I'm a parent so I understand these parents pain, but if you understand the psychology of these psychopaths ..they actually get great pleasure from hearing the pain that they caused. These impact statements just gives these monsters satisfaction...I wouldn't even bother addressing them. Nikolas Cruz in his video he made minutes before the shooting said he can't wait to see and hear the pain of the parents and loved ones. They already know prior to doing what they did...that they're going to die in prison. They just don't care.

I totally agree with you. I don't think the producers should have mentioned their names for obvious reasons. Additionally I was disturbed to see some of the victims being asked to recount their experience. That cannot be good for mental health, and frankly I couldn't watch more than about a third of the piece. It felt a bit like violence porn.

    • @teen-queen
      @teen-queen 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +62

It's a good thing that he was free to wear it because it exposes him for what he is. The community doesn't need to feel sorry for him after this. Let them say and wear what they want. We have to see them for what they are and decide from there.

Why isn't access to guns restricted to ordinary citizens in this country? In Europe, kids don't shoot up in schools because their fathers don't have arsenals of weapons in their basements. There's something wrong when you can't legally purchase alcohol under the age of 21, but you have no problem to buy an AR-15. Americans' belief that owning a gun is one of their basic rights has its roots in the beginnings of the country, and no one realized that we are in the 21st century and it is completely wrong. In May 2022, the powerful NRA lobby (National Rifle Association) won a lowering of the age to purchase this type of weapon - from 21 to 18 years.

I was a student at the SFISD middle school on May 18th, 2018. At 740am, the school went on lockdown, and about half an hour later, the news of an active gunman at the high school had been spread like wildfire.
Now, I have graduated from that exact high school, and still, ITS BEEN 6 ENTIRE YEARS, and the families of the victims, as well as our entire community, have not received deserved justice. He can not claim "mental illness" to a premeditated act that he pursued and then took 10 innocent lives without any remorseful reasoning behind it.
I lost a friend 6 years ago.. my classmate lost his older sister 6 years ago.. my neighbor lost her son 6 years ago.
That monster is well over "sane enough" to stand trial and receive his rightful punishment. And until he gets the rest of his pathetic life behind bars, the city of Santa Fe and all surrounding areas will not rest peacefully. Until he himself is ripped from his very life among humankind, we will not be tamed of our infuriating hatred.

Why would I give emotional weight to what that person said in the first place? Its just an opportunity for them to take or leave, and in that case the opportunity was left in the dust so-to-speak.

Cruz narrowly avoided the death penalty by just one juror. But don't think he's going to have it easy in prison.
The Judge who sentenced him also invoked the "Son of Sam Law" on him. This means that not only is he not allowed to make money off of his story, but any money he receives on his books will be garnished to pay his restitution he owes, so he won't be able to buy anything off of the commissary, and will have to rely on the meager rations the prison gives him. He's going to be looking like Gollum when he dies.
Also prison inmates typically don't like school shooters and will do everything they can to make his life hell. And before anyone brings up protective custody, in the state of Florida they don't actually have to grant you that.

Play them back and administrate punishments. Assume the first time they don't have an evidence. The parties are called into the office and the affair is investigated. Now those perpetrators will go under the microscope here on after. If you know moving forward your actions will be monitored and future incidents will have consequences, you'll be much less likely to commit them. Second, schools can use these as teaching moments to edify the bullies to become a better version of themselves.

Its mind boggling to me that a criminal defense lawyer was able to blame a school shooting on mothers drinking during pregnancy. I understand lawyers have a job to do but the blatant lies and misdirection they come up with should be a criminal offence of its own sometimes. Its disrespectful to the court process, extremely belittling to the jury, and most importantly its abhorrent behavior that reaches out of its way to deny justice to the victim and their family. Its painfully obvious that defense lawyers rarely believe the excuses they come up with, so presenting them in court should be considered a malicious act against those seeking justice. You're hired to provide them with a fair trial - that's it, not to lie in court and cheat the system to award guilty people with a light sentence, or to rob the victims of the proper justice they deserve.

For others, it might be difficult to understand the damage bullying can do to an individual. However, this damage is not to be underestimated... especially as the adults around you, don't really care or have the courage to do something about it.
It changes people forever - forcing them to view the world in an image unknown to others. It is forcing a dark reality, a dark mindset and difficult times upon you.
People who have been bullied either falls back into their rooms as weak, beaten boys and girls... Or, they fight back only to grow stronger as adults. However, when those days of adulthood comes, the true darkness and hatred for those bullies will forever be there. And together with strenght and courage, a truly dangerous person is born.
I feel no sympathy for those who bullied me all those years ago. Two of them was shot by a drug addict, and one of them lost their leg. I smiled when I heard that. Sadly, they both survirved.
The World and society we live in, is false. It's nothing but a facade of politeness and kindness, to hide away true human nature. It's there to hide away greed, hatred, lust, violence and competition. To hide away the fight we see in every other species. Humans, in fact, are so evil that we need thousands of pages of law just to (somewhat) stay cilvilized.
Observe the World more closely, and you'll soon see how evil it truly is; every nation, especially in the West, draining other nations for resources. They hide it away as "environmently friendly" or as a mean "to grow the economy". Observe the violence, the wars and all the death around you. There is no kindness in the human heart. Only competetion, instincts and survival. Empathy and love only exists as chemical reactions inside our brains to form relationships with others, as the individual gains from it. Humans live in herds, and position is therefore important for survival. Kindness is therefore also greed.
I chose to fight back. I kicked their teeth in, kicked them down stairs. I smashed them into walls. I was beaten up myself, I got stabbed at the age of 15. Tears, blood.. it was all natural. It only fuled my anger, as i was forced to love pain.
These days I only pray for violence to never be a part of my life again. The mental scars will forever be there, that I cannot do anything about. When the time comes, I will gladly welcome the Grim Reaper.
The only point of this comment... is that I know how it feels. It does not excuse murder... but it makes the motive understandable.

As someone who watched many hight shool movies including "Carrie", where the main characters got bullied too hard and also knew those things are common in real life schools when the victims of bullying got neglected by teachers, doesn't make any friend or worse got expelled and bullies doesn't get any punishment for what they did, I need to say they should not underestimate the destructive force trauma can cause to indivituals. My recommendation is school and parents should take care of bullying as much as they can, also the judges should also take full custody to the bullies as they do the same to the shooters. And that is how to reduce the school shootings.

Just the other day I gave a homeless person socks, I always carry spares in my car because I live in Canada. I don't record it or post it on social media. I take my time to talk to the residents that I work at and give them compliments and make them feel good about themselves. There is something to be said about the evil that lives in all as humans and the survival instinct but I disagree that people are only out for themselves whenever they're doing anything... Now I do know a thing or two about being pushed too far, being bullied, depressed and not to mention the motherhood used the drugs alcohol and while pregnant with This individual made a recipe for disaster...

However, when you really consider what humanity has accomplished in such a short period of time, I have higher hopes now. Much of what we have created is self servicing, it's true, but there are so many stories out there of true selflessness if you look around. What about the love for animals many of us have? I’m Canadian and I realize we don’t hear everything on the news from the US but I haven’t even heard 3/4 of these horrible ‘events’ (my knowledge and lack of a better known word to call it right now)! The one kid, Andy, he spoke very maturely and was very articulate with his choice of words! I will in no way ever understand why people, children, do this! I was burned 3-4 degree burns on 60% of my body in grade 3 in 1980 and when I returned to school after a long healing time, I was bullied and beat up since grade 4 right til grade 10! Not one single time in my head did I ever think of doing any of this shit! I didn’t even think or dream of ever hurting any person back for what they did! Not one single time did I even wish anyone dead for what they did! Grade 10 I kinda bloomed and became fun and outgoing and joining school things and going to events and such! I think every single day of what people did to me but I would never ever wish any type of evil or harm on anyone! I guess I’m saying my story because what these people did are not ‘mistakes’ they’re not ‘because mom drank and did drugs when I was in her belly’! I don’t believe in mental health and mental diseases used as defences! I say this because they planned it, they planned what they’ll say even, they made maps ect of the places and they killed themself or tried to so that to me makes it evident that each of these POS knew damn well what they did and what they were doing was wrong! If you know it’s wrong and if you plan you ‘after’ you know the difference between right and wrong so no it’s not mental health and no it’s not mental disease! This blows my mind how anyone could ever try to hurt any other person! This is JMO and I’m pretty sure many will agree with me! Much love and much respect and my heart goes out to every parent, every friend and every relative of someone that was killed by any one of these people who’ve done such evil! 🙏

The human brain is very complex. Under the right circumstances, there are many factors that can lead to a human killing another. I understand your shock and anger at the violence you've seen in these videos. It's natural to feel overwhelmed and seek answers to understand why such tragedies occur. I appreciate you sharing your own story of resilience and choosing compassion despite experiencing pain yourself.
While your experience is admirable, it's important to remember that everyone processes trauma and hardship differently. Not everyone has the same resources or support systems to navigate difficult situations.
The causes of violence are complex and multifaceted. While planning the crimes and awareness suggest knowledge of right and wrong, it doesn't negate the potential role of mental health issues. These can influence behavior in various ways, including distorted perceptions, impulsivity, or impaired judgment.
Instead of seeking singular explanations, it's important to consider the broader context. Socioeconomic factors, social and cultural norms, exposure to violence, and mental health all play a role.
I understand your frustration with using mental illness as a "defense," but it's not about excusing violence. It's about understanding the contributing factors and seeking comprehensive solutions. But at the end of the day, those killers must be imprisoned for life or get the death sentence.

The parents in that situation should also take a lot of the responsibility because it is common knowledge that doing those things result in mental issues for the child, however I do believe that in some cases there is no cure to their illness and it would be safer for people if they were disposed of… not in jail, but you know. GONE.

@LastmanStanding-wy5tx what’s your point still don’t resolve the issue that’s always been there since one of the first school shootings in 99 in columbine it’s always the same thing with these school shooters most of them do look like they were picked on it some form if you went to high school in America you should understand it’s sad that people wana make changes when shit happens but we never get down to the issue is bullying any form you can’t just look at people getting killed then say yea lock him up put him away if thats the only thing we’re doing is just locking them up can we get to the root of the problem and go to theses schools elementary junior high high school staff and parents need to to know what’s going on in the school

Eh that combined with the fact that the consequences are just too small. I’m sorry but none of these received the death penalty for premeditated murder of children… absolutely disgusting. They’re getting well fed, taken care of, and are now famous the rest of their lives. They feed off that. Sick world, weak justice system.
