Thank you for posting this video. My Heybike Mars has 1,500 miles on it and for the most recent 60 miles the brakes have been really soft. As it going from the sidewalk to the grass to help me slow down enough to stop. The thing rides like new because of your video and my 5mm wrench.
Thanks for the brake adjustment lesson! I had taken my front wheel off to replace it with whitewall. After i put it back on i noticed the brakes were dragging pretty bad. I took it off and reinstalled the wheel, just in case i did something wrong. Still dragging. Finally i did the brake adjustment just as you showed and bang, zoom , boom the brakes are in perfect alignment. It took me about 5 minutes to fix my problem, thanks to your demo. I am very greatful. I am now a subscriber!
Hello and Not specifically on the Mars, But the beginning of this video should help you. th-cam.com/video/kYuI6Hbi0Mg/w-d-xo.html it is on the Magicycle though.
At the end when you adjust the barrel in the brake grip… does that adjust the amount of pressure that goes to the brake? Our brakes are doing nothing when we pull the brake handle. It barely even slows me down if I’m lucky and I have no clue how to adjust or fix it so they actually stop the bike when we apply the brakes.
I loosened the wrong one. It's the one in between the two you were doing and it caused the brake to loosen a lot to where I don't feel pressure when I squeeze the brake lever on the handle bar. I tried to tighten it back but it didn't reverse what has happened. I'm trying to find a bike shop or some place to have a look at my bike. I really hope to not have to ship it back out.
It sounds like what you loosened was the screw that grips the cable and when you loosened it the cable slipped back to no tension on the cable. If that is what it is, that is an easy fix to pull the cable back to where it was and retighten the bolt. These brakes are easy to adjust. look at the brake that you did not touch and see what you changed to help fix it.
@@RVEnthusiast :O Oh man, thanks a lot. I'll try that. I'll just then have to do something about the brake that seems to be hindering the tire to move freely.
@@RVEnthusiastI just came back to this to watch again about the brakes and noticed you’d replied to my comments from 10 months ago but I never saw them back then. Thanks for responding… I still haven’t bought morris but I did buy a rear view camera. It’s been very helpful but it’s hard to see cars during the day until a car is right up on you, so I’m still going to get some regular mirrors and I’ve been looking at morris this same shape and size but they’re not end mounted, they’re bar mounted and there’s not a lot of space left with my phone mount so I bought an extra bar for mounting accessories.
Im not sure that the brake pads are anything special. They stop the bike fine, but If I were to have to replace them I would buy a higher quality pad from Amazon. The bike for 1099 is an excellent value for sure.
@@RVEnthusiast dO YOU HAPPEN TO KNOW THE SPECIFIC PART NUMBER FOR THE PAD OR THE CALIPER MODEL NUMBER? hEY BIKE IS OUT OF STOCK ON THE REPLACEMENT PADS.
Can you please list the patch kit you use as well as that mirror, heybike told me that style isn't compatible with their bikes, I'd love to know which one worked for you. I'd really appreciate any suggestions as far as tools to have in my bag. Right now I only have a air pump and I'm a complete newbie to the bike world 🙈
mirrors are Meachow 2022 bar end bike mirrors (blue) left side if getting just one.. Blue is the mirror tint! Excellent for the Mars. Patch kit is just glueless on amazon. You will need 3 tire removal levers about 8 bucks or less. Tools that came with the heybike. Pump (already have). bandaids for yourself.
@@RVEnthusiast thank you Soo much! I ordered the mirrors but didn't know the tint was what it meant by blue but I can't wait to try them on. Thank you! If you happen to remember the brand name or link for the patches I'd definitely appreciate it.

Great video. Very Informative. I just purchased my first e-bike the Mars Heybike. What’s the name your storage rack bag? I’m looking for a nice bag like that. Thank you
Congrats Shawn, I love riding it for sure. That bag is so old Im not sure they even make it. I like it, but I think the rockbros bags are better and hold more stuff.
@@RVEnthusiastOther colors would be great, but kind of a pain to change it. I’m still mad they came out with a blue bike and a white one not long after we bought ours. It was way too late to return or exchange ours though when first noticed the new colors.
I could not find my valve stem remover. I have several, But just like everything else...when you need it...you cant find it. I cant blame my kids as they have not lived in the house since college and that was about 10 years ago.
Not a fan of putting a tire on and off while it's right side up. You lose the gravity and it's much harder. I usually have a blanket with me and I flip the bike over one of those long blankets that can fold up small. So you don't scratch anything. Obviously have tools to move the controls and stuff if need be. But if I do have to do it that way like on a stand which I have. After I put either tire on. I don't care if it even has the thing that holds the tire from falling down. I tighten up the screws enough so the tire won't fall off then I put the bike on the ground So it has gravity and the weight of the bike pushing down Then I unloosen the screws again for whichever tire I'm doing making sure they're all the way in therefore it's lined up correctly before you adjust the brakes Then I tighten those screws so I know they're set correctly.
@Doris Lives Well wow that took a long time to reply 🤣 Not everyone has time to do videos or tries to make a living on TH-cam but thanks anyways.. IT'S THE WAY PEOPLE BEEN FIXING BIKES SINCE THEY'VE BEEN INVENTED. You take the easiest path not the hardest.

Can you squeeze the brake lever all the way in without resistance. Wondering if the cable hold screw just to snot grabbing.

Is it possible to replace one of my brake handles?
Im sure you can. If you want original as came on the bike talk to heybike. or see if you can find them on amazon. its pretty easy actually.

I would think Amazon. Buy decent ones not 5 dollar ones. FYI
