I took your advice and went with Melton, worked for them for a few months and it opened up some doors in the flatbed world. Now I’m local heavy hauling for a crane company getting paid hourly + per diem. They even bring me a company car if I’m out of town at a job site. Appreciate your videos man, keep them coming

Yo you still driving for Melton? How long does it take you to learn how to strap cargo on the flatbed? Also what is the driving on the course like... I'm having problems with reverse offset right now lol last leg of my CDL but still looking at companies.

@@bigsnow1705 I plan on it. Gonna be a bit delayed. My ticket some how got cancelled. So I have been at the train station since 730a have to wait to leave at 6 with no sleep. Won't be there till 230a.

I'm thinking about getting into flatbed. Seriously considering Melton, I've been local driving a dry van for about 6 months. OTR and Flatbed will be new to me. What's something I need to keep in mind working here?
Just pay attention in orientation and learn how to make sure the load is secured properly. Melton is a great company to start your flatbed career with
When you get home time and you are by your self already do they let you go home in the truck?

Back when I worked there it was both. But everything is pretty much automatic now

ive been to that catoosa intersection or shopping center you showed probly 500 times lol...didnt know there was a trucking place that close to me! thatts only a 12 min drive for me so i may have to go up there monday

How did it work when you were with the trainer? Did y’all alternate driving? Did y’all have to drive while one slept?
When I was there it was mostly the student driving. Trainer didn’t sleep. He was up with you
The student is supposed to drive 60%
When i first got my CDL in 2016 i went to melton thinking about coming back in it instead of bumpin docks id rather that skateboard! Seems they changed the hotels tho i was at the Wyndham in tulsa when i had came few years back! Do they still make you pre plan b4 you leave out that Test with the mm and us state rds

I was at the Wyndam. The hotel paid for my taxi because they didn't have a driver for the night.

I heard from your video that you deal with tarps that weigh, 20,60, and 80 lbs.
I’m concerned about the lifting/handling the 80 lbs.
Can you offer advice to a potential employee candidate on how you managed the handling of the weight?

All about technique. Go low, roll it up on your knee to help with the lifting, and use your knees to come up off the ground. Don’t jerk. Use slow controlled movements. And this is at Melton with a three tarp system. Most companies use two tarp systems like where I work now and our tarps can be anywhere between 120 to 140 pounds. Same technique though. If you can pop it up with your knee and put it on your shoulder if you have to it will be a lot easier to lift
How they treat rookies at Melton?
It was ok when I was there. Not too sure about now. But be prepared to stay out for weeks at a time

Have you heard of vista trans holding besides they Russian. The pay is 85cpm for flatbed. Wonder know is it a good place. Seen mo reviews not on csa either.

Company. It’s all company drivers

Does Melton have a fitness test you have to pass before hiring you?
It’s not hard. Pick up 3 different size tarps and stand on each leg for 60 seconds

How was melton experience brother?
Pretty cool for the most part. I learned how to secure pretty much anything and I got the experience to move on to a higher level. I loved it

Maverick, TMC, or Melton which company pays more ?
Metro Living they all pay about the same
Maverick pays way more
TMC gives you a percentage of the load. And depending on how much you want to drive will depend on how much you can make. You could make 2 grand a week if you really hustle. These other companies like melton you could stay on the road for a month at a time and still average about a grand a week.

@@reubenneal6280 dont even go in with that attitude bro. If you fail it it's going on your D.O.T report and no one will hire you. If you have doubts just wait it out until your sure you're going to pass. They're going to question the hell out of you before you even take it too. So yea it's not worth it to even come in slipping

Mr. Bangkok whenever your working a regular 9 to 5 job. All your doing is working and going home. No matter what you do, however hard you work, all your ever going to be is an employee. Thats how it was at Melton. Your not working towards a goal, only collecting checks. I wanted more than that so what I needed Melton for was to be a stepping stone to move on to something greater. Not taking anything away from them because they’re a great company. But just not something I was going to put in a large portion of my life to stick with. Now I’m a lease driver. Working towards a bigger goal plus more money and home more consistently. So that’s why I left Melton. Not because they were a bad company. I just wanted more. That explains it for you? ✊🏾✊🏾 #flatbedgang
