    Best EC video out there! You encompassed all the points I’ve read and heard from over 15+ websites and videos combined. Great work!

    6:45 literally made me have a breather. I was SO worried abt my essay speaking abt my experience with video games n game development when most of my activities are abt coding 😭

    Hii thank you so much for your videos youre amazingg! On a section of northwestern specific application in common app theres an option for you to upload your activities “resume” do I not need to do that since all my activities are already listed in my general common apps section? Or is the resume activities part something else?

      @vincent_yang  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no need to upload your resume!
      Unless you have work experience separate from your activity list, I would leave that blank

    If i practiced swimming for 2 years, how do they know i did that activity? I do not have any certificates or something like that.

    • @vincent_yang
      @vincent_yang  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certificates don't matter as much as you think, as long as you have awards that will suffice.
      However, if you don't have awards, the second best thing is to literarily say on the activity list that you consistently swam for 2 years, and that in itself is an accomplishment.
      However, unless you do something with that ( for ex teach local low-income kids to swim) your 2 years of swimming itself is not nearly as powerful of an activity if you get what I mean.

    Hi , i have a question for you, i have absolutely no honors because of covid and some other reasons and i have only 7 activities in which i have participated but i have spent a lot of time about a year or 2 on each of them . So will i be able to Get into a Well reputed college on the Basis of SAT scores , GPA and my EC's .
    i'm expecting a GPA anywhere between 3.4 - 3.7 and For my SAT scores , i took 3 mock tests and scored 1410 , 1380 and 1490 respectively ( by just preparing for 3 weeks ) .
    i'll give SAT next year ( am in 11th rn ) and i'll try to score above 1500 , so will i stand a chance for getting admission in a well reputed college ?

      It's hard to say if you don't have any honors, as the activity list is only supported by how good you are in each field of EC's that you have, but it's hard to tell in the college admission process so I say give it your best shot!
      Your SATs seem to be doing fairly well, the only issue I can see atm is your honors so, perhaps try building on that before you apply for colleges!

    Each activity needs to be a "niche"? Honestly, what does that even mean?

    • @vincent_yang
      @vincent_yang  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Each activity should be as specific as possible essentially, Instead of saying you're a coder, say you're coding projects for the visually impaired and blind, instead of saying you're a CS major, you can say you want to specifically focus on machine learning and deep neural networks, or robotics etc

    Hello , What are my chances of getting cs in undergad.

    • Website development
    • simple User based game AI development
    • Art ( some certificates)

    • @vincent_yang
      @vincent_yang  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Possibly! Again, I'm not an admissions officer, but I do think you might need a little more honors in terms of coding, why not join some coding jams or perhaps hackathons, that way the admission officers have some metrics to vouch for your skill.
      Or potentially you could include the analytics of your Apps on your activity section on the common app ( i.e. how many people use your app, how long they use it for etc.) Just some way to show that you're good in that field!
