the time to fly with, so maybe you have something else messed up?
      I like the instant disarm so when I crash into a tree or bush my motors aren’t trying to run while I’m waiting for it to disarm. I have 5 amp ESC’s and it wouldn’t take long to fry one. Some people may have other reason, like for safety or whatever. It’s not as easy to accidentally hit a switch when flying and my hands are in a fixed position on the radio as compared to before a flight as I’m fumbling around with getting everything ready.
      As long as what we each do works for us that’s all that matters 😁

    • @daemn42
      @daemn42 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ooOoo..... I misinterpreted where you were putting the 1.0. With 1.0 in the start edge time, it works with SJ down in both places. But it only arms when you release the button after 1 sec. There's no feedback to let you know you've waited long enough. Also if while armed, you hold the button down for more than a second it will disarm immediately as intended, and then rearm as soon as you release which is a bit quirky.
      The alternate approach I found is to set the edge time back to 0.0, set it to SJ up (true edge detect seems to be reversed from what seems logical) and then add a 1.0 sec delay to L01.
      Now it will arm after holding the button down > 1 sec, stays armed on release, and disarms instantly on next press no matter short or long.
      L01 Stky L02 SJ down delay 1.0
      L02 Edge SJ up [0.0:--]

    First thought is the same. But again there might be a point of having the six pos this way. In elrs the aux channels are on/off so modes will be so much easier to set up this way. If you using any other protocol where you like all modes on one channel to save channels instead then there is no problem combining then in openTX into one channel. That is basically the old bardwell trick to save channels with several normal 2 and 3pos switches ;-) Each switch just using add to the channel.
    So actually it might just not be dumb but genius design if you think of this. Really hope they keep this behavior in the elrs version.

    I don't own this radio, but if you want to use the 6-pos switch similar to the tx16s i got a theory. You might be able to create six special functions (one for each of the buttons) and let them override all the same channel with a fixed value each (e.g. -90 -54 -18 18 54 90). that way only one channel gets used.
    edit: tested this on my qx7, in theory it is working (I used two switches and reset them manually, when the other one was activated)

    so u dont even need to push the stick up and then all the way down to do a trick you just push the button for x amount of time and it wil give u a preset amount of throttle.
    so if u just need a blip of throttle for a trick u just push the button and then stick down

    I can already see someone designing a 3D print to remove one momentary switch and installing a 2 postion rocker/toggle switch.

    • @licensetodrive9930
      @licensetodrive9930 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watching the teardown video of it, installing a rocker/toggle switch certainly looks possible, but will have to stick out a bit so a 3D print is needed.
      I'm thinking of getting one and I'm not too bad at designing such printed things.

    I'm really excited for this radio. i think the momentary sholder switches are going to be great for rc planes (bomb drop, flaperons or spoilerons etc. or even for some of the fpv combat modules)and combat robotsl. i has lost numberous switch arms to kids so im really loving the slim shoulder switches. unsure about the six button switch though. looking forward to the set up guide.

    you can program the 6 dual position switches to control one channel. It's 6 lines of output programming, but than it behaves like it did before.

    Seems like a bigger deal is made about 6-postion buttons than should have at 5:44. Being an OpenTx radio, the buttons can be easily setup as old-style AM/FM car-radio buttons, or like a modern audio/video mixer where inputs are combined into a single channel value.
    Similarly at 5:20 in regard to the momentary switches. This too is fully configurable in OpenTx.
    Is building a product a little different a bad thing? Maybe it's bad, there is no color LCD display as well?

      That's great...but I've found I better not Pre-Order FPV gear, because until the reviewers get their hands on it, fly with, do a deep dive on it, you never know if it's gonna be good or not. Just look at Radiomaster's last game style radio - Didn't get good reviews at all. Not a great seller and too many complaints about this and that. Keeping my fingers cross for you! I've found patience is much less of a gamble... Because, as it stands it's like you went to the Casino and placed a bet on Black or Red. 50 / 50 chance of it not coming up your color.... ;)

    Great video as usual. I guess you can use Logical Switch to use single each of the button of the six positions switch with the sticky mode

  • @shawnzfpv
    @shawnzfpv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pita but you could do logic switches then have each switch trigger logic conditions that override channel whatever to values that make it act as a 6 POS switch.

    Thank you Joshua! U were right in time, so I cancelled my Jumper T-pro order!!!
    Im very surprised they manage to F. up with such basic stuff... Are they first day in RC business? Didn't they know the need of arming switch? Or they don't know how should that 6 chan switch working?
    Im very surprised they manage to fail so badly at a steady road
    Though I do like the design and that breading between DJI and Tango 2, thats was very good idea.

    Switching from sbus to elrs I noticed its very linear different then sbus , sbus is a solid link not far but solid where the elrs is alot smoother but not as quick response seems artificial or mabey its the frysky gimbles vs Jumper t .. the elrs are cheap for example ordered 4 only 2 worked 2 of them stuck in bootloader mode also the reconnect time is much longer on elsr where as if you have a high 160c battery and you max throttle lose to much voltage voltage its over by them time the receiver reboots you have crashed putting a battery beeper connecting my receiver to the same voltage pad always have power .. like the cheap flight controllers and esc's for $11 I just buy 2 more support my FPV company's

    Anyone that vapes will have no issues with batteries for this. We already have the chargers and probably an extra pair of batteries laying around. You can charge them way faster than 12 hours on the usual cheap vape stuff.

    Most disappointing thing is missing ELRS internal module, but Jumper says that it "will be available very soon". So I wait for it. 6 switches give us 2^6=64 position binary switch. :) Don't think we need so much. Or we can separate it to several binary groups.

  • @MegaIrgendetwas
    @MegaIrgendetwas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope they make a T-Pro 2, it’s the best looking radio and has plenty of features but they need to work on the switches, especially a 2-way-flip for arming. And they need to talk to the geniuses of ELRS so flashing etc. works as intended…

    so apart from the 6 position switches being next to useless, sticks are too long, momentary shoulder switches ,screen that is too small for my old eyes and an antennae that is 90 degrees out from where it should ,.... its ok
    arh i am going to stick with the Tlite and wait for openTX2.4 and dig out my nirvana...
    thanks joshua for the video but i am going to wait for the perfect radio.
