The thing I never get tired of seeing Spidey do is when he make a fool out of the Human Torch with his speed and agility. Back in the old days Spidey used to clown Johnny Storm to the point he'd get pissed off enough to chase Spidey around New York City and Spidey would make him look clumsy because the Torch could never get a clean shot on him.
Johnny got him back though. After Reed helped Spidey get the Symbiote off the first time, Spidey had no clothes. So Johhny lent him a uniform, and a paper bag for a mask and also put a "Kick me" sign on the back for further humiliation. Happened in ASM #258.

He also carries the guilt for every person he couldn't save even if he didn't know them. To survive the stare you can't just be a good person, you can't have any guilt at all.
Good job, and you almost nail one of Spider-Man's greatest strengths: fighting groups. He might just be one of the best heroes at handling multiple opponents due to his spider sense and speed so often helping him to redirect his enemies against each other. This is seen very clearly when he fights the FF, X-Men, but also the Sinister Six.
Spider-Man is the only hero where his rogues gallery created a full on team that exists purely to take him down. The members change but the team is always in existence. No other singular hero has to deal with group attacks constantly the way Spidey does.
Funny thing about a lot of Peter's usually quoted feats, was them being accomplished while being pretty much a completely self-taught fighter. Imagine how much more he would have been able to do in those situations if he had known "way of the spider" as he does today

I think his spider-sense helps a lot. It guides his movements if he allows it to. It's like mastered ultra-instinct in the Dragonball universe, or the force in the Star Wars universe. While teams are tripping over each other he's gliding around with ease.
I think he said in a comic that he can come up with so many jokes and quips because his spider sense makes it like time slows down so he has time to think of funny/annoying things to say
also I think there was a comic where spider man was helping moon knight or white tiger (I don't remember which one) and they said that spidermans jokes were throwing his opponents off guard
It makes his opponents mad and acts out of anger not thinking. Spidey reacts to the enraged opponent cool headed and calculating. It helps spidey in the fights.
Spider-man's acrobatics and spidey sense are what turn fights against multiple opponents to his advantage. Usually, the added complexity of coordinating with 4 other people against one person is minimal compared to the advantage it gives you. But Spider-man's skill set nullifies the advantage, leaving only the complexity and, therefore, actually gaining an advantage when fighting multiple opponents at once.
For me Peter Parker is "the" Spider-Man just like Bruce Wayne is "the" Batman. No matter how many other spider people such as Miles Morales are around or what different powers they possess, the original is the definitive version that all the others strive to live up to. Not to say they aren't worthwhile characters in their own right but I'll never see Miles as great or superior to Peter. So he got one over on Peter in their first encounter, he had the element of surprise and a different power set to his advantage. For an iconic pop culture phenomenon like Peter he was bound to spawn his own "family" of heroes like Batman has, like Spider-Man 2099, Venom etc..but remember who started it all. I don't feel Peter gets the respect he deserves.
That’s not what Stan Lee the creator of Spider-Man thinks. Stan Lee said that Spider-Man could be literally anyone because his costume covers his full body. Peter Parker isn’t really an interesting character and he’s definitely not iconic. People like Spider-Man for Spider-Man, not for Peter Parker. Spider-Man is popular because of his big eyes, colorful costume, witty jokes, and web slinging. The human under the mask doesn’t really make any difference as long as he has those traits. If Miles got a live action film I’m 100% sure it would out sell every previous Spider-Man film. Peter Parker is no where near as iconic and mainstream relevant as Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker has ALWAYS been replaceable.
imagine an injustice style story where spiderman is the one who turns dictator. it would be pretty insane because instead of a God deciding to not hold back, it's the man everyone always underestimated humiliatingly those who thought him weak.

Spiderman can bench press dump trucks and is one of the fastest most agile heroes in Marvel. All that plus his spider-sense make him awfully tough to beat. You also could have included the classic story when he knocked out cold Firelord. I remember Cap and the other Avengers who showed up were dumbfounded at Spidey’s victory. Hercules was very impressed as he thought to himself “Firelord… bested by a mortal. Surely there be more to this Spiderman than meets the eye!”
Spidey is designed so he is faster than anyone stronger than him, and stronger than anyone faster than him. Thus he can counter most everyone in marvel.
If I remember correctly, Spidey has like a 10 or 20 ton punching/lifting power. So if anything, it's unrealistic when he loses to normal human opponents. Someone like the Kingpin should go "splat" when Spidey punches him.
He knocked scorpions jaw clean off when doc ock took control of his body and didn't hold back his punch, so yeah, he wouldn't normally lose to a human. Except, in almost every case, Spider-Man doesn't want to straight up commit murder everytime he catches a street thug selling an 8th.

I had that book where Spidey fought Luke Cage for the first time he ended up beating Luke like a stepchild and that's was way back when Spidey had a 5 ton strength limit.

There was a time Spiderman tried out for the Avengers (Marvel Comics back in the 70's I think) when he was in need of money and found out Stark provided a membership "stipend". He was offered a position as an Avenger but ultimately decided not to take it in order to retain his independence.
Only point against him as a villain is his lack of strategy... Same weakness that keeps him from being a higher tier hero as well. It's what what Otto showed in Peter's body. Peter, maybe partly due to the Spider-Sense, is too focused on the most immediate and most urgent for long-term scheming
In the 90's comic where Spidey thought the Hulk had jumped into a plane MJ was aboard and killed her, within the fight that ensued Spider-man was punching so hard that his gloves eroded away and even Hulk had to say "oww" after a couple hits
@@ghostofrevan4455 Plot armor! Spiderman is not beating the Hulk in a fight! his best bet is to land a few punches that isn't really going to hurt Hulk, and then run as fast as he can. Just one slap by the Hulk, breaks spiderman's neck or crushes his body.
And geeked out about the cybernetic arm, while using one hand to move the metal arm out of the way (check the position of Spidey's fingers in that clip, Spidey did not have good leverage and still moved the arm easily).
This was awesome! I love Spider-Man. He's one of the most flawed fictional characters in marvel but he's taken on so many battles against so many heroes and villains and won.

At the time, that version of Superboy was also far less powerful than any other version of the character and especially had vulnerabilities to energy based attacks, so it was one of the more plausible fight outcomes from the series.

Spiderman's speed, and sense helps him against groups, but his present time situational awareness is quite superior. This combined means he can stay inside the group perimeter stimying their ability for risk of hitting each other which they often do anyway.
Great content. Biggest Spidey fan here. One note… In the fight with DD, he is not wearing the symbiote costume, but a normal non alien black suit. Peter is over the top angry because he felt betrayed by Stan Carter being the Sin Eater and all the people he had killed and injured. In the process Spidey almost kills Carter until DD stops him. Yes, Spidey punches DD out the window, but in the end DD gets the better of Spidey and wins knocking him out cause Spidey is to enraged to think and fight normally. DD admits that his victory is rare and probably won’t happen again if Spidey was normal in his demeanor and thinking.
One small nitpick I have. The issue mentioned about Daredevil being thrown out.......Daredevil won that fight at the end and being thrown out window didn't really do much to him and he used that as a way to get Spiderman away from murdering someone.
You beat me too it... its more embarrassing for Spidey when you punch first and then lose the fight to a guy who is much weaker in powers than you are. In fact, I remember three times when Daredevil beats him.

Number 3. Just so there's no confusion, the symbiote suit in 616 didn't alter Peter's personality or his powers, so the more aggressive behavior coning from him in this story is all him and has nothing to do with the suit.
actually, symbiotes feed on adrenaline (at least the movie version) so they create a constant anger in the host. They also feed on brain-matter and if I remember right in some cases, bio-electric impulses, meaning a constant exhaustion of the prey which would have similar effects
Regarding Spidey's constant quips -- I don't think he does it merely to distract his opponents. He also does it to distract himself. In the Earth X (or, maybe Universe X?) series, he is teaching his daughter that the worse the situation is the more you joke. Absorbing man had just absorbed the entire island of Manhattan. Peter demonstrates quipping to his daughter with: "Well, there goes the neighborhood . . ." She initially counters with: "Creel sure puts the 'Man' in 'Manhattan," but then floors the whole group via: "Is that the Chrysler Building in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"
I think part of Spider-man’s strategy is that, with the taunting, he gets enemies to not think clearly but also lures them into fighting like him. Like, Sandman turns his fists into hammers and tries to box him when he could just harass and slowly suffocate him as a sandstorm. Heroes like sue storm and cyclops could probably fight him, but he’s just so good at fighting in a way that stops enemies from using their powers effectively

Maybe Peter attacked Miles because he saw the suit was black. He's had clones of himself yes But it was probably more of a "act first, think later" reaction because he thought it was the venom black suit
X-men fighting Spidey: 'There's a whole team of us and only one of you.' Spider-Man, who is used to fighting the Sinister Six on a regular basis: '... you don't know much about me, do you?'
I seen Spidey catch a helicopter once. And in another issue in the 90s, dodged one of hulk's punches, while mid air in a flip, places his finger tips on his back, and flips the hulk! Now that's amazing.
My personal favorite is when he fought fire lord and trounced him. He stopped a very very arrogant fire lord from killing someone, fire lord was a hero at this point I believe he was looking for the avengers to join up, but it turned in to a running fight with Spider-Man running most of the time and fire lord trapped Peter and as such Peter had no choice, couldn’t run anymore and it ended with captain America putting his hand on peters shoulder saying calm down son he is beat as Peter was just beating fire lord in to unconsciousness.
When Spiderman fought Daredevil, he wasn't affected by the suit at all. Unlike the movies and shows, in the original comic, the suit didn't affect his personality or enhance his strength.
Actually, Peter lost his powers in order to cure his Necrotizing Fascitis which he contracted during his time at GARID and to devote all his time to being a good husband (Peter was assuming himself to be the clone during this time)!😐
Spider-Man's strength is that he's basically second tier at everything. He's not Hulk or Thor strong, but he's pretty damn strong. He's not Quicksilver or Northstar fast, but he's pretty damn fast. He's not Mister Fantastic or Bruce Banner smart, but he's pretty damn smart. So whomever he is fighting, he probably outclasses in at least one, if not two or three arenas. Well, that and a significant amount of plot armor.
All of it was great, right up to Superboy, and then that just become pretty dumb. Firstly, Spider-Man can lift 25 to 50 tons in weight, while Superboy, being about a third as strong as Superman, can lift about 700 *million* tons. It's not even a comparison. Secondly, Spider-Man's blows wouldn't even phase Superboy, much less cause him to flinch. Were he to punch Superboy directly, Spider-Man would shatter his fist. And lastly, Superboy was disabled by electricity? Did we forget that he's impervious to that as well? Lol. Great video overall, but the only reason Spider-Man "won" is because he's the more popular character of the two and it was nothing but fanboy service.
Cause hes the most markeatable Quill took half the avengers out except IronMan I thoughhe wasdone then quill just grappled him hes a hunter thief and tacticionist.
Yeah, at least once Spidey comments that even the breeze from a near miss Hulk punch would KO a normal human. It'd be hard, but Hulk only has to tag him once to end the fight. And Hulk is way faster than most people give him credit for. Spider sense really is the all purpose winning edge, which is why Venom was so scary when he debuted.
Hulk when enraged increase his strenght and his speed enormously. Spiderman can't reach that level he's at the sound speed, when Thor, Hulk and the others are at the light speed.
In a recent All-Out Avengers, he took on Cap, Blade, Black Panther (all webbed up after trading blows and tossing them around a bit), Thor (slipped out his shirt when Thor grabbed it), Captain Marvel (shot webbing that dissolves in 60 seconds in her mouth), She-Hulk (dodged punch), and Iron Man (used a doohickey he invented to disable his armor). All to keep a doohickey out of their hands, which he had gotten rid of close to the start of the fight when he passed a bike courier. The fight was just to keep them distracted while the courier delivered it to where Spidey wanted it to go. And he did it wisecracking all the way which amused the hell out of Thor.
I remember reading that Spiderman vs Daredevil comic, at one point Daredevil had to use Spidey's spider sense against him to temporarily stop him. Daredevil has no chance against Peter's strength.
The reason he sends to do well against groups is its easier for Spider-Man to jump around and attack randomly whereas the groups have to watch themselves or else they could damage each other. A very sound tactic plus knowing your opponents strengths and weaknesses is a most volatile concoction.
Although not a superhero, Spider-Man absolutely dismantled Firelord, who couldn't even touch him. Hey, beating one of Galactus' heralds, even one of his weaker ones, is a serious feat that deserves a mention.
In the Sin-Eater/DD example, Murdock proceeds to fight and beat Spidey to stop him from killing SE right after the part you showed. Of course, then he saves DD from a mob that was confusing his radar sense. After that, they know each others' secret IDs.
Other heroes tend to forget that while Spiderman operate on street level he is actually an A tier hero. While there are several heroes physically stronger than him he beats them all in speed, agility and reflexes, if we add the Spider Sense (and no plot armor) they can't hit him but he can hit them. His web shooters are one of the most versatile and useful weapons ever, not only able to inmobilize super strong opponents but to create varios items. Then there is Spiderman's intelligence, unless he is facing Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner or T'Challa he will be smarter than his opponents and even those geniouses would have trouble outsmarting him. And lastly there is Spiderman's mouth, he knows where to hit his opponents with his jokes, getting into their skin and make them unable to think with clarity.
Funny thin about Falcon and The Winter soldier, Bucky literally tries to punch spiderman with all his force in his metal arm. Peter just catches it with 0 issues and is just "Woah! You have a metal arm!? That's so cool!"
Spidey is so underated its not even funny. Taking on multiple villains at a time while making funny quips is his speciality. He mite not be able to go blow for blow but to punch him u gotta earn it. Along with all his powers he is also smart and thats how he fights. Dude dodges bullets & fists while saving someone and spits out jokes to insult u all while figuring out a way to trick u. And he almost always holds back.
When Spiderman fought the Xmen, as Wolverine is attempting to pounce on Spidey from behind Peter says, " Is that you Wolverine? You know those pig stickers might scare the bar room brawlers but to me...." Spiderman backhands Wolverine across the room, "You're just a joke!" . Keep in mind that at the time of Secret Wars Wolverine was a much newer and much less popular character. Spiderman was the flagship character of Marvel comics. As Wolverine became much more popular the writers retconned Wolverine to be much more on par with Spiderman.

True. It is also emphasized in civil war. Reed Richard's stands in awe as he fights several heroes on iron man's team.

Usually, the added complexity of coordinating with 4 other people against one person is minimal compared to the advantage it gives you. But Spider-man's skill set nullifies the advantage, leaving only the complexity and, therefore, actually gaining an advantage when fighting multiple opponents at once.
Even more damning is his web shooters. It takes his ability to fight a group of people and gives him ranged weapons to compliment that skill set.
Not only that he is a lot stronger than people realize. He possesses true superhuman strength.

For me Peter Parker is "the" Spider-Man just like Bruce Wayne is "the" Batman. No matter how many other spider people such as Miles Morales are around or what different powers they possess, the original is the definitive version that all the others strive to live up to. Not to say they aren't worthwhile characters in their own right but I'll never see Miles as great or superior to Peter. So he got one over on Peter in their first encounter, he had the element of surprise and a different power set to his advantage. For an iconic pop culture phenomenon like Peter he was bound to spawn his own "family" of heroes like Batman has, like Spider-Man 2099, Venom etc..but remember who started it all. I don't feel Peter gets the respect he deserves.

That’s not what Stan Lee the creator of Spider-Man thinks. Stan Lee said that Spider-Man could be literally anyone because his costume covers his full body. Peter Parker isn’t really an interesting character and he’s definitely not iconic. People like Spider-Man for Spider-Man, not for Peter Parker. Spider-Man is popular because of his big eyes, colorful costume, witty jokes, and web slinging. The human under the mask doesn’t really make any difference as long as he has those traits. If Miles got a live action film I’m 100% sure it would out sell every previous Spider-Man film. Peter Parker is no where near as iconic and mainstream relevant as Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker has ALWAYS been replaceable.
This lets me know that Spiderman isn't afraid to hold back sometimes especially if he has to fight against fellow Superheroes.

Spiderman can bench press dump trucks and is one of the fastest most agile heroes in Marvel. All that plus his spider-sense make him awfully tough to beat. You also could have included the classic story when he knocked out cold Firelord. I remember Cap and the other Avengers who showed up were dumbfounded at Spidey’s victory. Hercules was very impressed as he thought to himself “Firelord… bested by a mortal. Surely there be more to this Spiderman than meets the eye!”

If I remember correctly, Spidey has like a 10 or 20 ton punching/lifting power. So if anything, it's unrealistic when he loses to normal human opponents. Someone like the Kingpin should go "splat" when Spidey punches him.

This was awesome! I love Spider-Man. He's one of the most flawed fictional characters in marvel but he's taken on so many battles against so many heroes and villains and won.

No Spider-Man has beated Hulk before without any boosts
He turned Hulk back into Banner once with a well-placed quip, which caused Hulk to laugh his anger out.
Spiderman's speed, and sense helps him against groups, but his present time situational awareness is quite superior. This combined means he can stay inside the group perimeter stimying their ability for risk of hitting each other which they often do anyway.
Great content. Biggest Spidey fan here. One note… In the fight with DD, he is not wearing the symbiote costume, but a normal non alien black suit.
Peter is over the top angry because he felt betrayed by Stan Carter being the Sin Eater and all the people he had killed and injured. In the process Spidey almost kills Carter until DD stops him. Yes, Spidey punches DD out the window, but in the end DD gets the better of Spidey and wins knocking him out cause Spidey is to enraged to think and fight normally. DD admits that his victory is rare and probably won’t happen again if Spidey was normal in his demeanor and thinking.

One small nitpick I have. The issue mentioned about Daredevil being thrown out.......Daredevil won that fight at the end and being thrown out window didn't really do much to him and he used that as a way to get Spiderman away from murdering someone.
My small nitpick is that Spider-Man did NOT have the Power Cosmic when he defeated Joe Fixit. He had the Uni-Power of Captain Universe.

Number 3. Just so there's no confusion, the symbiote suit in 616 didn't alter Peter's personality or his powers, so the more aggressive behavior coning from him in this story is all him and has nothing to do with the suit.
actually, symbiotes feed on adrenaline (at least the movie version) so they create a constant anger in the host. They also feed on brain-matter and if I remember right in some cases, bio-electric impulses, meaning a constant exhaustion of the prey which would have similar effects
and he wasn't even wearing the symbiote in that story. That was a cloth suit made for him by the Black Cat.
Regarding Spidey's constant quips -- I don't think he does it merely to distract his opponents. He also does it to distract himself.
In the Earth X (or, maybe Universe X?) series, he is teaching his daughter that the worse the situation is the more you joke. Absorbing man had just absorbed the entire island of Manhattan. Peter demonstrates quipping to his daughter with: "Well, there goes the neighborhood . . ." I think part of Spider-man’s strategy is that, with the taunting, he gets enemies to not think clearly but also lures them into fighting like him. Like, Sandman turns his fists into hammers and tries to box him when he could just harass and slowly suffocate him as a sandstorm. Heroes like sue storm and cyclops could probably fight him, but he’s just so good at fighting in a way that stops enemies from using their powers effectively

I seen Spidey catch a helicopter once. And in another issue in the 90s, dodged one of hulk's punches, while mid air in a flip, places his finger tips on his back, and flips the hulk! Now that's amazing.
My personal favorite is when he fought fire lord and trounced him. He stopped a very very arrogant fire lord from killing someone, fire lord was a hero at this point I believe he was looking for the avengers to join up, but it turned in to a running fight with Spider-Man running most of the time and fire lord trapped Peter and as such Peter had no choice, couldn’t run anymore and it ended with captain America putting his hand on peters shoulder saying calm down son he is beat as Peter was just beating fire lord in to unconsciousness.
When Spiderman fought Daredevil, he wasn't affected by the suit at all. Unlike the movies and shows, in the original comic, the suit didn't affect his personality or enhance his strength.

Spider-Man's strength is that he's basically second tier at everything. He's not Hulk or Thor strong, but he's pretty damn strong. He's not Quicksilver or Northstar fast, but he's pretty damn fast. He's not Mister Fantastic or Bruce Banner smart, but he's pretty damn smart. So whomever he is fighting, he probably outclasses in at least one, if not two or three arenas.
Well, that and a significant amount of plot armor.
All of it was great, right up to Superboy, and then that just become pretty dumb. Firstly, Spider-Man can lift 25 to 50 tons in weight, while Superboy, being about a third as strong as Superman, can lift about 700 *million* tons. It's not even a comparison. Secondly, Spider-Man's blows wouldn't even phase Superboy, much less cause him to flinch. Were he to punch Superboy directly, Spider-Man would shatter his fist. And lastly, Superboy was disabled by electricity? Did we forget that he's impervious to that as well? Lol. Great video overall, but the only reason Spider-Man "won" is because he's the more popular character of the two and it was nothing but fanboy service.

Yeah, at least once Spidey comments that even the breeze from a near miss Hulk punch would KO a normal human. It'd be hard, but Hulk only has to tag him once to end the fight. And Hulk is way faster than most people give him credit for. Spider sense really is the all purpose winning edge, which is why Venom was so scary when he debuted.
Hulk when enraged increase his strenght and his speed enormously. Spiderman can't reach that level he's at the sound speed, when Thor, Hulk and the others are at the light speed.

In a recent All-Out Avengers, he took on Cap, Blade, Black Panther (all webbed up after trading blows and tossing them around a bit), Thor (slipped out his shirt when Thor grabbed it), Captain Marvel (shot webbing that dissolves in 60 seconds in her mouth), She-Hulk (dodged punch), and Iron Man (used a doohickey he invented to disable his armor). All to keep a doohickey out of their hands, which he had gotten rid of close to the start of the fight when he passed a bike courier. The fight was just to keep them distracted while the courier delivered it to where Spidey wanted it to go. And he did it wisecracking all the way which amused the hell out of Thor.
And let's not forget Superior Spidey punching Scorpion's jaw clean off.

I remember reading that Spiderman vs Daredevil comic, at one point Daredevil had to use Spidey's spider sense against him to temporarily stop him. Daredevil has no chance against Peter's strength.
The reason he sends to do well against groups is its easier for Spider-Man to jump around and attack randomly whereas the groups have to watch themselves or else they could damage each other. A very sound tactic plus knowing your opponents strengths and weaknesses is a most volatile concoction.

Other heroes tend to forget that while Spiderman operate on street level he is actually an A tier hero. While there are several heroes physically stronger than him he beats them all in speed, agility and reflexes, if we add the Spider Sense (and no plot armor) they can't hit him but he can hit them. His web shooters are one of the most versatile and useful weapons ever, not only able to inmobilize super strong opponents but to create varios items. Then there is Spiderman's intelligence, unless he is facing Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner or T'Challa he will be smarter than his opponents and even those geniouses would have trouble outsmarting him. And lastly there is Spiderman's mouth, he knows where to hit his opponents with his jokes, getting into their skin and make them unable to think with clarity.
Funny thin about Falcon and The Winter soldier, Bucky literally tries to punch spiderman with all his force in his metal arm. Peter just catches it with 0 issues and is just "Woah! You have a metal arm!? That's so cool!"
Spidey is so underated its not even funny. Taking on multiple villains at a time while making funny quips is his speciality. He mite not be able to go blow for blow but to punch him u gotta earn it. Along with all his powers he is also smart and thats how he fights. Dude dodges bullets & fists while saving someone and spits out jokes to insult u all while figuring out a way to trick u. And he almost always holds back.

Keep in mind that at the time of Secret Wars Wolverine was a much newer and much less popular character. Spiderman was the flagship character of Marvel comics. As Wolverine became much more popular the writers retconned Wolverine to be much more on par with Spiderman.
