I found you probably about 1 month ago, and since then, you have become one of my favorite TH-camrs. Thank you for helping me get away from my 9-5 job!
What you said in the beginning of this video is the reason I come for your advice. You make real-world suggestions. There is no "get rich, quick" message. I started my shop about 3 weeks ago. I had an idea of what to do but was still stuck on what I really should do. After watching a few videos and checking out your "SEO'oodles" page, I decided to start using eRank. While I still don't have any sales yet, I have improved the traffic to my products just by studying keywords and updating my listings. I got close to 50 new views (among 8 products) in the last 7-10 days. I know that's not a lot but it's encouraging and I'm ready to wait and see what happens as Etsy digests my recent changes. Thanks for all your help!
@@Ishtarlvx oh yeah! I had 3 in May, 10 in June and 10 more in July and then August exploded with 33. September is on a pace to be even better than that. I haven't done any ads nor have I tried driving any external traffic to my shop. It's all organic. Patience is the key.
Hey You! You are awesome! Thank you for all you do! I have learned from so many of your videos without saying thank you, so I am on a mission to say (at least) thank you for all the hours that I have learned from you. Since learning that the youtube algorithm likes comments, I feel guilty for not commenting. If you need me to, I will scream it from the rooftops.
Hi Starla, love your channel. I've binged a majority of your vids and appreciate how thorough you are with each one. Question: is there a way to monitor Etsy competitors' traffic SOURCES? I have eRank and can see traffic numbers for listings but I'm trying to figure out WHERE that traffic's coming from. All non-eRank tools I've explored only do this with independent websites, not marketplace shops. Thank you!
Unfortunately no. This data would be considered a huge violation of privacy. When coming up with tool ideas, I always ask myself, "Would I want MY competitors knowing tis information about my business?" If he answer is "No", it's probably not data that will be readily (or ethically) available.
Hey Starla, for what ever reason I'm not seeing the link as discussed @3:26 "22 Immutable Laws of Branding" and didn't see it in your Etsy Resource links above. You happen to have a link for that? Thanks.
Actually disregard. I just looked up the title and actually found several videos on it. I'll just watch a few of those...lol Thanks again and here's what I found in case anyone else was looking... th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=22+Immutable+Laws+of+Branding
I was wondering if you could do a video on how to get people past favouriting the item to buying the item. Lately my shop has had a lot of people favouriting items, but hardly any sales. Thank you ❤
Unfortunately there's no real way to do this, aside from setting up Etsy's designated marketing for those who have favorites items (via your marketing tab). My biggest piece of advice to sellers is to not obsess over favorites. They are a fun metric to see but ultimately aren't anything you can influence.
Hey Starla, I noticed that Etsy is automatically turning on ads for new listings, even if the "Advertisement" section is set to "Maybe Later," which should turn off the ads. Do you have any information on this issue? Could it be a hint to promote the new listings from the very beginning? What would you recommend for promoting new listings - to start promoting them right from the beginning, or to wait a few months before starting to promote them on Etsy? I would greatly appreciate any response from you. Thank you
Idk how to get my listings to show up on Etsy search. I can search and search and sometimes they will be on the 4-6th page. The mock-ups are great, others who sell a lot use them. The tags and listings are the same as the ones who are top sellers. I believe my designs are good, they do get faves. My shop is 2 months old and I have 6 sales but views are about 15 a days and shop visits around 5-10. I wonder how I can get the listings to show more. I pay for adds but 1$ a day, can’t spend more since no revenu. Help 🥺🙏🏻
If you're performing searches directly on Etsy, unfortunately you're not seeing your true organic rank. Etsy uses personalization technology for each and every shopper based on their IP address. Even viewing search pages when logged out, using a different browser, using an incognito window, or using a VPN does not remove this layer of personalization. So the results you are seeing are catered specifically to you, and since it's very unlikely that Etsy expects you to buy your own items, they likely aren't going to show you items that are in your shop. To view your rank in search minus personalization, you'll need to use eRank's "rank checker" tool, which comes directly from Etsy's API and will show you the average position of your listings in search before that layer of personalization is applied for each shopper. Aside from checking your rank, I highly recommend checking out my free Etsy SEO toolbox, as it covers a lot of the issues you mentioned in your comment: bit.ly/EtsyNoodle
@@StarlaMoore wow Starla! I had no idea, that is much more sophisticated than I could have ever imagined, even with a VPN? 😱 that’s wild!!! Thank you so very much for taking the time to reply to my comment and explaining all of this to me, it definitely reassures me. I’ll have to look into the erank to find out more. Do you think it’s worth finding out where our listings rank or that won’t really help us improve? I’m definitely going to check out your link. Thank you again 💛
@Straingelove totally worth it! Knowing the average position of your listing can help you to identify which listings you should work on. If you have listings with a decent rank, it's probably okay to leave them alone and instead, work on the listings that are ranking way back on lower search pages. 🙂
@@StarlaMoore oh that definitely makes sense! Do you have a video on how to find out listing rankings? I’d love to start working on that as I don’t really have much views. Thanks so much!!
Hi, I've been following your channel for the past couple of weeks (under a different account) and I was wondering what price range would you recommend for a "Heavy Blend Hooded Sweatshirt" (graphic tees). I've been doing some research but I got a either 30-50$, or 50-100+. I was hoping to narrow that number down to 5-10$ approximation (like 30- 35 or 40-50, etc).
Are you specifically referring to your Etsy stats located within the "Stats" portion of your Etsy shop manager? "Etsy Marketing & SEO" refers to Google Ads and visits coming from Google searches, as this algorithm is different than Etsy's search algorithm. "Etsy Search" stats are specifically referring to searches performed on Etsy. If your Etsy Search stats are down, it likely means that less people are discovering your listings while shopping directly on Etsy.
@Starla Moore yes, this is exactly what I am referring to. That might explain why some listings I have are never viewed. Does this have to do with my tags? I don't want to touch too much, but I guess it can't hurt the ones that are never clicked on.
@@kenileftycrochet75, I'm not an expert but if you have no views on them, try first to use other mockups, if still nothing, update your title and tags. If you still get no results, maybe the design is not that good.
@kenyakabarnes564 - check out this video! It covers everything I recommend in order to revive listings that aren't selling: th-cam.com/video/WdwzuUOoMZQ/w-d-xo.html While I never recommend tweaking your tags and titles every day, nor do I recommend tweaking items that are selling, if you already aren't generating traffic then it's safe to say that you likely won't harm your listing by working on your tags and titles. As I always say, you can't break what's already broken so don't be afraid to work on the listings that aren't performing. 💛
@Starla Moore thanks for the great advice. I probably already viewed this video, ha ha, but now that I am having issues, it will make more sense to me. I probably need to watch a couple more again as well. .
