Books for Art Inspiration - Part 1. A look at some art books in my collection & how they inspire me!

Hello and welcome to part one of a new series on my channel about art books!
I love art books, I love all kinds of books and over the last 20 years or so since going to art school and becoming a professional artist and illustrator I have amassed quite the collection. Each month I am going to share a small selection of my favourites that have inspired me in the hope that you may discover a new book (or two or three) to inspire your own creative journey too.
This month I share a book about an artist and her work, a non-fiction and a book full of gorgeous art and essays and they are:
In the Garden of my Dreams - Nathalie Lété
Braiding Sweetgrass - Robin Wall Kimmerer
Drawing for Illustration - Martin Salisbury

Thanks Lee I really enjoyed this, I love, love, love having a snoop at other people’s bookshelves. I like how you say Natahlie’s work is unselfconscious because it gave me an ‘a-ha’ moment - being a naturally self conscious person I hadn’t thought about it transferring to my art practice. I’m off to the library now to order these books! I’m looking forward to more book reviews, I can tell you really love books.

It's really hard to bring that sort of free, unselfconsciousness to work, I'm still working on it myself...it's tough! maybe Nathalie does feel self conscious too but it doesn't come across that way to me :) I hope you enjoy the books in real life too and thanks so much for commenting ❤️ XX

I love Nathalie Lété’s work. Have you seen how she’s decorated her home with her painted motifs it’s so beautiful. The book looks absolutely gorgeous, it’s definitely going on my wish list! I was given Braiding Sweetgrass for Christmas and after listening to your review, very much looking forward to reading it. I love these book reviews, I’ve got quite a collection of art books myself and I can see it getting bigger after watching yours and Natasha’s videos.🤭😉xx

I have seen the house, it's stunning isn't it? I would quite like to do some murals in our house but am terrible at making decisions about things that will take so much time and that I will have to look at every day 😆 !! Glad you enjoyed this book video, and I hope you enjoy Braiding Sweetgrass too. I went straight out and bought the Hockney landscape book after seeing Natasha's video! XX
