Great work. And I thought I was cool when a filed a loading port in an 1851 navy to allow cartridges in the conversion cylinder and I installed the shell extractor.
450 Adams? Interesting choice amigo. Definitely a cool and unique modification by you.. I am envious of your machining/metalworking skills. Another great video.
Love your solution on the cylinder pin retainer. You inspired me to make a snubby myself. I'm betting you are or were a machinest or mechanic. (Leaning towards mechanic due to your cylinder stop openings on cylinder)
I've been watching Mike, Duelist 1954, for a number of years. Probably because of him, I bought an 1858 a while ago. It appeals to me more than the 1860 Colt. Don't think I'll chop it off. Not the machinist you are or the craftsman Mike is. But I have been interested in finding a conversion cylinder.
The 58 Remington is a beautiful layout on its own, just as the 51 Colt is. You can’t expect the same from each layout though. As long as you understand what you want, you’ll be fine.
Could use just use the factory cylinders . Then remove material from the back to all a plate . I’m sure there are many other issues to address like cylinder bore
Interesting project and makes for a very unique revolver. I think I know how you pinned the grips but could you describe it for me please. Thanks, Cheers!🙂
Mostly I would do a better job, and might be inclined to make it in .45 Colt. Oh, and if at all possible I'd make antler grips. because antler is cool.
Your approach to preservation of the aesthetics make these the coolest looking conversions
Thank you!
I'm a 1858 fanatic best platform for cap and ball period

Quickly becoming my favorite gun channel.
Same
Im very impressed by the hand tooling on this piece.
Thank you!
Really cool work 👍
I like your cylinder pin latch…nice work!
Thanks!

That looks so cool as a snub!

I've actually been a knife-maker for the last thirty-some years. 😁
thanks for sharing.
Great work peace
Great work
Yes sir it is very cool!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Man, I'd like to have something like that done to my stainless steel '58. I'm good with my Foredom. But I've never attempted a project such as that.

The Kirst units are excellent. I heard that Howell now makes a gated conversion, but I haven't looked into this.

That looks like a real hand cannon! Probably sat on the card table to deter cheating at the saloon!
I like your approach but couldn’t that lever web been cut down a little thinner or more narrow near the frame?
It could have, but I liked the esthetic.

Basically the shape and the screw keep them in place.
This was a good meat and potatoes project.
But.. the real sticking point for me is the rubber duck.
Wait, you don't have a rubber duck on your bench?
@@tinkertalksguns7289 Not yet, but you just changed that. Not all Hero’s wear capes my friend! Thank you!
How did you make the star on the back of the cylinder ? That is wizardry to me
Basically I file it.
Super cool !
What would you do differently if you made another one? (Or would you just do something better?)

@@tinkertalksguns7289 What cartridge is it in currently?
@@wadekirby8575 I can't believe I didn't mention that in the video! Oops, sorry about that! This one is chambered for .450 Adams.
