tbh a fictional character can only be as wise as the writer's concept of wisdom
Wisdom and logic are two different things. In the comics and movie, Billy is a child who had Godly power thrust upon him. He didn't have the experience or maturity to logically make decisions in such an extreme scenario. But, he developed the Wisdom in the movie to understand that he was stronger as a team, than alone.
I'm honestly surprised Black Bolt isn't on the list. He literaly can't make a sound without casuing massive destruction. No grunting with effort or pain. No deep yawning, No coughs or anything. The man's got to hold back dozens of involuntary physical reactions all the time.
Black Bolt and Spider-Man were the first two names I thought had to be somewhere on this list. Surprised that they weren’t.
@@joelmbaumgartner tbh Spider-Man is weak compared to majority of these heroes not cyclops although if cyclops wanted too his optic beam can easily one shot Spider-Man if he connected but I doubt it given Spider-Man’s agility

Black Bolt is the definition of holding back, I agree. Superman might be the one holding back the most, but you never really notice it unless he brings it up. With Black Bolt it's in every panel. His whole life revolves around controlling his power.
One of favorite lines of Superman explaining how much he has to hold back is equating that he feels like he’s walking in a world made of paper.

@@enygma4096 yes, and that something to be said is fandom and greed. Supes has been evolved to alter fans and their expectation of his powers. He's part of the trilogy, aka DC cash cow.
Blue Marvel - The amount of limitless strength and other immense powers granted to him by antimatter is absolutely awesome . He knocked the Hulk unconscious with one punch that was nowhere near as powerful as it could have been. And with one punch, he knocked out Sentry and sent him into orbit and did that while being ganged upon by the likes of Sentry, Iron Man, and others and he was again holding back and still slapping them around. And he also 3 punched knocked unconscious King Hyperion who should be on this list too as he is a monster.
Is Blue Marvel secretly Saitama?
I was disappointed in how she kind of skipped over his feats and sauntered over to Superman I know he has less of a history but in that history he’s been doing some amazing things.

How does Spider-Man not make this list? When Doc Ock took over his body after ASM 700, it was revealed Spider-Man had been pulling his punches THE ENTIRE TIME. Superior Spider-Man literally punched Mac Gargan's, the Scorpion, face off with ease. He then realized that Peter Parker had not been fighting with his full strength.

A thing that we always knew. Tons of Spidey's foes have normal human durability. But he shouldn't be punching out Scorpion easily, especially post Gauntlet Scorpion. That dude's durability has been boosted enough that he dropped from low orbit and landed without a scratch.
Exactly. It's a well known fact that Peter at his highest limit can pick up to 90 tons. So, someone who can pick 90 tons got to deliver some devastating punches.

I don't read the comics. Does she accidentally cause weather? I thought she has to concentrate to activate her powers at all. So holding back isn't the issue.

Thank you for referencing this power. The Flash is so underestimated in his strength. With this power, theoretically the Flash could destroy the universe with a punch. I love physics-based characters. They’re the few reality based characters where we know their limits, or lack there of.
Why does that move sound like something straight out of One Punch Man?
I knew Raven was gonna come in first. Her powers circle around her emotions. The more she feels and let go of herself, (specially anger) the more powerful and destructive she becomes. Sometimes she loses control of herself (demonic forms & corruption) because of this and that's why she's holding back all the time. Not to mention she had destroyed planets when she was around 10 in the comics. Just imagine her true potential.

I was a fan, and buyer, of Hellstrom's comics when they first came out. And one of my favorite comic pages was one where Daimon (again) confronts his father, and then walks away... and his father makes an observation about how he's also proud of his son,

You left off The Scarlet Witch and I think Magik could too as the demon lady and sorceress supreme of Limbo. X-Man was another. I dear I say Magneto (I think we underestimate the untapped powers of Erik and his powers over the eletromagnetic spectrum and metal).
Raven truly deserves a solo story arc. It would be cool to see her cross with John Constantine and Dr Fate as a more evolved character outside of the Titans.

Wdym jean grey WITHOUT the phoenix force? When she lost the phoenix force her power grew exponentially because she was by her own admission holding back when she had the phoenix force, so it wouldnt take hold. She was holding back far more with it than without, and was far more powerful without than she ever was with it

Hi Amanda, loved the video but Cyclops' glasses and visor are ruby quartz not rose quartz. The material has been referenced as being the only material capable of containing his optic blasts aside from his own body. As for the reason he has no mental control over turning his powers on and off, he suffered a head injury when he had to bail out of his parents plane.
Yup! I knew about his head injury. Though I would say almost all the Summers brothers struggle to some extent with the sheer power of their abilities and controlling and containing it. And I also knew about ruby quartz! But I must just be watching too much Steven Universe, lol Rose quartz is a totally different thing! (But also a really cool kind of crystal that exudes all the loving kindness. Fun crystal facts.)
Actually the head injury is not why he can't control his powers. They thought that was the issue for a long time, until Astonishing X-men, where Emma Frost stated that she had discovered deep within Scott's subconscious that his past trauma caused his inability to use his powers and that he had buried those memories. When she partially lessened the weight of his trauma, he gained full control of his blasts for a time.
I think the only reason Emma or Jean have not completely erased his trauma and given him full control permanently is because those traumatic memories are such a core part of who he is today. They influenced so many of his decisions and shaped him as he grew. To erase them would completely change him as a person.

@@Ministrym3 Post Phoenix Five, he came back way stronger. However since his rebirth, he's back to his usual level, but we also haven't seen him do a visorless blast since then either. And Havoc made it sound like he could tell that Scott had gotten stronger.

One of the most powerful, dangerous beings in the Marvel comic book franchise.
Hulk has 100k ton level strength, but Silver Surfer’s power cosmic has nullified Hulk’s gamma powers.
It’s a shame he keeps losing to other marvel characters because of plot armor like Spider-Man etc
I am surprised Storm is not on this list. Her powers have been greatly suppressed in the comics. She is a serious omega level mutant.

I'd give a nod to Doc Manhattan and Lucifer ... One is able to create and arrange matter at the atomic level (even at the end he decides to create his own universe). Lucifer's abilities are nuts, he can also manipulate matter and energy but can not create either from nothing.

Stop sweating Cyclops where you have Havok who's waaaay more overpowered than his big brother. Let's talk about how Alex woke up in the middle of the night because he absorbed too much ambient energy and had to run outside outside to release an plasma blast into the night sky, in the middle of the desert. Oh, and the ground beneath him turned into glass!!!. Also, Havok's suit is necessary to regulate his power otherwise he'll wreak "havoc".
I'm surprised Wonder Woman is not on this list especially with her bracelet of submission holding back her immense godly powers and her God Rage where she looses all her sanity and goes into full chaos mode.

Some of the strongest characters in the marvel universe
2 others I would add is Black Bolt and the Sentry. Black Bolt can’t even speak, a more extreme version of Cyclops due the power of his voice. While the Sentry is constantly fighting back against the influence of the Void.

This reminds me of why Cyclops is my favorite X-men member and why I loved the old cartoon of the X-men and getting to see Cyclops in action.

Wonder woman isn't really the type to hold back in a fight also WW was not aware abt her bracelets holding her back and when she found out what her bracelets could actually do she didn't hesitate to take her bracelets off to fight someone
@@wilmaeestephaniemataranas4495 that’s simply not true. since her conception she’s always been one to not only hold back in a fight, but also keep her bracelets on cause she knows that when she takes them off to let her true power out that she will eventually go into a warriors rage. she was created to be a warrior for peace hence her original weapon being a lasso. she has also always tried to use words over physical violence, but of course at some point writers started forgetting that aspect of her. even so diana has never taken her bracelets off unless she feels the situation called for it. her not knowing her bracelets suppressed her power only came when they retconned her as being the daughter of zeus. before this she always knew and rarely took the bracelets off. and even after the retcon she didn’t go around taking off her bracelets willynilly as you imply.

Superman is arguably the most OP superhero, especially in the new dark crisis story run. He always holds back, if he wanted to he could destroy all of creation. I have nothing else to say.

If I remember it Beast Boy is like one of the more overpowered characters too. Mainly due to the fact that he can transform into the perfect predator for almost any species of alien.
Superman is the ultimate Boy Scout. That's why we need characters like to him to offset the Deadpool tropes that seem so popular. Supes and Captain Marvel have this feel of hope, wisdom and strength put to the greater good that is PART of what and who they are. They were the first, and greatest, Superheroes.
Don't forget the guy with the shield. There's a reason Captain America, for all his lack of power, is the Big Good of the Marvel Universe.

The Sentry is constantly holding back, even in his fight with Blue Marvel (a fight he was weakened during as well). We've never seen a stable Sentry go all out. And before the argument begins, The Sentry is more powerful than Blue Marvel, his creator literally said so himself. Also, Thor, Black Bolt, X-Man, Ghost Rider, and Silver Surfer hold back A LOT as well.
Blue Marvel beat the Hulk. The Hulk and Sentry fought to a stalemate. So, Blue Marvel is stronger.

Where did it say the Sentry was weakened in that Blue Marvel fight? If anything it was BM who was weakened after fighting off the avengers. Also Sentry couldn't stop Anti-man. They needed Blue Marvel to do that.

I know this might sound weird, so bear with me: I was honestly surprised Batman wasn’t on this list. I know Batman has no traditional superpowers of his own, but he is forced to hold back his intelligence to protect those around him. I mean, look at The Batman Who Laughs. When an alternate universe version of Batman is infected with the toxin that makes the Joker so psychotic and loses his reservations about killing, he kills all his fellow superheroes and goes on to conquer his universe.
I've always thought Rogue could be scary. Her ability/power is being able to temporarily absorb others abilities/powers. That is unless she holds on long enough to kill them or put them in a coma then she keeps them permanently ex Miss Marvel strength and ability to fly. If her morals didn't keep her in check and she became pure evil she could do some serious damage in the Marvel universe.
Let her grab Jean Gray, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Mystique, Wolverine, Storm, and the world is practically her oyster. Teleportation, shape shifting, insane heal factor, telepathy, telekinesis, weather control, control over metals... What else would she want, if she were ruthless and selfish?
To be honest, I prefer the Kal-El/Clark Kent version as a solar system-level Kryptonian hero for this generation.
One people don't ever talk about is Gambit. He went to Mr Sinister to get his power capped so he wouldn't destroy the universe by charging ever atom to explode and creating a universe size supernova. Probably the best example you could find of a character holding back the power they could have.

@@wulaeofthetengu8336 I would say the closest is the What If Siege where the void goes and destroys the universe and cosmic deities too (obviously void and Sentry are two different people, I imagine them as having the same level of power as one another, but sentry holds back while void likes to cut loose)

Her pre crisis version was very enjoyable specially her white Raven form since she for the very first time, felt an emotion and fully enjoy that emotion. Her fighting her own kind/blood and keeps her emotion away just for the safety of people makes her a great hero despite her being a great villain at the same time HAHAHA...
Wolverine spent his whole extended life learning to keep his berserker rage under control.
Without his intelect Cyclops would basically be a liability for any team.

I love how these lists always include the hulk. I remember a character from avengers west coast branch that had ionic powers and would get stronger the madder he got. Wonder Man. In fact I would absolutely love to see a Wonder Man movie.

I expected to see Scarlet Witch on this list. I mean really, in Infinity War and Endgame we saw Thanos pretty much destroy both Thor and Hulk, but Scarlet Witch had him in agony, calling for a barrage from his ship.

You could have mentioned Supes vs Darkseid in the Justice League animated series. That was the one time that he let go and he talked about that issue during the fight. Darkseid had to use a special weapon to neutralize Superman before Lex arrived with the Anti-Life Equation. As far as Raven, she has to hold back because she also constrains Trigon in the gem on her forehead. She is half-demon and must control that side of her heritage. The Hulk almost became the World Breaker by stomping his foot on the ground during WW Hulk. He stopped before he could send tremors to the Earth's core.
What about Black Bolt ? i admit i dont know enough about him but was there a instance where he blow his lungs out yelling the loudest he could ? id imagine he could destroy a planet or crack the dimension yelling out in rage.

Black Bolt and Firestar are notable omissions. for quite obvious reasons..
we dont really know the upper limits of what Black Bolt's voice could do..
but we DO have an idea of what would happen if Firestar went all out. in the confines of a planetary atmosphere, she could QUITE LITERALLY cook all living beings on the planet in question alive.
