All fantastic books. The Disney artists were all, and the animators now are all amazing. But you can see the stereotype that was pushed by the Disney Empire, and persists to this day. I had not heard of Adrian Berg, and I can see why you would be so attracted to his work. The Yoshitomo Nara book is one that I do want for my library, mostly because of the way it has been published! Thanks, I love your Books for Art Inspiration series!
Amazing drawing process ❤
Amazing painting process ❤
You are so true. Anything to not look like a fool, though most probably no one will see it. And it will be beautiful anyway. But what if it’s not? Why are we like this? And I see others make what I hint is very poor art, yet the makers put it out there, so proudly, and even hold classes to teach how to do it. And people fawn over them. Why, why, why? (Your artwork is beautiful by the way.)
This resonated so much! Thank you Lee! Keep making more videos, love them 😊
All gorgeous! I think, when I looked him up, the Society of Illustrators had a post about his passing on 😢 The Bird Book is fantastic!
I love Mark Hearld! I found his book so inspirational and it send me on a whole beautiful journey when I felt I was stagnating with my ideas to make work. I know the Austin Kleon book as well but have never purchased it for my collection. And the special book! Marthe Armitage ❤ Thank you for this review.
❤ beautiful
Hello! It’s weird that there is no Adrian Berg book in Amazon, I liked his works and thank for sharing
That is weird, I'm pretty sure that's where I got mine from...hopefully you can find it elsewhere!
@@BonbiForest thank you
Absolutely love this book series you're doing. Its so inspiring to see other arrists work. It really broadens the horizons of whats possible, when you work in your own little creative bubble at home I think you need that sometimes, otherwise I often get lost in my own tunnel vision 😅😂❤xx
I'm so glad you're enjoying it and yes that's so true...sometimes just opening a book and learning about another artist sparks so many ideas and excitement. Books are such portals into other worlds and lives, I love them! ❤️
your style is incredible. i'm in love
That's so kind, thanks so much! ❤️
Dear Lee, Please stop tempting me to spend more money on stunning art books! I always enjoy the ones you share and the incredible work you create, as well ;) That being said, you are a bad influence on me and my bank account, hehehe! Your viewer, Deb ;)
Aww, ha ha, this comment made me laugh 😆 Glad you are enjoying the books though, Deb!! And as always, thanks for watching ❤️❤️
Just love your videos and gorgeous inspiring books ❤ thank you for sharing …. Just wanted to add that your art studio looks amazing would love a video showing around it 💝
Thanks so much, I'm really glad you're enjoying them ❤️ Perhaps I should do a studio tour? It's an ever evolving place!
I love this series, the bird book is gorgeous! x
Thanks Jessica, glad you're enjoying it! ❤️
Thanks for this fab video. That bird book
Thanks for watching, I'm so glad you like it...those birds are so lovely aren't they? ❤️
YAY! I love this video series of yours, Lee! I've found so many good art books through it :D
That's brilliant, I'm so glad you are enjoying it! Thanks for watching ☺️❤️
Such a relaxing and inspiring video! I especially loved the Birds book - all slightly different pieces of art and lettering yet, like you said, all woven together through his style! Thank you, Lee ❤🐦⬛
So glad you enjoyed it and appreciated the birds...gorgeous aren't they? ❤️
@@BonbiForest they’re so so gorgeous, like your bird art project!! 💗
Love this! The painting is beautiful...♡♡♡ I try using the 10 minute rule, give myself ten minutes to make a mark/start something. If, after 10 mins, I'm still not feeling it I stop; more often than not I'm into it and continue 🙂
That's such good advice! So much better than sitting there getting frustrated...I'm guessing that if you haven't managed to make a start you go away and do something else that needs seeing to, chores/life admin etc? Or do you try another creative avenue like reading or researching?
Depends on my mood...if my head's chattering then some mundane chores helps to calm the chatter and gives a dopamine hit of achieving something (weirdly I also can get a creative idea doing this). If the weather is nice then a sit in the garden to think/jot ideas, if weather grim then read/sudoku/look through art books/watch TH-cam creative videos ❤❤❤
Love love love The Strawberry Thief. A few words can change lives. Thirty years ago my dentist said “Only floss the ones you want to keep”. It immediately became an every day habit, and an everyday habit too. You’re right about access to tools and materials. I’ve a single box for one pastime; easy to grab and get going, provided I keep the table clear. Another craft requires many ‘bits’, so I now take time to enjoy the preparation time, as it focuses me on what I’m going to do. Interruptions and how to sink back into the warm bath of creativity when someone has made us get out? More than once when parenting is involved? Suspect that’s another video entirely.
Thank you, so glad you like it :) And lovely to hear that you do the same thing with the materials...I agree that preparation time for more materials-heavy pastimes is all part of the joy though. Ahh, the ever present problem of interruptions is definitely for another video...I don't think I have that mastered yet!! Though accepting that work sometimes has to be made in smaller chunks, and applying that mindset to getting back into the zone after an interruption is perhaps part of the solution to that I think ❤️
Beautiful art and very relaxing video, Lee ❤
So glad you enjoyed it! 💕
I love this painting Lee, it’s beautiful! I’ve noticed that recently you seem to be painting sometimes with a brush rather than exclusively paint markers as you did in the past? Forgive me if I’m wrong🫣 I’m particularly interested because I tend to have phases of using acrylic paint markers and after a while I miss the feeling of a brush. I also loved listening to how you’ve made time for yoga in the evenings, such a great idea! Thanks for the inspiration. x
Hi Jessica, yes, I have been using acrylic inks with a brush more and more! I still love my paint markers but am enjoying the feel of a brush and the fluidity of the inks a lot at the moment, and layering Neocolour crayons over the top too...When it comes to painting trickier elements I still find myself going back to the well worn comfy slippers of paint markers though, like I did here for the birds 🎨❤️
Very useful advice. Less Tv/ mobile time. It definitely helps clears the mind for creative thoughts processes. I agree, you can think up ideas and put pencil to paper at a convient time; little and often.
Glad you found it useful, it's horrible how much time we can waste on phones isn't it?
Ohh I loved listening to this, your talk like you are in my brain! I also think since smart phones came into our lives, it is harder to make the time to be creative even though that is what we want to do the most.
So glad that this resonated with you! It's a constant battle with the phone isn't it? How much we let it rule our time, I wish i could just throw mine away sometimes 😂
gorgeous piece Great advice Thank you
So glad you liked it :)
This piece is so incredible, Lee😍Look at all those sweet li'l strawbs🍓I fully agree with all that you spoke of. Back in the end of 2020 I started painting again for the first time in many years (most of my day job requires digital drawing) and the act of making art with a physical medium once again was so much more engaging and therapeutic. It also was a great way to meditate and turn the volume down and then completely quiet my noisy mind. As we all know, 2020 was a loud and stressful year for many, so I needed this and I've kept up the practice ever since. I cannot afford *not* to make time for my art practice, or getting lost in a book, as much as I can't afford to skip brushing my teeth at least twice a day!
Thanks so much Debbie! Really glad that this resonated with you...art and reading a real book are such a good therapy and you are right, being off a screen really does help to quiet the mind. I only use my IPad for client work now, working in an analogue way is just so much more enjoyable to me. I'm really pleased to hear that you have found this with your own art too and made it into a habit 🎨❤️ There is a place for the hand made in this world!
I love your art so much! Thanks for the advice on how to think about how we spend our time.
Thank you for watching and it's my pleasure, I'm really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the video!
Fantastic video ❤, it’s a great motivation. Also, loved watching your process as I’m a big fan of your artwork. I recently bought one of your tiny horse art prints and I love looking at it in my new craft room 😍 Thank you so much!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you found it motivating. And thank you for buying a piece of my art too, I love to hear about where each piece ends up, and that it's got a place in your new craft room is wonderful ☺️❤️
I just bought your 100 days book!♡ love the book and love your videos, especially how you have something to say with the voiceover while we see your process xx
Thank you so much, I'm so pleased you're enjoying my videos, I hope you enjoy the latest one too! ❤️
Such a lovely video. Your voice (& wise words) are so calming! Really needed this reminder today. Thank you Lee. Also, your sketchbook pages look lush! May I ask, what sketchbook are you using here? ❤
Thank you, Em, glad you enjoyed it and like the sketchbook work! My favourites are Seawhite of Brighton sketchbooks...they are good quality cartridge paper so can take a lot of things being thrown at them! ❤️
@@BonbiForest Thank you 😊
What a brilliant series!
Thanks so much, glad you're enjoying it! ❤️
Do you have a video on the flop through of your book 100 days of art ?
I don't but I think I will make one!
3 and 5....but all of them are really beautiful ❤
Thank you so much! ❤️
Enjoyed this review of books. I’m trying to find where I can get the Martha Armitage book? I cannot find it online ?
Glad you enjoyed it! I have just looked back through my emails and I bought it directly from the Marthe Armitage website...These days I think you have to email them to buy it, hopefully they have some left in stock: marthearmitage.co.uk/book/
Thank you for your replay. I communicated with the site and unfortunately, the book is sold out. I’ll keep my eye out for it at second hand shops, etc.
What a shame! Hopefully you can find it on the second hand market somewhere ❤️
Love watching your book series! Please keep making them, very inspiring.
Thank you, I'm so glad you're enjoying them...they are fun to make!
Just found your channel, I absolutely love your work! 💙
Thanks so much! ❤️
Hi Lee, i really enjoy listening to you talk about your art book collection. Even if I already own the books you are talking about, I like to hear your perspective. Your videos are making up for my lack of formal art education. 😊
That's so great to hear, I'm so pleased you find them insightful...thanks again for your lovely comments ❤️
Lee, I’ve have just paused your video to let you know that I am drooling over Marthe Armitage. I’ve never seen her work before and it’s wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing. I might be back with another comment when I finish watching the rest of your vlog.😀
Isn't her work wonderful and such a lovely book to boot! I love that you commented mid-video too!!
Thank you for your recommendation. I love your art and your soothing voice 😊
Thanks so much for watching, I'm really pleased you like the video and recommendations ☺️
The ‘h’ is silent because it is a French name, I believe, and as we know there is no ‘th’ in French! ;)
Ahh, that makes total sense! Thanks for the name know-how, I should have looked it up really! ❤️
I loved seeing all three of these lovely books, thank ey’re definitely going on the birthday/Christmas list, (or maybe I can’t wait that long!😉)xx
Glad you enjoyed them Jessica! ❤️
Another great video! Thank you!
Glad you like it, thanks for watching!
You know it's too difficult to choose, I love them all. I say 5 then I think 3, no 6! It makes my brain hurt so I choose just to watch the reel on loop 😍😂
He he, glad you like them all! ❤️
Love them all!
Thank you so much ❤️
6 because I love green!

Your voice is sooooo soothing and beautiful to listen to
That's really kind, thank you!
