I do not believe the improvement this brought to a home WiFi. Bedroom was hovering around 8-10 Mbits, with frequent disconnections (being at the end of an apartment). I've placed main Deco in the living room, second one in kid's room (in the middle of the apartment), and the third one in the bedroom. Bedroom speed is 70+ Mbits! I am amazed! Excellent product!

For those who may still having problem after following the video. Here is my experience.
    1) Use the PDF guide it is clearer. Unlike this video at 1:14 , it is saying "We already done the wiring in the previous steps" (Which is NOT specific & confusing), The PDF wrote "IGNORE this step", which is much clearer.
    2) Secondly, you MUST use the black router provided by UNFI. Turn your router around, the router model MUST BE AC1200.
Don't be like me, I was using a third-party router that is not provided by UNFI. Since the guide DID NOT say we can't use third-party router, GG. I wasted HOURS figuring the problems.
Good luck there guys. Hope this helps.

Thank you for this comment. Now at least i know I am not stupid.... The idea of having one router plugged in to another the whole time next to each other was so riddiculous to me that I thought I am doing something wrong the whole time.. i thought with two M4s I will be able to cover the whole house, but now its clear it wont be the case without buying next devices. I am not going to spend a cent more for this shit...

Apparently for unifi users, when setting up the main unit, we need to connect directly to router, not modem. Not as the instruction in the app/manual. Which brings me to my question, do i need to ensure my first unit is continously connected to my router, then setup the second (and subsequent) unit(s) wirelessly?

I also wonder the same..as for now, i use Modem>Router>Deco..but my wifi has two connections now, the old one (from router) n the new one (from deco)..if possible, i dont want to use the router anymore as the deco is enough already..so u still using ur router?

    • @sohce
      @sohce 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I am currently not using my router. I connect my modem directly to deco. So I only have 1 Wi-Fi connection instead of 2. I can switch between 2.4 and 5 using the app. But connecting it to modem directly requires me to connect to PPPOE and therefore I need to get a PPPOE password from Unifi, my local internet provider. The downside of using this method is I can’t use deco as access point though.

Setting up is not very difficult.
But in many of these type of new router have
a function that's missing which is important.
    eg: mac filtering
it has black list function but without white list function
Black list function is ONLY good if you know the device mac number.
It will be good if Mac filtering is available.

I use unifi lite - modem ZTE ZXHN H267A. Took me hours to set up because I chose the connection type as PPPoE (and it was confirmed by unifi people when I contacted them through live chat). After numerous reset, I chose Dynamic IP and voila; it’s connected.
The speed isn’t that good though. Before mesh - 3.03Mbps. After mesh - 4.21Mbps. Lol where did I go wrong?

I am a tp link user, the only thing I don't understand is, to change the setting from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz for mesh tplink. options in deco ssid application, 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz 2.4Ghz only 5Ghz only. when I change to 5Ghz only, the wifi signal is lost. and I get a low speed, and I can't connect to the second deco m4. it gets disconnected easily.
