Why is Tony always fiercely defending Robyn and not his own mother-in-law? He seems way too interested in defending her character and I don't really hear him doing that for Christine. It's just weird to me.

I don’t know about that Christine wrote about something happening between her and Meri regarding the kids that broke their relationship. This happened before Robyn was in the picture
The timeline is sketchy, with the show starting Robyn entering. The book came out 2 years after filming started if Meri did something then it was Christine’s responsibility to protect her children. I don’t care who, what or when it is never ok to put anyone in harms way for profit and IMO all the adults are responsible. We should not forget there still are children that are involved.

Robin is NOT the same as Kody. Meri and Kody are the same. Both are domineering, stubborn, selfish, and not emotionally intelligent. Robin is a different type altogether. She is extremely emotionally intelligent. She manages domineering personalities and manipulates them to do her bidding. She hides behind a submissive, caring persona and weaponizes damaged alpha personalities to do her bidding.
She uses them to do her dirty work, and then makes herself their only support system after their action lead to alienation. Her hands are clean, and her work is done. It's diabolical. Meri and Kody are just simple selfish children. Their feelings and their egos are fragile. That being said, Meri seems to have a little more self-awareness than Kody- but not much.

Robyn's sub-category appears to be histrionic sad crying to cope and manipulate, while Kody's sub-category appears to be histrionic anger that he covers up as patriarchal control. Meri's sub-category appears to be scrupulosity in the extreme, which she (and also Christine and Janelle) defends and covers up as being loyal within the teachings of their belief system, and therefore an admirable cult trait.

I find it interesting that none of Janelle’s children and most of Christine’s children, except Paton and Mykelti, have not said anything about Meri and continue to invite her to their big events. Also, Mykelti doesn’t seem to know a lot about what is actually going on in the family.

I think you are spot on about the family openly hating on Mary, but doesn't say why. It is wrong. Also if Mykelti can forgive her father, and her mother too, because her mother sent her to live with Robin because Cristine had problems with her daughter too, she forgives her siblings for being mean with her when she was younger? Sounds like she forgave everyone except Mary. What ever Mary did, her mom was there too? I think it would be wise for the family to stop implying terrible things about Mary if they don't want to talk about those things.

I feel horrible about the way The Kodster treated Meri. It was deplorable. What I can't give Meri a pass for is her treatment of more that 1 of the kids. She clearly had favorites. I think Meri really made her choices. She brought Robyn in when she was excluded from the friendly dynamic of Christine and Janelle, even though that was because of their twelve kids of similar ages and janelle working while Christine homeschooled. Meri really drew a line in the sand after Robyn was in the family and she hose Robyn, even though he writing was on the wall. Meri wasn't even resentful when she was excluded from visiting Robyn's house, even though Meri was completely alone and social distanced from everyone. The scene where Christine was crying because Kody did a Jekyl and Hyde abut moving back to Utah was the final nail in the coffin, IMO. Meri actually got up and stormed off with Robyn. Meri doesn't seem to realize that she deserved better and she was essentially the "tiebreaker" who aligned with K & R instead of doing what was right.

Totally agree about the Meri situation. They either need to address it or stop throwing muted accusations towards Meri. Meri also should consider telling her side of the story since she is the center of it. If the family wanted to keep the "secret" (whatever it is) NONE of them should have spoken publicly about it. I often wonder if it's just another way they and TLC are trying to generate interest and talk about the show to keep it going. Listen up TLC - we're sick and tired of it!

What was said about K+R filming is exactly what we saw in the Look Back episodes. Robyn storming off sobbing, Kody refusing to look at stuff.
My take is that MAYBE production is finally getting tired of both of them and now finally chose to expose them. The other reason could be that they are just pushing the ratings.
I remember at some point McKelti was in her rebellious stage and she had on a low-cut shirt and Meri made Mykelti go and change it an Mykelti wasn’t very happy…. maybe it’s stemmed from that.. and it snowballed

I think Meri tried to discipline them, like stopping them from running around in the house fighting and chasing each other and trying to stop the fights and having to frost one away from the other or raised her voice because sometimes some kids don’t listen when you talk quietly when they are misbehaving! A lot of kids thinks it’s mean to raise your voice at them or tell them what to do when you are not the actual parent ! IMO
I think for a couple of kids the discipline from Meri went way past verbal. At least that's what they are alluding to.

The only thing I ever saw was Meri getting after the kids a few times. Christine didn't like Meri getting after her kids and seemed offended a couple of times. It sounds like the children needed Kody to step in more often. Gwen even said that Paedon's behavior was out of control as a child. I have wondered if this is a smear campaign against Meri.
